It had been a relief to return to teaching, to have a schedule and a sense of familiarity that kept him distracted from his personal life and most importantly motivated to make sure everyone in his class could learn all they needed to. Jon had been considering making many changes to his class curriculum that year although fortunately his fifth year's would not be seeing any of the changes. Their course seemed solid to Jon, and important to the understanding of Muggles as film was a way to capture many different aspects of Muggle life. He felt confident in what he was teaching his fifth years and did not hesitate to greet the class as they arrived and took their seats within the room. "Good morning everyone! You will be taking a lot of notes this lesson, so be prepared!" He exclaimed before explaining the subject material of the lesson. "Today's lesson will be a brief introduction to muggle cinema. You will learn how movies, or films are made, as well as some of the most basic knowledge of how the world of muggle film works." Jonathon stepped to one side, revealing the movie camera on his desk before he turned towards the blackboard that held the student's notes.
The professor waited for a few minutes so the class had the opportunity to copy the notes. He continued speaking when he noticed many of the students had finished writing, so he could elaborate on how films were made. "Films, or movies, whatever you would like to call them, are recorded on these things known as Cameras. They are similar to our magical cameras, though they are also very different because of the technology that was put into building them." Jon returned the classes attention to the camera on his desk. "This is a film camera, one of the many kinds of cameras that can be used for creating a film. It's an example that I hope will help everyone understand how films are made." He picked up the camera and handed it to one of the students in the front row. "I would like you to pass this around so everyone can get a closer look." He smiled as he remained at the front of the class, choosing to dismiss the lesson once the camera had been returned to his desk. "That's all for today everyone!" Jon exclaimed as the sound of parchment and quills being packed away and students shuffling out of the room filled the air. "Oh, and before I forget, your homework is to tell me the name of a famous film, and to explain to me what has made the film famous!" He called as the students filed out of the room. Homework: Name a famous film and explain why it is considered to be famous for extra credit!Muggle Studies,5,2 |

Lilyanna was glad when classes started for another wee as it could take her mind off various thoughts. For one, the girl was still unsure whether or not she should tell Diane about how she felt. The nurse was right in saying that Diane wouldn't be much of a friend if she left after telling her such news and it was the main thought Lilyanna was pondering over. Telling her would definitely take some added pressure off her shoulders, but if anything were to happen, she didn't want it to get in the way of her school work. The prefect quickly packed everything she needed for that day and headed promptly to her next class. As Lilyanna entered the Muggle Studies classroom she took her usual seat at the front and waited for the lesson to begin. Muggle cinema was definitely not the best topic taught so far in the subject, but as the professor spoke the girl thought that it was rather interesting and tried her best to write down every single thing that was being said. As the camera was beginning to be passed around, Lilyanna took it carefully from the professor and turned it around in her hands to have a close look. It amazed Lilyanna how someone could come up with something so intelligent and the girl still kept her eyes on it even as she had passed it on. When the lesson ended, Lilyanna thanked the professor before leaving the room. |
