Being a little behind in lessons, Chante didn't think it was right to attend the electives fair. If she could put it off, she wouldn't have come. Second years were firmly reminded that it was mandatory, not showing up meant she didn't care about her school work. Totally opposite from what Chante was thinking, so she force herself to go anyways. Chante arrived at the courtyard with an open mind. She saw Len and wanted to know what she may be interested. Suddenly, she stops at one of the tables. Professor Pratt capture her attention with all sort of items she was pulling out to put on display. Chante casually wonder over, digging her hands into her pockets as the woman finished up her display. "I like your crystal ball! Does it come in different colors?" Chante asked her head of house. Joshua made his way to the fair, unsure what he should be doing once he got there. There can't possibly anything that would interest him, he was still struggling with regular magic as it is. It was catching up to him, but there was still a lot more that he needed to learn and understand. His tia at home, had always been the tarot card reading kind of witch. The natural kind of magic that did very little wand work, and more of the spiritual kind. He didn't understand why his tia had subject to herself to just that. Maybe it was time for him to take his own path, and find his own way? He won't be with his aunt or sister forever, and Hogwarts was only temporary. Joshua sighed, wonder around. He stopped at table, where Alexis seemed very much interested in. Joshua stood in silence, listening into his friend's conversation and her apparent interest in law. |

Kahurangi was pleased that someone approached her table right away, giving the young girl a smile. "Well, Ancient Runes is a very broad field, with a lot of different facets. It can be used for translating historical texts, warding, prediction, and many more things. If you're interested in a ministry job the aspects of runes you would likely be most interested in are warding aspects." She picked up one of the amulets on her table, showing the girl the combination of runes etched into its surface. "This is called a bind rune, it's a combination of two other symbols to give a specific effect. This is a combination of Raido, meaning travel, and Algiz, for protection. This amulet would help keep a person safe on a dangerous journey. Combinations of runes like this can be used both for good and evil, so if you're interested in being an Auror it could be useful to learn about how dark wizards might use runes to empower dark objects, or how you could ward against their attacks." She gave the girl a friendly smile. "Does that sound interesting?" |

tagging: Prof. Josephs Alexis' attention was caught by all the amulets she did not noticed when she first approached the table. Listening to the professor explain about Ancient Runes,it was broader than when she first heard it from her family when one of her brothers study the same class. She leanes forward when the woman showed her an amulet and explained the runes etched. She may have only explained how usefult it was for an Auror,Alexis could still its potential even if she chose a different career. Nodding enthusiastically, "It does sound interesting, professor. Would the class also teach us how to make amulets like these?",she asked as she lightly ran a finger on the amulet's surface, feeling the grooves caused by the runes. |

Kahurangi nodded and gave the girl an encouraging smile, pleased to see her interest in the subject. "Absolutely. Currently amulets are covered at two points in the curriculum, in fourth year you learn about crafting amulets with one rune on them, and in sixth year we discuss bind runes like these, and talk about how to use them in amulets. You'll also learn how to make your own set of runes for casting, and a variety of other skills." She said encouragingly. "Runes have a large variety of applications, there's a lot to be learned." |

The boy that was looking over the magazines soon piped up, asking if cooking was taught in Muggle Studies. Jon smiled at the boy again, pleased that he managed to ask a question when he seemed a little shy. Electives were an important decision and asking as many questions as possible was necessary to be sure you were making the right choice. "Thanks for your question." Jon began, being as honest as possible. "I don't think cooking is taught specifically in any lessons, but you do get to see things that are related to cooking. In third year there is a trip to a Muggle apartment, which is an opportunity to see what a Muggle kitchen is like, and in seventh year, you also go on a field trip to a Muggle supermarket. If you wanted to try food that is available to Muggles that is where you would have a big selection." It might have been a disappointing answer, as there was no specific lessons on cooking, but a plus side to the question itself was that it did get Jon thinking about adding a cooking lesson. Even if many Muggle foods could be considered similar to magical foods, the process was definitely different and might be useful and fun for students to learn. "A cooking lesson would be a great idea, though. I might consider adding one for the later years." Jon added, wanting to do everything he could to make the boy feel like his question was worth asking, no matter what the answer had been. |

The electives fair was always a fun experience for Ryder and something he thought was important because it gave him a chance to showcase his subject to eager second years. Ryder made his way to the courtyard and began to set up on the table he would be sharing with Professor Phillips. His subject partner was already there when he arrived and was mid-conversation with a student. Ryder leaned against the table and waited for students to arrive. |

Professor Kingsley was usually far better at keeping track of time. Scanning the room as she entered to see how many Gryffindors were roaming, the woman made her way to the runes table where her colleague was holding down the fort. "I'm sorry, Kahurangi. Have I missed much?" she smiled as she settled herself in, bringing with her some pamphlets about the subject and her bag of runes in the event someone wanted a reading. |

Professor Bryce Chamberlin was running late, while packing his bag full of Divination flyers and other information that he used. He practically rushed to the aid of Professor Pratt, before sliding to a stop while the students were unwinding and asking around. He set down his information which was a poster about palms, astrology and dreams interpreting. This was what he focused on, so he could give out more information on it. Bryce smiled as the other second years arrived, while looking to his coworker and giving her a brief nod and a smile. |

Fleur already knew one of the electives she wanted to pick, Care of Magical Creatures was a no-brainer and she didn't really think she needed more information about that subject. All the information she wanted or needed was in the name of the class alone. Aside from that, she wasn't sure. She wandered up and down, looking at the different professors and subjects. Finally, she stopped in front of her head of house. The other professor was talking to Alexis, a Ravenclaw girl. But Professor Kingsley seemed free. "Professor, will this subject help in any way if I want to work with dragons? I mean, I can't really see it but I gotta ask." She said with a smile. |

The elective fair stressed Gabriella out, and she felt anxious as she walked past all the tables with the different options. A part of her just wanted to take everything, just so she wouldn't have to choose. Most classes looked interesting, and most professors were talking to students. She spotted a Gryffindor girl at the Arithmancy table and joined her side, though she turned her attention to the professor she wasn't talking to. She didn't look too friendly to Gabriella, but she would probably know enough to answer her qustions. "Excuse me, may I ask you some things about this subject?" She asked politely, finding it rude to just launch in with a question immediately. |

Bella smiled at Sylvia when she joined her. She definitely seemed like someone she could get along with, and so far Bella was happy to share the subject with her. Bella laughed at the lady's comment. "And conning twelve year old's at that." She joked, with a small roll of her eyes. However, there wasn't too much time for more small talk as their table was approached by a Gryffindor. Bella forced a small smile on her face, noticing out the side of her eye how pleased Sylvia seemed to be that she wasn't asking her. "Well, this is all about Arithmancy." Bella answered in return, before remembering that she was a Professor now, and was probably expected to be a bit more professional, and actually answer the question. She leaned forward on the table. "Arithmancy is traced way back to the Ancient Greeks, a form of Divination but using numbers. However, it's more precise than Divination, it is measurable and a scientific way of determining your future." Another student approached the table, and Bella was glad that she went to Sylvia. Damn right, share the load. |

Jocelynn frowned at the Professor's words. She didn't understand how numbers could be more precise than divination. Her words didn't really make sense, kind of like she was trying to use big words to seem more impressive. She knew some people were gifted with Divination and be able to give prophecies of the future. "So you look at numbers all day? Seems like it could be boring," Jocelynn said looking around at the posters and such on the table while she talked. "So you study numbers and measure the future from them?" Jocelynn glanced up to the other woman talking nearby before looking back to the Professor she was conversing with. Tagging: Bella Matthias |

Tagging: Lucinda Sylvester, Chante Ateara Kennedy waited patiently for students to approach her table. It was never the most popular amongst students, but she didn't mind. Most who approached were either skeptical and wanted to challenge the validity of the subject or already knew what they wanted from the subject. Sure enough, one of the first students that approached seemed very enthusiastic to know what they'd learn while at Hogwarts. Kennedy waved hello to her colleague who'd just arrived and then addressed the younger girl. "Well, you might be happy to know that crystal ball scrying is covered in the second half of third year," she said with a smile. "The first half we learn about tea leaf reading," she added for clarification. "You learn about tarot in fourth year and Professor Chamberlin here," she gestured to the man beside her, "teaches the upper level classes where you'll cover dream interpretations, astrology, and palmistry," Kennedy explained happily. There was a range of things for people to learn in Divination which was why she loved the subject so much, there wasn't just one method to its practice which meant any number of people could be good at it, if they just tried and find a method that worked for them. The woman smiled at one of her younger badgers who approached the table earlier as well and nodded as she looked at the crystal ball on the table. "Yes, crystal balls can come in various different shades. Solids work best to help you concentrate on a smooth surface and see a vision clearer, but more advanced scryers can See in less solid surfaces," she explained. |

Bella raised an eyebrow at the audacity of the student in front of her. How rude! She leaned forward and rested her chin in the palm of her hand. "Well, I suppose numbers aren't for everyone. Only the smartest students should think about taking such a heavy subject on board. I wouldn't expect everyone to get it." Bella replied. She had to try retain some sort of professionalism about her, but it was hard when the students got away with being cheeky and rude, and she couldn't fight back. The new Professor was beginning to wish there were harsher punishments; though she was no saint at school, she wasn't attending now so it would benefit her more if she could get rid of the Gryffindor know-it-all in front of her. "It's not just about the future. It's about your life, and what to focus on and how to benefit from the things around you." |
