Professor Harrington was a bit nervous about today’s lesson. She really wasn’t perfectly ready to float the room into outer space. While, they had done it in her class when she was at Hogwarts Scotland she hadn’t been the one to perform the spell. Working to calm her nerves she set about prepping the objects in the room while the students began to enter the tower. “Now, this week we are going to take a close up look at asteroids, Rowena Ravenclaw made this type of room at Hogwarts Scotland and brilliant people made it the same here,” she said before casting a spell which casted out brilliant colours and the ground underfoot began to shake. She held herself steady and focused on the spell as the room began to lift out of the castle tower. “You’re perfectly alright students, no need to fret. Like I said, up close look this week, don’t worry about breathing, the magic of course is keeping us safe from all the dangers of space,” Professor Harrington said as the room quickly made its way through space. She thought of how easy it would be in the future for witches to save themselves from the wars of muggles and find a new place to live in the universe. “Now, we haven’t much time but please head to our ‘windows’ and look out and take some notes on what you see,” Sarah said as she watched the students heading to the windows. “Now, asteroids are rocky objects, sometimes with various metals and frozen water that orbit stars like our Sun. They are too small to be considered a planet, but they can be referred to as ‘minor’ planets. Some are very large like Ceres which is 1000km across and others smaller than your heads,” Professor Harrington said as a few larger asteroids made their way past their floating room. “Now, they can be found all over the solar system, but most are between Mars and Jupiter, which is referred to as the main asteroid belt. Many people have tried to theorize why asteroid belts came to be, most believe they were leftover matter from when the planets formed,” Professor Harrington said as she waved them on to continue looking out at space. This should hopefully be one of the most exciting lessons for them getting the chance to actually be in space. She allowed them to look out for a few moments more before they headed back to Hogwarts and the lesson ended. Homework: Roleplay the lesson and for extra credit write a journal entry about your time in space. Astronomy,5,4 |

Flavio's day had dragged on because he was so busy and knowing he was meant to attend an astronomy lesson made him feel furthermore tired, if it was even possible. In an attempt to be awake enough in the lesson to pay attention and learn Flavio decided to drink a cup of coffee that afternoon. It was going to be detrimental to his sleep schedule and he was well aware of that fact but he could not think of another option to ensure he did not fall asleep in the middle of class. He arrived to the astronomy tower feeling as awake as he had intended and immediately payed attention to the lesson, surprised when the professor mentioned some sort of room. He was about to question what the woman was talking about but it was answered for him as the floor began to shake and the classroom elevated. Flavio felt slightly motion sick from the movement but he tried to ignore it as he continued to listen to the professor. He stepped to one of the 'windows' as instructed and looked out to space, finding himself awestruck. In any other situation he would have thought to take notes but he forgot to write anything down as he took in the surroundings. He tried instead to remember the main points of what professor Harrington was saying so he could study it all later on. The lesson ended pretty quickly with the classroom returning to hogwarts and Flavio wished he spent more time in space but he was glad that he wouldn't continue to feel sick after his feet returned to solid ground. Flavio left the room alongside November chatting to her about what happened during the lesson. |

Now that Valentine's day and most of the other events were in the past, Amber really started to feel the pressure of the OWLs. The end of the year was coming at her quickly, something that was hard for her to ignore. She was happier than she had ever been at Hogwarts, but the stress of the OWLS was still taking a toll on her. She had started making study guides and reading over the information from the previous semester, scared that it would otherwise fade from her memory. She entered the Astronomy classroom expecting a lecture with more information to study for the exams. So when the professor said they were going to get a closer look at asteroids she was surprised. Were they going to use the telescope then? But before she knew as happening, the professor cast some sort of spell that caused the room to shake. Soon, she realized the room was moving through space. It seemed impossible, and she couldn't believe her eyes. The professor assured them that they were safe here, even urging them to look out of the windows. Though she soon returned to the desk for a notebook to take some notes of the information the professor was telling them. It all sounded important. When the lecture was over, she spent a few more moments looking outside before they returned to the school. It was still hard to believe this had really happened and that it was even possible, even with magic. But her own eyes had seen it, so she had to believe it. |

She had always enjoyed the subject, but Ainsley was finding Astronomy especially fun this year. Everything they were covering was interesting and new, and she looked forward to finding out what each week's lesson would be. She made her way up to the astronomy tower with a spring in her step, ready to learn something new and exciting. Settling into her seat next to Amber, Ainsley began getting her things ready to take notes in a lecture, but quietly hoped that they would be doing something more exciting instead. Nothing Ainsley had done could have prepared her though, for the entire room shaking and grumbling as it tore away from the castle itself. She shrieked and grabbed onto her desk for stability as they lifted off, looking around in horror. Professor Harrington looked perfectly calm, but Ainsley couldn't bring herself to look at the situation so calmly. It was only once they had stabilised that she calmed down, slowly letting go of her desk. It was only then that what Professor Harrington was saying really managed to reach her. They were in space. For real! It was incredible, and once they were told to move Ainsley's fear had been entirely supplanted by awe and she leaped out of her seat, bounding over to the window to peer out. The sight was even more incredible than Ainsley had expected it to be, and she stared out at the real asteroids around them as she listened to Professor Harrington describing what they were seeing. It was disappointing when they returned to Hogwarts, and as Ainsley packed up her things and headed back to her dorm she could still feel her heart racing with the excitement of the lesson. |

Noemie was not managing to ditch much of her stress over the coming exams. It was just proving to be a neat impossible feat for her. She tried spending time working out, which usually de-stressed her, but it wasn’t really working at any point. All in all Noemie was just looking forward to being able to not have to worry about any of the worries she had now, it was quite possibly one of the few times that she was actually looking to not being at school, usually this wasn’t something Noemie felt until the day before leaving because then she was just waiting around to leave the place. The teen ran a hand through her messy auburn hair, a movement which increased the more stressed that she got and it was causing her hair to be increasingly messy and untameable. It was just not happening for her as it had in other years, she’d been stressed in prior years but never to this extent. This was just something else. She rushed to put all of her books and notes into her bag and run out of the room to her first class of the day, she would enjoy when she no longer had any NEWTs. Noemie arrived at the astronomy classroom and greeted the professor warmly before taking her seat in the classroom. She wondered how earth they would get a close up of asteriods, but her question was very quickly answered by the professor. Magic was wonderful sometimes. The whole room seemed to move closer, and she was momentarily worried about breathing and such until the professor reminded them they were safe. She walked to one of the windows and looked out at the asteriod, it was truly wonderful. A site that she thought most would never see and yet she had gotten to see it! It was amazing. Noemie listened to what the professor was saying about, making sure to be keeping a mental note of all that was being said in the class, so upon returning to the school she'd be able to get it all down. The girl was disappointed by the end of the lesson, when they had returned to the school and were back on normal ground. She remained in the room for a few minutes just to write up what the professor had been saying about what they'd been seeing. After she had everything done, she packed up her things and left the room, thanking the professor as she did so. |
