Michelle was waiting patiently for her students to come. As usual, there is a cup of steaming coffee on her table besides a pile of books. She had been reading all day which was her hobby since she was a child. She checked the room if everything was in place. She organized her desk and she took a sip of her coffee. ![]() She sat at her stool and eventually she heard noises outside the door. She flicked her wand letting her students enter the room. She smiled at them and waited for them to settle down and get prepared for the lesson. "Well then today guys we are going to look into detail at the moon, yes the moon, that big blob in the night time sky." she laughed. "If I remember correctly even Muggle's say the moon is made out of cheese. It may be a jest for them but here in the Wizarding world, it is true. A few hundred or more years back a wizard wanted to fly to the moon. He tried many spells and they never worked. One day he got so angry he used a rare and forbidden magic that launched him into outer space and onto the moon. He wasn't sure what to do so as he fell he turned the spot he was going to land into cheese so it wouldn't hurt. At least that is the 'legend'. It is just on the border between the lighted and the dark side of the moon." she smiled. "So let's look at the different phases of the moon. At the time of a New Moon, the Moon's dark side is facing the Earth. The Moon is not visible unless there is a solar eclipse. Waxing Crescent, The moon appears to be less than half light up in direct sunlight, on the First Quarter, half of the Moon appears to be lit by direct sunlight. At Waxing Gibbous, the Moon appears to be more than half but not fully lit up by direct sunlight. All the phases of the light appear to be INCREASING, ok?" she smiled, looking around the class to see if everyone had got it, a few faces looked puzzled, others intrigued. "On the next Full Moon, the Moon's fully lit up side is facing the Earth, the Moon also appears to be completely illuminated by direct sunlight." She added. "Waning Gibbous, the Moon appears to be more than one-half but not fully lit up by direct sunlight." Michelle paused for a moment to allow her student to catch up with their notes. "On the Last Quarter, half of the Moon appears to be illuminated by direct sunlight and last but not least the Waning Crescent, in which the Moon appears less than one-half illuminated by direct sunlight." she sighed a sigh of relief after she had read all that. "Oh and all those are in which the light seems to be DECREASING." She smiled. "Well that's all for today, if you have any questions then don't hesitate in asking me, there's just a little homework today for you all, class dismissed." She muttered, walking back over to her desk to get on with some marking, the class began to leave the classroom. Homework: RP the lesson and take some notes. Write a small essay on any part of the moonAstronomy,1,3 |

Stella was one of the first students to enter the classroom for this lesson, and she took a seat right at the front, smiling warily at Professor Castor. This course seemed to have some weird ideas about astronomy, and she hadn't received a satisfactory answer to her question last lesson, so she was reluctantly on her guard. Stella loved astronomy, she wanted so much to enjoy this course. But the last lesson had been so dismissive of science that it worried her immensely. This lesson, though, was a lot better. Stella was initially worried by the emphasis on the stories about the moon being made out of cheese (surely they didn't believe that?), but was swiftly reassured that the professor knew it was a legend, and was telling it as a funny story. Stella was interested to hear about the phases of the moon, and thrilled to hear that their homework was another research project. She took detailed notes, complete with diagrams. Stella left the classroom trying to work out which aspect of the moon she should write about. It was so interesting, she wanted to write everything. Choosing one part was something of an odd assignment. Eventually she decided, and eagerly got started on her essay.

Hudson headed to the Astronomy classroom, it was late and he felt tired after the long day he had. Yawning he wondered how everyone else seemed to be so talkative as they walked into the classroom. He sat down next to Stella a girl in his house. He listened to the Professor lecture about the moon never having learned the different names for the stages of the moon before. It made the young boy wonder what the days between the stages were called, if someone had created the name for the day before it was a full moon. Shrugging his shoulders at the thought Hudson continued to take notes for the duration of the class.
