Professor Harrington had been having a lovely day. She was excited to see her first year students again. She heard them outside the door and let them in greeting all of them. "Good Evening! I hope you all are doing well! Today we are going to be discussing the Sun, funnily enough it has a long set past the horizon so we'll just have to use a diagram in viewing the Sun tonight, which will be much better for our eyes anyways," she said setting up a diagram of the Sun in the front of the classroom. "For millions of years, the Sun has been worshiped as a god, the giver of life and light. Without it we wouldn't be here to talk about it! It allows plants to grow and along with some other basic elements keeps our planet on track." Sarah said as the students began to take notes already. "Now, I am going to give you some basic information about the many layers of our sun, so keep some notes, and don't fall asleep." She smiled and then picked up a piece of chalk and began to write on the chalkboard.
"Now, the sun has been studied with a great deal by wizard astronomers and a certain witch notably named Elizabeth Willowvale has noticed that solar flares are not what muggles think they are, as they believe they are storms on the sun, and we won't go into that, but the flares are actually magic projecting out from the Sun towards us, towards the Solar System, and if we didn't have these solar flares there would be no magic, it's what is keeping magic running, and the amount of energy that goes into this is phenomenal." Professor Harrington glanced at her clock on her desk and smiled up at the students. "Sadly, that is all the time we have for today, you may go once you've finished copying down the board." she smiled. "Oh and don't forget the homework while you're at it." she added. Sarah waited for the last student to head out before going out herself and locking up the rooms behind her. She was feeling tired and was ready for a full night's rest. Homework: -Roleplay the lesson and take some notes. -Write a short essay about the Sun with information not provided in class. (Please make sure to have your source listed once again and by this I mean the website you(ooc) are using for your character!) Astronomy,1,4 |

Arvel didn't know how he was supposed to concentrate on Astronomy when he had so many other things occupying his mind. It was such a boring subject for a magical school, anyway; he'd learned about the moon and the sun and the planets ages ago, before he'd been able to cast magic spells. Now it seemed like a waste of time. He sighed, making it look as if he were taking notes, though really he was working on his article for the Hogwarts Monthly. He only had a vague idea of what he wanted to write, and he couldn't seem to write more than two sentences before striking through them and starting over again. It was all so useless. He was angry at the people who had stood around and watched Professor Pendleton, but he couldn't write about that. It wouldn't help. Besides, he'd been among those people, until seeing the man cry had finally prompted him to leave. Did that make him a hypocrite? Realising he wasn't paying much attention, Arvel took some real notes. If he didn't do well in his exams, his dad was going to be disappointed in him. Why did everyone care so much about a few stupid exams? |
