Professor Orbon greeted his students with a big smile before ushering them towards a port key of an old hat, one that would hardly appeal to anybody if they happened upon it so as everyone was transported it would be easy enough to ensure that no muggle or wizard might use it to get back to Hogwarts. When they had all landed he said, "Welcome to Puyang, China." They stood inside a neolithic tomb where there was only one skeleton but there were two large mosaics depicting two ancient constellations. One of a dragon and another of a tiger. He gave the sixth years a moment to adjust and get over the fact that they were inside a tomb. "Please do not touch anything out of respect," Eduardo instructed politely before he began with the lecture. "Ancient Chinese astronomers took great pride in studying the stars. They believed that the sky and the earth lived in harmony. To them, China was the most important place; with the celestial movements linked to the destiny of China and its rulers." He paused, hoping that the students were taking notes as this would be on their examinations. "When there was a new ruler, he would put astronomers in place to document stars and predict eclipses. We know that two astronomers called Hsi and Ho failed to predict one particular solar eclipse. As a result, panic ensued throughout the country and the astronomers were beheaded in punishment." "Solar Eclipses caused wide spread panic due to the ancient Chinese believing that when a solar eclipse happened, it was a dragon trying to eat the sun." Eduardo smiled, knowing that at least some of his students would have celebrated the Lunar New Year before as he had once in America. "Naturally, when it began they took to the streets and played loud drums and began to shout and sing until the 'dragon' went away." He paused before indicating towards the dragon they would see on the walls around them so they might understand more. "Here we see two of the four primary constellations depicted. Now the Dragon, Tiger, Bird and Turtle are less prominent but at the time they were meant to guide travellers, as well as any ancient muggle belief of China's leaders, as they were in their respective spots in the North, South, East and West." He knew from experience how important it was to be able to find one's way by stars while flying long distance on a broom as he'd done so several times. Now though their transportation was much simpler and the man allowed his class to take a closer look around them before he told them all to touch the port key once more. Once they had landed back in the Astronomy classroom, which was getting more dishevelled as the year went on, he told them, "That's it for today. Once again there is no homework." Homework Task 1. RP the lesson 2. Make some notes Astronomy,6,3 |

Lilyanna entered the Astronomy classroom ready for another lecture. She had yet again brought along with her spare pieces of parchment and quills to write with and was happy to be learning again. However, when the professor announced that they were going on yet another field trip, Lilyanna almost refused to follow and the professor was lucky that Astronomy was her favourite subject. Reluctantly, the prefect was one of the last ones to place her hand on the portkey and felt herself being taken away to another country. They landed in the tomb in China and Lilyanna looked around curiously at all of the statues. When the professor started lecturing, Lilyanna enthusiastically took out her writing equipment, taking notes as he spoke.
As the professor told the class to take a closer look, Lilyanna simply kept writing notes as she was afraid she'd accidentally touch something that she wasn't supposed to. When instructed, Lilyanna placed her hand on the portkey again and was glad to be back at school once they were taken back. She neatly packed away her notes at the end of the lesson and headed out of the classroom, hoping next lesson they could just stay in the classroom for once. |
