Professor Harrington was glad to be moving forward with the Third Years, they all seemed like bright little Astronomers and it made her happy to see them coming into the class. She greeted them and let them get settled before beginning the lesson for the day. "Today we're going to be looking at the Milky Way," she said starting off the lesson, "So we are goingt o just quickly go over some facts about it now, alright? Alright. The Milky Way is basically a faint, hazy band of light that you can see stretching across the night sky, looking through binoculars however you will see the milky way is made up of countless stars, the Milky Way is one hundred thousand light years across and one thousand light years thick. All in all, it is made up of around one hundred billion stars that form a spiral galaxy," She lectured. "In the middle of the Milky Way there is a huge bulge, it is twenty thousand light years across and three thousand thick, it contains only very old stars and little dust or gas, people think that there may be a black hole at the center of the galaxy." She exclaimed, finally finishing. "Once you have notes then you can leave, oh and make sure you do the homework on the board." She smiled, hoping they enjoyed today's lesson. Homework: Just RP the lesson and take some notes. Astronomy,3,2 |

Astronomy and the second lesson already, with a new Professor. Which seemed to happen every year, since no one wanted to stick with the subject. Elly walked to the astronomy tower and picked a seat. It was going to be another lecture and she wanted to be ready for it. Not that she cared about the subject, she just had it to have all subjects and electives. If it was Elly she would have dropped the subject a long time ago. Elly grabbed her stuff and waited for a lecture to start. The name Milky way reminded her of candy and it made her hungry. It did sound cool, but the milk way was basically just a bunch of stars in a spiral form. The black hole sounded like it was from a sci-fi movie rather than that it existed as the real thing. When Elly wrote all the information done which wasn't that much they were free to leave. She packed her bag back up and left the classroom. |

Valentine's day was coming up, and Phoebe could not care less. She knew she liked girls, but she had never had a real serious crush on one. So far, the mushy stuff was just unappealing to her. Though it was funny to tease her older sister whenever she could. Instead of fawning over dresses for the dance or speculating about roses, she focused on her experiments and ideas. The summer weather was perfect for exploring outside, so she did that to her heart's content. Though she also made sure to do all her homework, as she didn't want to get behind in classes. Phoebe's interest in all things extended to the things outside of earth, so she was always happy to go to Astronomy class. Though she was a little bit disappointed to hear they would be looking at the Milky Way, since it was still relatively close to home. She took a few notes on the lecture, writing down that the Milky Way was one hundred thousand light years across. Hearing that made her feel a little silly for thinking it was close to home. Space really was so big that it was hard to imagine. She took notes on what was in the center too, wondering if they would ever know for sure. Then the lecture was over and she gathered her things and left the classroom with her dorm mate Elly. |

April was very excited about the upcoming quidditch match against Gryffindor. She wasn't quite sure if she would get to play or not, but she couldn't help hoping for it a little bit. Though it was also intimidating, the Gryffindor seeker was very good. But for now, she would just practice and hope it would go well. Though classes were definitely cutting into quidditch practice time. Today, Astronomy was on the schedule. One of the classes April found the hardest. It was interesting, and she did like learning about space, but the lectures were had for her. She just hated sitting down for long periods of time while listening to a professor. It was kind of cool to have a class at night though, that was a definitely plus. April took a seat near the back of the classroom, not surprised when the professor started a lecture. She took out parchment and quill so she could take some notes on what the professor said about the Milky Way. She took notes on what the Milky Way was, writing down that it was made up of countless of stars and that there was a huge bulge in the middle of it. That made her giggle, as it was strange to imagine. Thankfully, the lecture wasn't very long. That was definitely good in April's opinion. She packed up her things and left the classroom, hoping that the other lessons this year would be similar to this, at least in length. |

Norton had been trying to spend more time with his twin, it was a little difficult to do so, they were in different houses, had different friends and took part in different activities. But most of all it was just difficult because Gilly didn’t always want to. Norton was however enjoying the little pieces of time that he was now able to enjoy with her, and he was just enjoying this new semester of hogwarts too. It was as fun as it always was and he was loving his new classes! He hadn’t thought magic would get any more amazing than it already was, but oh boy had Norton been wrong about that. The teen was smiling to himself as he got himself ready for the day. He couldn’t help it, he was just so excited about everything that the day would bring. He couldn’t wait to learn more, he couldn’t wait to play more quidditch, he loved everything about this school and it was evident in how he approached every aspect about it. The teen got the final few things together before leaving for the class. A skip in his step as he did so. There was little about magic that Norton didn’t love. Norton was so excited for the next lesson of astronomy, he bounced into the astronomy room with a smile upon his face. He couldn't wait for the lesson to start. He pulled out his books and notes and just waited patiently for everyone else to arrive, and only when that happened did the class actually begin. He was keen to just get started and they were learning about their galaxy, the one they were in. He began writing down everything that the professor was saying about it. The teen really liked learning about the milky way, he liked to looking at it from the ground and he couldn't help but want to look at it rather than learn about it. The lecture was annoyingly short too. He was disappointed about that, but he took a note of the homework. It was annoying that it was short. He packed up his things and decided to get his telescope so he could look at the milky way. Hopefully the next lecture would be far longer. |

Kauri was trying with Astronomy, he really was. He always made sure he did all of the reading and updated his notes on his own time, but it was just so hard to stay awake for class. Kauri wasn't cut out to be a night person in the slightest. Struggling to suppress his yawns he took his usual seat in class and blinked up tiredly at the professor, getting his things ready to take notes. The milky way was interesting, but Kauri could barely keep his eyes open. He did his best to take notes in the beginning of class, but the notes just seemed to keep... getting closer and closer to his face... Kauri awoke with a start as class was finishing, yelping in embarrassment. There was a large smudge of ink on his cheek where he had drifted off on his notes, and the entire page was smeared and ruined. Hoping nobody had noticed, Kauri hurriedly tried to wipe his face off as he packed his things up to head back to bed. He would definitely have to do some more reading about today's lesson, and hope he hadn't missed anything terribly important. |

It was the week before Valentines, but unlike last Geo had no plans to do anything asides from the Rose deliveries. When she lived in the UK, the seasonal holiday had been one of her worst, feeling as though anyone who was deserving on love should be receiving it every day and not just at a special occasion. While the third year still held this belief, she at least had managed to found some joy in the events and being able to meet many more people around the school gave her a chance to make something she may have otherwise disliked, something positive and fun. Astronomy was still one of those subjects that Geo didn't really enjoy, nor saw the point of, but that didn't stop her trying her best in the subject. Taking a seat beside April, she got out her textbook and parchment, and took notes as the Professor gave them a lecture. Geo struggled to understand how the stars could truly relate to magic, and have an influence over what they were doing every day, but she was willing to learn at least for the time being. Once the lesson came to an end, she packed up her belongings and headed out the class, hoping to get in a session of reading for her Charms lesson. |
