After seeing that everyone was present in the classroom, Professor Styx did not feel the need to really tell them what they had to do right now. Parchment was on their desk, and it was a quiz that they had to do. Professor Styx simply said, "You will have a quiz on everything you have learned thus far. You will have until the end of the class to complete this quiz." The parchment containing the quiz all had the anti-cheating charm placed on them. Professor Styx opened a book and he started to read until the end of class to which when it occurred, the quizzes were turned in and he dismissed the class.

The semester was winding down, and as Oliver found his seat, it came as no surprise to him that Professor Styx would be issuing them all a quiz. Like most students they weren't his favorite thing in the world, but he understood that it would help him achieve better results on the coming exam. There was already parchment with the questions provided for him on the desk, and he simply had to withdraw his ink and quill before beginning.

He'd finished relatively quickly and once class had concluded, Oliver turned his parchment in and issued a small thanks before leaving.

1. What is a Jinx?
A Jinx is a type of spell one may cast that results in negative effects for the targeted victim, and they often result in amusement for the caster. They are also known to be affiliated with dark magic.
2. What does the Ear-Leeks Jinx do?
When cast, the Ear-Leeks Jinx causes leeks to sprout from the ears.
3. What does the Jelly-Legs Jinx do?

4. List Three Reasons why someone might use the Jelly-Legs Jinx.

2. To get to see someone they disliked take a tumble down a long stairwell -- or a bullying tactic.
3. They may use it in a duel to weaken their opponent and get the upper hand.
5. Are Jinxes automatically Dark Arts?
Yes and no. I'm honestly not 100% sure on this one, but dark magic said to be any sort of magic cast that mainly results in harm.
6. What is the definition of a curse?
A curse is type of magic directly tied to the dark arts, as they are only used to seriously harm or even kill the targeted victim.

Bonus
What does Petrificus Totalus do? Is it a jinx, curse, or neither? Why?
Petrificus Totalus binds the victim's body and renders them incapable of movement -- except for the eyes. It is classified as a curse as it forces the victim into full-body paralysis.

Theodore was pleased he and his brother had won the best couple costume in Halloween for the second time in a row. It was nice to know that at least some people at this school appreciated the true spirit of Halloween, even if most were hopeless. Theodore didn't care too much about house points, but he was still happy to have won it.

Even though Theodore wouldn't really say Professor Styx was his favorite professor, he at least appreciated the man's lack of fake cheer. He took a seat in the back with his brother, surprised to hear they would hav a quiz on what they had learend so far. Once the professor stopped talking, Theodore got started on filling in the questions. After he was done he left the classroom with Edmund.

Gabriella was on top of her schoolwork as usual, she had no trouble keeping up with homework and managed to stay on top of it. She didn't know how well she would do on the exams though, as they always made her nervous. Her anxiety tended to stop her from getting the grades she really aimed for, and she dreaded coming home with less then perfect O's on her report card. Especially the more practical subjects were a struggle for the girl, something she was trying to work on improving.

She was pleasantly surprised by the quiz they got to take as preparation for the exam. Professor Styx was very structured, and she felt like he prepared them for the exams very well compared to some other professors. She got started on the quiz immediately, focusing completely on answering the questions. Like with everything else, Gabriella wanted to be perfect at this.

Patrick knew that the semester was almost over and was slightly thankful for it. Patrick liked learning but was beginning to become homesick, missing his family more than anything, despite the presence of his step-sister. He knew he would miss his sister now that she was gone and was looking forward to seeing her again during the holidays. But before he could do that he had to sit his exams and so knowing as much as he could for them was vital in doing well and getting good grades. The boy entered the Defence Against The Dark Arts classroom and took his usual seat in the room. When he saw the quiz in front of him he shrugged before picking up his quill and beginning the quiz when instructed. He answered each question to the best of his ability and hoped that he had done well when he handed it in and headed out of the classroom at the end of the lesson.

[justify]Chante arrived to class, spotting the parchment on her desk. She sat down and looked over the quiz. This shouldn't be too hard for her. She had been paying attention to all of her lessons, even the ones she didn't really like. Chante gather her quill from her bag, she dipped in her bottle of ink and got started on the quiz once they were allowed. Once she completed the quiz, she looked at her answers several times before she was satisfied what she had written. Chante handed the quiz to Professor Styx and left his classroom.
