[justify]Jon was still in the midst of organizing small changes to his seventh years' class curriculum but he tried not to let his stress over everything show as the students arrived. They had enough stress over their NEWTs to deal with and Jon was sure the last thing the class needed was to see someone that was supposed to be a role model stressed over their classes as well. He smiled while watching everyone in the class take their seats and opened his mouth to introduce the lesson when he believed everyone was comfortable.

"Today's lesson is about muggle oddities. Things muggles do or use in everyday life that are rather, odd by wizarding standards. Or at least they're more odd to us wizards than everything else they do. Something I've always found odd yet interesting in the muggle world are the things they have invented to make walking easier." He turned around to pull a skateboard from his desk and held it towards the class. "This is a skateboard. You can see that in the simplest terms it's a curved plank of wood with four wheels. Muggles would stand on the wooden part and alternate between standing with both feet, and using one leg to push against the ground to create movement." He flipped the skateboard around so the class could get a better look before placing it on the stone floor and kicking it to one side. "and no, I won't embarrass myself to demonstrate how it works. You can try it for yourselves!"

He smiled and shook his head as he turned to his desk a second time to pick up a pair of roller skates. He leaned forwards and showed them to the class in much the same way as he did the skateboard. "These are roller skates. They look just like your standard muggle lace-up shoe, but of course, they each have six wheels at the bottom. Muggles would put these on, just like they do with shoes. They would use their balance to stand up, and move by alternating their weight on each foot while keeping momentum by pushing off the ground in a similar way they would with a skateboard." When he finished speaking, he turned back around to place them on his desk. "Now, why are these things considered to be odd? Well, first of all, while they are useful in a muggle's everyday life and can get muggles to and from places a lot faster, some may say they replace the effort of walking with something that might include more effort than walking, depending on how you look at it. It's debatable whether a skateboard takes more effort to learn than it would take to spend twenty minutes walking." He glanced around the room to ensure everyone was paying attention. "But that's a matter of opinion, I'll let you all form your own thoughts on it."

With a clap of his hands, Jon decided it was time to wrap up the lesson. "This lesson has been short and sweet, but that's it for today." He smiled as the students stood up and began packing away their belongings. "Oh, I almost forgot to mention, the only homework you have is to remember this lesson! Have a great week!" Bidding a wave, Jonathon remained standing at his spot in front of the class until every student had left and the room was emptied completely.
