Professor Styx walked into the class to see that there was no one was here, and he leaned against the desk with his arms crossed over his chest, his gloves shining against the dim candlelight the room had. He preferred the room to have a dark tint to it, with all the windows blocked by the shades to give the room less light than the professor wanted. That is the way he preferred it and it was not going to change. Professor Styx glanced up to see some sixth years entering the classroom to start the lesson. Perhaps they were excited over learning the non-verbal magic however they would have to wait a bit before they could even hope to do that. This lesson it was going to be brief, as he did not want to keep them longer than it was necessary. Once everyone was seated and Professor Styx knew that everyone had arrived that was going to come in. The doors shut that echoed across the silent classroom, and Professor Styx started the lesson, "Today we are going to be doing the Defensive spell Protego Horribilis. Now this particular spell uses the defensive incantation that you learned back in first year, the difference now is that 'horribilis' or terrifying is attached. Making this particular protection extremely effective against dark magic. Protego would not be able to block some of the dark spells, which is why you need to master Protego Horribilis." He paused for a moment before he looked over the class to see who was paying attention and who was not. "Pair off and practice this spell. You should know what to do." After they had done that, he walked around to watch over them, and once class was over, he soon dismissed them after class had ended. Eleanor's first week back at Hogwarts had gone well and she was confident that she had enough information about each of her subjects to have a good year. The girl wanted to be organised and so promptly made her way to her next class, interested in learning whatever the subject had to offer. As usual, the Defence Against The Dark Arts classroom was dark with shades over the windows and a cold atmosphere. The girl took her usual seat near the back of the room and folded her arms as she waited patiently for the lesson to begin. They were to be performing a new blocking spell and Ellie made sure to get out her wand for this task. When instructed, she paired up with one of her classmates and they moved to a good area in the room to get started. Eleanor went first, sending the stunning spell straight to her opponent. They blocked it spectacularly with the new spell and Ellie made sure to have her wand ready for when it was their turn. "Protego Horribilis!" she exclaimed, focusing hard on blocking her opponent's spell. She beamed after she realised she did just that and for the rest of the lesson her and her partner kept sending spells at each other and Ellie thought it was quite fun. At the end of the lesson, she thanked her partner before leaving the classroom and heading straight to her next class. |

Sianna was enjoying the semester thus far, at the NEWT level, there was far more that she needed to do and revise for, but in the second semester she had far more work to do with Accio, and that took up a whole chunk of her time, it usually meant that she didn’t have as much time for her own personal photography and rather had to focus on that of the schools. It wasn’t too bad, she usually had enough time on her hands to do so at other points so she was happy to put that aside as she worked on the yearbook. She of course would have a lot of work to do when it came to the valentines dance at the end of the week so she was keen to get most of her work done before then. The Ravenclaw was putting away some of her Accio work and was focusing herself on getting ready for the day of classes ahead of her. She was sure she’d do well in this semester and manage all the work as perfect as she always tried to. It took a while, but Sianna was finally ready and left the room, heading straight for the class. The teen walked into the defence against the dark arts classroom and took her usual spot in the room. The girl's gaze shifted up to the professor who was at the front of the room, with his usual sour expression. The teen waited the few moments it took until the professor got started and she was pleased with the fact they would be learning an actual spell, there was nothing worse than not being able to cast spells in this class. The professor's theory was drier than most, usually just because of how he delivered it. The girl listened to the man as he explained to them the spell they would be doing. That it was a spell a little more advanced than the one they had learned as little first years. She paired off with someone else in the class and began to practice the spell with them. It was pretty difficult to get the spell to work at first, it took Sianna a few tries before she got it, but eventually she had it and she was easily able to get from then on. The back and forth between her partner was useful to take breaks and remember other spells. By the time it ended Sianna was disappointed, having actually really enjoyed the lesson. She packed up her things and left for the library. |

The game had not gone as well as he might’ve wanted it to. Ares had been hopeful that they would win the game, but despite how well everyone had played they hadn’t managed to get the win that they wanted. He knew they had played well, and he felt bad about how he had played so to apologise and let them know that he did appreciate all of the players he sent them roses as part of the valentines day rose celebration. It was a good event, and he was sure that they would appreciate the gesture, after all who didn’t love flowers and he knew that the hufflepuff players deserved the appreciate more than most. The hufflepuff was however glad that the game was over and they didn’t have another for a little while, it meant that he had a little bit more time to spend on his studies and that given the year that he was in it was important that he find the time for that. The hufflepuff captain was getting ready to face the day, he had worked hard the night before and was placing a lot of that work into his bag for the classes he had that day and when that was done he headed out the door and to the class. Ares was excited for what this class of defence against the dark arts, he was hoping they would start doing the non-verbal spells in this lesson, but it appeared that they wouldn't. The boy listened to the professor as the man described what they would be covering during the lesson. A more advanced protego spell, that he was more than keen to be able to learn. The teen picked someone to work with on the spell and the moment that he would be able to he started. He let them go first with the protego spell and just practice the others spell attempt to break down the shield. After they had gotten the hang of it, it was for Ares to try. He pointed his wand and said, "Protego Horribilis," the shield went up but it wasn't particularly strong. He had to try a few more times before he was able to get the spell to be as strong as it needed to be. But, eventually he did manage it, and Ares was proud of himself for having managed it. The exchange continue for a little but more before the class was wrapped up and they were able to leave the room. |

This valentines day, Zared wasn’t going to make the same mistake, he would definitely be sending her roses, and red ones at that. He hadn’t added a note because he didn’t think he needed to, they were getting married, who else would send her roses that were red. Maybe her twin, but he highly doubted that. The boy was sure that she’d like them, and though they weren’t particularly into the traditional love things, there was no one anyone would want to turn down the roses. He didn’t want any roses, because he didn’t that he, an almost fully grown wizard needed to get roses. He was finishing off the last of the homework he had for that day before getting himself ready to face the day. The teen packed up his work and books into his school bag, as he got ready for the day, Putting on his uniform, his prefect badge and ensuring he had all the right work for the day before leaving the dorm room. He liked the classes more now that they were doing more difficult things and there was little time for interaction with others. He could work alone while in the classroom. Zared was not happy to back to soon to the defence against the dark arts classroom, even if it had been a while week, he wasn't going to enjoy being in Professor Styx's classes at all. The sooner he'd be done with them would be better. The teen looked up at the professor as he got started, explaining to them that they would be doing in that lesson. Not quite starting the non-verbal magic, but it would still be good. The boy wrote down a few of the point that the professor was making about the spell they would be doing before just partnering up with the person beside him to do the spell. Zared struggled a lot with the protego spell, it just was not a spell that he found himself able to do easily. It took the entire lesson for him to produce a semi-decent one, which frustrated the slytherin boy to no end. He knew he would need to practice the spell more and so Zared decided that he needed to go to the duelling chamber to practice the spells a little bit more. He knew that all he needed was more time and then eventually he'd be better at it. |
