Mother of Two Girls | Astronomy Professor | HS Graduate Ravenclaw

[justify]Sarah felt as though she was running a little late. Putting together a slideshow for her second years was beginning to feel like it would never happen. Somehow all the slides she had previously pulled out had gone missing. After searching for a long time she gave up and pulled out new slides hoping the quality would be just as nice as the first set. She wondered where those other slides had gone to as she made her way up to the Astronomy classroom. Setting up she noticed on the desk there was the first set of slides! She couldn't believe it, she didn't remember bringing them up there. Picking them up she heard a faint laugh and a ghostly figure disappearing through the back wall. She couldn't believe she had gotten pranked by one of the ghosts, she did laugh however as it was rather funny to think about.

Professor Harrington was setting up for her lecture when the first few students arrived for the second year lesson. She greeted them as they entered and quickly finished getting herself in order. "Welcome everyone," she said once the entire group seemed to be present. "Tonight we are going to have a very detailed discussion on types of stars, so please get you note taking materials ready," she said with a smile, although she too was dreading having to speak for so long that night. She much prefer them to gaze up at the stars like the first years that week but there was no time, they needed to learn this material first. "Alright, here we go, there are many types of stars and tonight we are going to look at nearly all types and learning a bit more about them," she said pulling up the first image on the projector.

The lecture seemed to go on forever for Sarah, she was sure by the time she got her fourth years up here her voice wouldn't be as strong as it normally was. Clearing her throat she glanced around the room as the students began to finish taking their notes. "Once you've finished with notes we don't have anything more to cover for this week, so you may leave," she said before sitting down at her desk to work on some grading while the remaining students finished their notes taking. Next week would be their last lesson and Sarah was already feeling sad for it, she had hoped to give the seconds years more time to study but she hoped they were studying their previous notes already in preparation for the exam.

Oliver practically sprinted his way up the stairwell for Astronomy class. He had taken a liking towards the subject, and he appreciated how thorough and carefully prepared each lesson was. Professor Harrington obviously spent a lot of time getting things ready for them, and she never disappointed.

Tonight was no exception, and when she began the slides, Oliver's eyes widened in awe. He'd never known these things about the stars. They were so unique and special, and the Hufflepuff withdrew his parchment and writing utensils from his bag.

Oliver's Notes

Oliver definitely learned much and enjoyed the lesson, but he stilled his quill when his fingers began cramping from his note taking. Once they had been dismissed, the Hufflepuff smiled and thanked his professor before gathering his belongings as leaving.

There were some students in the class that absolutely loved astronomy and Len wasn't one of them. It was hard to keep her focus in the class, but she managed. Len walked to the tower and took a seat with the other students.

She grabbed her quill and parchment and waited for a lecture about stars, galaxies and godsknowswhat to start. At least the slide show didn't disappoint and Len looked at the different pictures. The colours made them look awesome and Len made little texts next to the little drawings she was making. She didn't know stars actually were that pretty. Not that she had ever bothered to look at the stars, but from her point of view they just looked like a yellow dot in the air.

The baby star looked the most awesome, but the supernova did sound really cool. Not the fact that it could kill everyone even slightly around. Len smiled and went on to write about dwarf stars and neutron stars. It was a lot to write and her hand started to ache. She did wonder how the others were keeping up with this class. When the class was done she left with a smile on her face.

Gabriella was on top of her schoolwork as usual, she had no trouble keeping up with homework and managed to stay on top of it. She didn't know how well she would do on the exams though, as they always made her nervous. Her anxiety tended to stop her from getting the grades she really aimed for, and she dreaded coming home with less then perfect O's on her report card. Especially the more practical subjects were a struggle for the girl, something she was trying to work on improving.

Astronomy thankfully wasn't one of those subjects. It was largely theoretical and usually very interesting. Gabriella had no trouble paying attention no matter how many facts were thrown at her. She also enjoyed the excuse to be up late, and she enjoyed that it was a class she shared with Frankie. Things were still tentative and new between them, but at least they were now talking and trying to improve their relationship. She took a seat next to the other blonde, giving her a reserved smile before looking at the professor. She prepared to take notes, excited at the subject of today's lesson. It was a long lecture and Gabriella took organized notes, writing down what a binary star was, as well as a protostar. It was interesting to learn more about the development of them. She had never known there were so many kinds, and her parchment was pretty full by the time she was writing about the Pulsar Star. They sounded kind of complex but also very interesting. Once she was done taking notes, she massaged her hand. Thankfully the lesson was over now and she could go back to the dormitory.

[justify]Chante couldn't believe it was the fifth week already. So much has happened in the same amount of time she was attending her lessons. Out of all the things to happen, she guessed Halloween had been her favorite event and of course attending Astronomy at nights. She was really going to miss the benefit of having a free day and going up the tower at nights. Her sleeping schedules were a little off on those days, but she didn't quite mind it at all. She sure she wasn't alone in thinking she'd miss Astronomy once the next semester starts back up again, and they'll all giving a whole new set of schedule.

For the meantime, she made the best of these two last nights with their professor. Chante took her seat as their professor begin the lecture by showcasing a set of slides. Chante, leaning on her palm wrote as their professor spoke. The slides were very vibrant and colorful in their ways. She was a little bias to think supergiants were her favorite and if the supernova wasn't the death of a star she would say they were pretty too. All their natural lights were captivating, no matter which way anyone saw them. Can't deny their brilliants display across the night skies. Chante wrote until the lesson ended. Chante gather her things and left the tower when they were dismissed.
