Cassia Rosatta had not been back in this small cafe since nearly four years ago - since she'd met Blaise. The woman who no longer dyed her hair blonde, wondered how much the cafe had changed, even if the weather hadn't. She was truly only sitting waiting for her bus, yellow umbrella placed over her head protecting her from the rain that speckled down. Some things never changed. The girl was only in town to visit Mari - her ex boyfriend's younger sister. It would seem strange to anyone outside, Amoretta a girl studying dance at her college thought it was as such, but it wasn't a huge deal. Mari gave her privacy, and didn't beg Cassia to talk about her feelings. Cassia wasn't sure what her feelings would be if Blaise ever showed up one of the days she was with Mari talking about the college and what to expect. She wasn't sure she could face him - she still loved him. She wanted to come home to him. Amoretta had told her to follow her heart. But she didn't want to give up her dreams, and she felt that if she was to come back to him, that was what she'd have to do.

The brunette flicked back her hair, sketching in her notebook a doodle of flowers, a glass plate in the background of a dark room. She wasn't sure why she doodled to two items together, but the plate made her think of when she cut up her foot after the cops showed up looking for her. That had been so long ago. The runaway wondered if her parents gave up looking for her now - or if they wondered if she was okay now. They most likely didn't even care. The pencil lead became heavier on paper as she shaded, wanting to go to her apartment and take a nap. She needed the rest, it had been a long weekend and she had to concentrate on the new year and getting new supplies. There was a Christmas art show in a few months where she might be able to break out of her shell finally - and maybe make some money.

[justify]Blaise didn’t go out often, but when he did, he usually preferred to do it by himself. He’d moved back into his mother’s house for a little while after his break up with Cassia, but he eventually realised that after the freedom he’d had, he couldn’t really stand his brother or sister anymore. It was a shame really, he loved Mari and all, but she was too probing. He bet she probably would have asked him intimate details about his love life too, if she weren’t so squeamish about it herself. He liked that she had been such close friends with Cass, like sisters almost and he felt bad that it had to end, but he couldn’t have stopped it. He realised now that there were probably some things he should have said or did to help Cassia and he knew that he was a selfish person, but he was too scared to admit it to many people. The last year had changed a lot for him and he’d finally realised what he’d had with Cassia. It was too late now, but there was so much he wanted to say to her if he ever saw her again.

The rain was not uncommon for the french city and the cool air made Blaise very thankful that he had a jacket on. He'd become much more fashionable over the last year, mostly thanks to a woman he'd met about eight months ago. She'd definitely changed him and though that relationship had now ended, Blaise remembered her fondly for the advice she given him about himself. His phone dinged with a message from his sister to pick her up a bagel from the local cafe. She'd been on a some weird diet for the last six weeks and today was her cheat day. Rolling his eyes, Blaise headed into the nearest cafe, one he'd not been in for a long time and was about to head to the counter when a flash of hair made him pause. Heading back out into the rain, Blaise almost choked when he realised who it was. He had no umbrella to protect himself, unlike her as it had not been raining when he'd started his venture. Now soaking wet, Blaise stared at Cassia, confused, he wasn't sure she was actually there.

The brunette wondered if the rain and chill would ever stop, though she knew sometimes it was sunny lately everything felt grey. Especially the Christmas she'd spent with Amoretta's family. It had made her miss Blaise's family. The christmases they had shared. Especially that first Christmas, when Blaise has kissed her. snap The pencil lead which could not withstand the pressure snapped underneath it, rolling off and onto the ground. The woman sighed, and decided maybe that meant she was supposed to put it away. She adjusted her bag, trying to put her notebook away without becoming soaking wet. After all her white shirt in the rain would quickly become risqué if she wasn't careful. In the commotion of trying to do so, the pencil rolled off and under where she was seated.

"Ah, mierda." She swore in Spanish before standing to get it, just in time to see a patron accidentally kick it and send it rolling, into the feet of a person facing her. Cassia moves forwards, at first only concentrated on the pencil. "Sorry." She spoke quietly, to the person she moved past, and finally she reached her destination. She picked up the black writing utensil and laughed. "Sorry, it ran away." She commented before finally looking at who the pencil had ran to. Upon the realization Cassia's cheeks burned red, and she was nearly speechless. How unlucky could she be that this one day she'd see Blaise st this café. What if Mari had set this up knowing she'd have waited for the transport here. "Blaise..." She spoke gently, still almost in shock. She wanted to turn and leave but now she stood, subconsciously holding the umbrella over both of them by raising her hand and pushing it outwards.

[justify]Blaise had many things in his life that he regretted, but nothing he regretted so much as Cassia. If he hadn't heard her speak his name, he might have been persuaded into believing she was not who he thought she was, but only his Cassia could say his name quite like that. He almost thought she sounded disappointed. Almost. His English had gotten worse over the year he refused to use it, so Blaise struggled to find the right words. "Cassia, you are back, oui?" He wasn't even sure what he was supposed to say as he looked up to see the umbrella she was holding over the both of them. Without thinking, Blaise stepped into the shelter and placed his hand on the small of Cassia's back to hold her against him, allowing them to both stay dry, though it was much too late in his case. His jacket managed to keep most of the rain off him though, being enchanted like it was, but he had to be careful living in the muggle world like he did. It wasn't like he went all out and magicked everything he saw, but he liked to use what he could now-a-days, since Cassia was no longer around, magic was easier and came to him more freely than it had before.

He noted that she was still drawing, which he was glad for, he wondered what she would be doing with herself whilst she was at the school and it was strange to see her. His heart ached knowing she'd been here and not contacted him. How many times had they potentially passed each other and not noticed? Would he have seen her today if she hadn't been the only person with an umbrella. Most were used to this weather and simply wore jackets, but not Cass. What did it mean that she was here now, had Mari set this up?

Cassia had strong will, and stronger resolve. She would have been able to just talk awkwardly, quietly, in the middle of the outdoor seating of the little cafe. The cafe where they'd met. Then his hand found it's way to the small of her back and suddenly it was as if Cassia had no will at all. it was slow movements, as she stepped closer to Blaise. She Could smell him. Not just any cologne or body wash, but the scent that was so particularly Blaise. The rain rolled slowly off his jacket, almost like magic it was almost untouched by it, and Cassia touched her hand to it gently. Whatever waterproofing he used made it nearly dry, and suddenly Cassia found herself wrapping her free arm around him and drawing him all the way against her. She hadn't been close to him, or really anyone else for that matter, in much too long.

Should Cassia have just left, probably. Should she have spoken, of course. She couldn't though. She was too enthralled by this moment, as if they were alone. As if there was no world around them, just them and that yellow umbrella. "I missed you." She spoke, her voice speaking pain, and her eyes closed tightly.

[justify]     Blaise had missed Cassia, being this close to her and not being able to touch her in any significant way was hard. It had been just over a year, maybe, since she’d walked out of his life and he’d never thought he would see her again. He was excited, elated at the idea that maybe she had come back for him, but it was a passing thought. She was not headed for their apartment at all, she would not even know where he was currently living, nor had she contacted him in the months since. He’d texted her constantly for the first two months, but after continuously getting no response he assumed that either A she had simply ignored him or B she had acquired a new phone. Possibly both in hindsight. He smiled to himself, as she could not currently see his face, when she said she missed him. There was hurt there, he felt as if he could hear the year of separation between them and he felt it as keenly as she did. Maybe the break had been good for them, maybe all that time spent apart would help them be closer than they were before. There was certainly a lot about himself that he had learnt and perhaps Cassia had too. Though there was still the matter of his secrets hanging over them, he had to wonder why it was she seemed only to feel it with him. Both of his siblings were also magical, as was his mother. Maybe it was their relationship and closeness that allowed her to feel as though he was constantly pulling away. He could certainly understand why it might feel that way. It wasn’t true, but he understood it just the same. Perhaps the charms on his coat were in poor taste after all. It felt like he was flaunting his secrets in front of her, only she had no idea.

“I am the same.” He told her, nodding to himself and keeping them both under the umbrella. Moving his hand higher up her back, to give her some room to breathe, Blaise smiled down at the now brunette. “I like your hair, suits you.” He moved to brush a strand out of her face. Her eyes were closed now, and he wondered why. He hoped she was not pretending that he didn’t exist, he thought maybe that would hurt much more than not seeing her at all.
