Mother of Two Girls | Astronomy Professor | HS Graduate Ravenclaw

[justify]Sarah was keen to start the lesson for the second years as she sat in her chair at the front of the classroom. It was a night class, which she did enjoy, the stars always so bright and pretty from the Astronomy tower. She hoped to encourage the students to continue the class in her later years as she had previously taught the 5th and 7th years earlier in the week and noticed the vast difference in size of the class lists between the younger years and older years. She loved Astronomy and wanted everyone to love it just the same.

Looking up from her notes Sarah could hear voices in the hall. Waving her wand the door opened and the first students began to enter in. “Hello! Feel free to sit anywhere you wish that is free. Come on in, come in,” she said with a bright smile. Watching as the students came in she glanced down to the lesson plan for the second years. “Alright, this year we are going to just go over everything about stars we possibly can fit into the semester!”
“Stars, well the closest star is the Sun. They are bright because gas is burning up inside of them and that burning, much like a candle on fire creates light. Now there are billions of stars in the universe, more than billions really,” Sarah lead on, “and their light travels across space to us. The Sun’s light only takes minutes to arrive, but stars farther away, well their light travels for thousands of years to get here. So for that star, the light we see tonight,” she said pointing up out of the tower to the stars in the night sky, “ is barely a memory they would remember, if stars were capable of memory and thoughts.” Sarah glanced towards the clock at that moment.

“Well, be prepared next week to take some notes! Good night, you all are dismissed,” Sarah said with a smile and waved the students off into the night. She hoped they would be good and go straight to their houses. She packed up after the last one had left and stared up into the stars a moment longer before leaving and locking the tower up behind her.

Spider Twin | Logical | Quiet | Creepy

Theodore Westwick had mixed feelings about returning to Hogwarts, as he usually did. His curious nature enjoyed exploring the castle and its grounds, but he hated being around so many other people. The fun in exploring was decreasing slowly too, as over the past two years he and Edmund had already spent a lot of time looking around, which meant they had explored most of the obvious places to find.

He was glad he never had to walk very far for Astronomy, as it was already one of his least favorite classes. He enjoyed knowledge about many things, but he found the stars too far away to really care about them much. He did appreciate the fact that the classes were at night, but that was as far as it went. He headed into the classroom and took a seat in the back with Edmund. He didn't care much about the professor, deciding quickly she was definitely too cheerful. He took a few notes on the lecture, though for the most part he passed messages back and forth with Edmund. When the lesson was over, he packed up his things and left the classroom with his brother.

Space girl | SCIENCE! | optimist | dreamer | question everything

Stella was wary about starting the next year's astronomy classes. Astronomy should be her favourite subject, but First Year Astronomy at Hogwarts had been a bitterly disappointing experience, with scientific content that was dubious at best, and a professor that was shockingly prejudiced towards muggles and muggle science - despite the fact that what she was teaching had mostly been muggle science. Nevertheless, when she saw that there was a new professor, Stella's natural optimism rose again. With a different teacher, at least there would be a chance for a different, better quality of lessons. Maybe she could finally start enjoying Astronomy classes again. Stella took her usual place at the front of the class, but didn't bother to get her notebook out to take notes. There was never any point on the first day of class.

Well, the new professor was very cheerful, which Stella usually took to be a good sign. The speech she gave about stars was a bit simplistic for Stella's tastes, but they were only second years, and this was their first lesson. The important part was that there was nothing in it that Stella could pick as obviously incorrect. This was definitely a good sign. Stella gave the new professor (she hadn't actually told them her name, which seemed an odd oversight) a sunny smile on her way out of the classroom, and left feeling cautiously hopeful about what was to come.

Flirty • Manipulative • Competitive • Daddy's little girl

Athena was ready for another semester at Hogwarts, especially now that she had improved her grades and the success of her plan from last semester put her in the best possible mood you could find the girl in. She arrived to the dorms and quickly gathered her Astronomy books before she made her way to the classroom, hopeful to take a seat in the front as usual. Once she did so, Athena took out her writing equipment and sat up straight in her seat when the professor began the lesson, curious about what they would do today. She had to prove to people how much she studied, even though the first lesson was normally just an introductory period. Athena noted down all the notes necessary, as much as she could, and she was disappointed that the lesson was so short. Her determination to prove to her family and everyone else that she could keep up with her perfect grades had her itch in anticipation, wanting to learn. They had no homework, so Athena didn't wait to put her notes in her bag and thanked the professor before she left.
