Professor Styx leaned against the desk and waited for his students to enter through the open doors. This subject was darker than the previous lesson, so Professor Styx felt more at ease with it, and his sour mood had left a few days ago. He did not really mind teaching about magical beasts, however the one that he was about to teach today was the beast that he hated most of all, even more than Aurors. Combing them together would make the very thing that Professor Styx hated most come to life. "Today, we will be studying werewolves. I am sure that we all have some knowledge of this creature. Now, the traits of a werewolf and a normal wolf are very different. Who can remind the class on what those traits are?" A few hands raised and Professor Styx chose one student to answer the question. They had answered the question correct, and now Professor Styx had to go more in depth into the subject. So, Professor Styx went onto about how the full moon affects the werewolf as well about the wolfsbane potion that helps a werewolf remain human during the full moon so long as they had not touched or see the rays of the moon. He then went over on how ill they got as the full moon grows near and considered it to be a werewolf's weakness. He also went over the restrictive Anti-Werewolf Legislation put forht by Dolores Umbridge which prohibited werewolves from getting work just about anywhere. He thought that was rightfully put however he did not mention this to the students at all. "It has been lessened somewhat over the past few years. We will still need to rectifying these laws a little more." Pausing to look at the timepiece, he realized just what time it was. It was almost time for them to be dismissed. Professor Styx informed them, "Write a detailed essay on werewolves and how to repel them. This is to be turned in by next week. Class dismissed." The doors opened and the students were free to leave. Professor Styx went back to his own work of grading essays handed in by other students in other years. Assignment: Roleplay the lesson and do the homework.Defence Against the Dark Arts,3,3 |

It had been a better week for Alistair, falling back into the monotony of school life and pretending there was nothing to worry about. It was tolerable at best, and even more so now that Minerva was back at Hogwarts, having recovered from her sickness. He'd missed having a friend. The Slytherin stepped into the DADA classroom without particularly thinking of the lesson ahead, his thoughts drifting elsewhere, but as he took his seat and heard the professor's first words, it snapped him back to reality with a sinking feeling in the pit of his stomach. Of course, he'd almost forgotten that werewolves had been on the lesson outline, but after learning about boggarts first, he'd thought perhaps it wouldn't be brought up until much later in the year. He was wrong. Hearing another student describe the tell-tale traits of a werewolf painted a vivid image of what Alistair became, each and every month, an image he tried so hard not to think about. He'd never thought he could view a wolf as ugly when he was younger, but just picturing the beasts left him with disgust now. The young Lancaster scratched his quill idly against his parchment, pretending to take notes of what was being said, but every word coming from Kalifs mouth left him feeling nauseous. What if what he was teaching them lead to people catching on to the fact that he showed signs of poor health every time it came up to a full moon, or disappeared from his dormitory once a night each month. It left him sick with worry, a worry he already felt each and every day. thinking at any time someone might find out and spread the word. The lesson was a nightmare, and Alistair couldn't endure it. He felt sick, his breakfast threatening to climb back up his throat. Without a word he got to his feet and grabbed his bag, hurrying out of the classroom long before the lesson had ended to avoid throwing up all over his desk, or listening to another word. Hopefully it wouldn't come across as suspicious for him to run out so eagerly, looking pale as a ghost, but he couldn't have bared to sit in any longer. |

Defense against the dark arts was fun, but the Professor was in a somewhat sour mood all of the time. Or it just looked that way, he frightened Elly somehow. Elly arrived at the classroom and sat down. Sophie didn't take this class and that was sad. She liked to sit with her and she only saw her at runes and transfiguration. She sat down and grabbed her stuff. The lesson would be about werewolves and Elly was excited. Not that the subject was fun, but she was curious to learn more about it. When the Professor asked a question her hand rose up in the air. ''A normal wolf wouldn't attack a human except when they are threatened, but a werewolf will hunt humans exclusively and doesn't really care about anything else'' Elly thought that was the answer that the Professor wanted to hear. She could also go on that the werewolf didn't have a choice to be a wolf, they were human, but turned. But a wolf didn't have any other form. The werewolf law seemed unfair, without a full moon most werewolves were normal people. The discrimination seemed horrible and it wasn't like people liked to be a werewolf. It was a magical disease not something people did for fun. When the homework was told Elly wrote it down and started to work on it.

Minerva entered the DADA classroom and hastily took a seat beside Allistair before yanking her book from her bag and her writing tools. She found this subject fascinating though a little on the freaky side but knew that the professor was preparing them for whatever may be out there in the big world and not just when they left school! Today's lesson was to be on werewolves and Minerva took her notes thoroughly as the professor spoke about the ministry legislation, wolfsbane and many other things in relation to these creatures. When the class was finished, she stole a glance at Allistair about to ask him what he thought of the subject matter when she noted how very pale he seemed. Within moments he was up and out the door and Minerva stared after him. Was he sick? She hoped he wasn't coming down with something and decided to ask him if she saw him at dinner time. Heading back down the corridor Minerva found herself thinking to a story her mother had once told her of her great-grand aunt who had supposedly been bitten by a werewolf, this had been before any wolfsbane had been invented. The woman had to stay chained in her own basement while her family had magical wards on the doors to protect them against her in case she escaped. She never did however and was killed by a whack from a stray bludger several years later when out walking. Minerva had read a little on werewolves then but decided that she didn't know nearly enough and so took herself off to the library. Occasionally her thoughts went to Allistair and she hoped he was alright, he had looked ghastly pale.

Perry yawned, although he was tired he made sure that he was active in class. Or at least tried to be. Perry arrive in the DADA classroom and took a seat. He unpacked his bag and waited for the lesson to start. DADA was necessary, but the subject wasn't that much fun. The subject today was about werewolves. Werewolves did sound interesting and Perry wondered if they were really as big and bad as they sounded. Perry wondered if there were werewolves in the forest or at the school. You could also get bitten when you were younger right. The Umbridge law was horrible and Perry wondered what kind of person she was. She sounded horrible and Perry hoped she had passed away already. Perry tried to make notes and when he was done he put away his note making supplies. He closed his book and stuffed it in his bag. He was done with this class, but also curious. He left the classroom with his bag slung over his shoulder. |

The most difficult class for the Hufflepuff this year was becoming Defence Against the Dark Arts, although not because of the content. She still enjoyed the subject, and would read outside of her classes with Flavio about the things they'd been studying that week, but it was most difficult for her to concentrate in this class because she was always so distracted by the Professor. Luckily no one had seemed to notice, or if they had they hadn't said anything, and Geo had kept the fact that she often thought about him to herself for the time being. Entering the classroom with her friends, she decided to sit next to Perry, whom the more she spent time with, the more she found herself warming to his company. Today they were learning about Werewolves, something that Geo knew very little about. She'd never met one herself and wasn't aware there were any in the castle. Taking some notes though, she listened as best she could to Professor Styx, her mind occasionally wandering as she watched him. There was one student, one who she'd seen from the Dungeons and Dragons game, that look particularly ill that lesson, but the third year was quickly distracted once more from him as the Professor spoke about the laws. She swallowed, knowing that it was her most passionate subject to learn about, and considered whether he was going to go into any more detail. By the end of the lesson, Geo packed up her belongings and left the class by herself. She had plenty to be getting on with, and besides it was dawning on her that she needed to consider her options outside of the basic classes, if she was going to be the best Auror once she graduated, and went in search of Flavio to run him past her new ideas. Norton had been thoroughly enjoying everything the school had to offer, loving especially all of the work that he was doing in his new classes. The teen had been somewhat nervous about new classes, being put back at a square one, but clearly he had picked exceedingly well. Since he was absolutely loving every single second of it. The boy couldn’t help but want to know more, do more, and for the first time, his excitement seemed to actually translate to him being able to work, instead of only being able to study for about twenty minutes before getting bored, he could now study for thirty minutes! A whole half hour! The boy had fallen for magic hard, clearly. He had such good friends, he had such a great little pet, there was nothing that would stop his thrilling hogwarts adventure. He was finishing off putting on his uniform, getting his bag together, just getting himself ready to face the day, practically bouncing in every step as he picked out what he wanted to take with him for the day ahead. It was certainly in his mind going to be another amazing week at school, Norton was ready for it. Norton walked into the defence against the dark arts class and took a seat in the room, his gaze shifting to the front of the room where the professor was being his usual self. Norton pulled out his notes and books as the professor got started, they would be covering werewolves, which as much as Norton had heard about them being real didn't entirely believe. it couldn't really be true surely? The teen picked up that it was in fact very true as the professor continued. He took his quill and began writing down what the professor was saying about them. It sounded like life as a creature like that would be complicated, it sounded like it wouldn't be too fun, but at least manageable. It was dangerous but not so dangerous that they were cast out, he didn't like the fact they were real, but he could at least agree that if the government had decided to bring them in then they could be brought in. With his thoughts swirling with all the different things they had learned in the class, the boy left for the library to work on the homework. This semester had been better than others, though Norton was in no way warming to the professor who taught it. |

Sara entered the Defence classroom and took a seat, taking out her writing equipment automatically and placing it on her desk as they began. Today‘s lesson was going to be on werewolves. Elly‘s description of the difference between werewolves and normal wolves was unsettling and Sara tried not to be too freaked out by how dangerous werewolves were. As Professor Styx went on with the lesson in detail, Sara had heard some of those facts already but she wrote down them all, both the new information and the classic facts, like the full moon story. This class was always very interesting without a doubt and the third year didn't have a problem with studying it. But she had to be careful about underestimating anything they learned in Defence Against the Dark Arts, because hard work was always expected from her and her classmates. Sara had known that for a while. When they were allowed to go, the girl wrote down the homework and packed up, before leaving. | ||||||||||||
