Lesson Missed: Lesson One

Kat enjoyed the walk down to the greenhouses for her Herbology lesson, it was nice to be able to get outside some! She was looking forward to the class. Working with plants wasn't her favorite thing in the world, but she knew it would help a lot with Potions if she could understand the different properties of plants and how to grow and harvest them.

As she walked into the classroom with her classmates, they were all greeted by the seemingly excited Professor. She took out a quill and parchment and began taking notes as began the lesson. At the end when her Professor handed out paper and pencils for their assignment, she was baffled. Of course she knew what they were, her mother preferred the muggle paper and pencil over parchment and quill, and thus had taught her daughter to use them as well. She just didn't expect to see any at Hogwarts! She'd have to tell her mother in her next letter home!

She began writing her assignment and giggled at the confused expressions on some of the other student's faces at the pencils.

What are you looking most forward to about Herbology?: I am looking forward to learning about the properties and correct harvesting techniques of plants, especially in regards to their use in potions!
Do you prefer lectures or going outside?: I much prefer going outside, but I understand that lectures are important as well.
If you have any questions, please write them here and I will answer them to the best of my ability:
Will we at any point be harvesting any plants specifically for the use in our potions lessons? I just think it would be a cool way to connect the classes and to help us to better understand the link between Herbology and Potions. Thank you!

No, but we will be working closely with plants that can be used in potions.

Lesson Missed: First Years, Lesson One

Eva wobbled after her other classmates, a large cloak adorning her shoulders with a backpack resting on her shoulders. Considerably smaller in both size and personality than the others, she struggled to keep up at all with the students and had to take a seat in an awkward place in the middle just underneath a dangling vine. It occasionally brushed upon her temple, much to Eva's annoyance.

As the somewhat vertically challenged professor lectured his children-filled greenhouse, many students either paid feverish attention or stared with boredom out of the slightly tinted green windows. Eva belonged to the former group. With a hurried hand, she scribbled down in her books about what this 'Herbology' was, and how it sounded very interesting. What could possibly make a plant magical? Well... obviously magic, but-... she continued flitting her hand across the pages.

What are you looking most forward to about Herbology? Learning how the magic gets into the plants and if they do respiration like normal plants and how the magic makes them do the things that they do.
Do you prefer lectures or going outside? Lectures are better
If you have any questions, please write them here and I will answer them to the best of my ability. Do I have to know lots about magic to learn Herbology? I don't know how to do magical things so perhaps I will not be very good.

No, not necessarily! I'm sure you will be fine!

Lessons Missed: Herbology Lesson 1

Luna walked into class and wondered what Herbology was going to be like this year, she wasn't the biggest fan reading about plants but maybe if the classes were practical she would take more of an interest. She took a seat in the second row and listened to everything the professor had to say, when he asked a questions she didn't want to be the first to answer but she was glad a Ravenclaw managed to get points for their house. When the professor handed out the paper and pencils she was a little disappointed, but it was only the first class so maybe things would be better next time.

Lessons Missed: Lesson two.

Nixon had enjoyed his first herbology lesson immensely and could not wait to attend his second herbology lesson of the year. He arrived to the greenhouses with an enthusiastic smile on his face, greeting the professor before moving to stand next to a pallet. As the professor introduced the lesson and stated that they would be learning about the different tools provided, Nixon nodded. He then looked at each of the tools as they were introduced, making a note in his mind of their names and how they looked so he would not get them mixed up later. After that the professor mentioned different kinds of soil, then announced the class would be having a treasure hunt to remember everything. Nixon was practically bouncing on the spot as the task was announced. He picked up each of the tools as he needed them, using them to dig into the pallets and retrieve the money that was at the bottom. Unfortunately Nixon was unable to retrieve an egg however he managed to find a few knuts. By the time the lesson was dismissed, Nixon felt comfortable with the tools and happy with his day enough to not mind that he didn't get a galleon. The small amount of change he had was more than enough of a keepsake for his second ever herbology lesson. He left the greenhouse feeling accomplished yet excited to see what he would learn in his next lesson.

lesson 2
With an upcoming game Theo’s mind had been very pre-occupied with that. He had to split his time but he wasn’t sure how good that was. The teen was feeling a little tired, and he wasn’t sure all this work was the best idea, being a quidditch player had been fine, but being a captain to a whole different amount of work and time. The boy liked it, but it was still a lot of work, undeniably so. The teen was getting ready for the day, unsure of what it might bring him, he had several classes, but he was sure that it would be the least amount of fun while his mind was preoccupied with the upcoming game. Or maybe the classes would ease his mind. Certainly he was planning on finding Emma after each day was over, or trying to find her, if she wasn’t in the classes with him so that he could spend some time with her, she would certainly help bring down his nervousness and apprehension about the up coming game. With that on his mind he put the remaining few things he needed into his bag and left the room.

Tholomyes walked into the herbology classroom and took a seat within the room. He looked up at the professor and waited for the man to get started. It wasn't long after everyone else had arrived that the man did indeed get started. He looked up from the man to the blackboard when he told them to look towards it. From his reading on the plant in preparation for this class he had gathered that it was an exceedingly dangerous plant, that it could kill but it was one of the plants that had a weakness. One thing Theo had liked about it, was the ability to draw it. He liked doing the twisting vines. It was an interesting aspect of it, that was nice to draw. He liked it. But he focused on the information that the professor was giving them about the plant, he took a few notes from it, who it had killed, how it had been practical in the second wizarding war to defeat, how it cowered and failed in light, which was an important aspect to know. He was glad however that that was the end of the lesson and he could pack away his things and leave the herbology class. Dangerous plants were certainly an interesting thing.

lesson 3
Tholomyes was disappointed by Ravenclaw’s loss in the quidditch game, but it wasn’t a huge deal. He thought they had played well, and it had certainly been a difficult game. The boy had put his sights on halloween, with Emma back, it meant he had more reason to be excited for any of the upcoming holidays, any of the upcoming school events. These were things he could do with her, things they could enjoy together. This was the thing Theo would most enjoy, really he just enjoyed spending the time with her at whatever event, for whatever reason. The teen was getting himself ready for the day, he was putting his finished homework into his bag and moving about the room putting together different bits and pieces that he needed to for the day. He had so much to put together, given what point of his schooling he was at, given that he also had to account for quidditch and being a prefect. Not that he was complaining about any of it. He grabbed the last few things he would need for that day and then left the dorm room and headed out to the class he had that day.

The prefect walked into the herbology greenhouse and took his usual spot within the classroom. he was rather looking forward to what they might be covering, he had been rather enjoying the studying he did before these classes, plants were always fun to sketch. He waited for the professor who appeared to be late, but he didn't mind it. When the professor arrived which was really only a few moments after he let a soft smile appear on his features as he looked towards the older man. He was surprised when it appeared that they would be doing a lot, seeing two plants while also planting one. he did as instructing, planting the screechsnap and being sure to not add too much fertilizer like had been instructed. With that done, he looked to the man and waited for others were done before they could move forward with the lesson. The followed the professor to the dangerous plants greenhouse and looked at the plants, at the very least they were beauties, truly magnificent plants. He looked to the man as he showed them the devil's snare before then moving on to the other plant, the new plant. It was an interesting looking plant, even if it literally ate people, it was interesting. Theo was definitely glad that they were only going to be looking at the plant. He felt reassured that they wouldn't be doing anything interesting. His notes were lacking, but as soon as they were dismissed he fixed his notes, adding to them what they'd seen about the plants as well as the second one what they had learned from the professor. With that the prefect left the class.

lesson 4
Tholomyes was so excited for the end of the semester, even though it was still a few week away, and the only thing he was truly excited for was the yuleball, he was yet to ask Emma, but he felt that it had to be a given, why wouldn’t she want to go with him, even if they just went as friends. Theo liked her so much, spending all this new time with her, he almost felt like he was falling in love with her. It was surreal, she filled his heart with joy, his art with muse. The boy had never been through a period where he enjoyed his artwork as long as this. The teen was getting ready for the day ahead of him, a small smile on his face the entire time. He knew that at a certain point everything was going to come crashing down, but for now, he was just riding a high. The prefect put on his uniform and then began getting his stuff together. He sighed heavily as he realised that he had spilled paint on some of his homework. The teen put everything into his bag and then left the room.

The semester of herbology had certainly been interesting so far and the prefect was rather excited about what the next lesson could bring him. He took his seat in the greenhouse and looked toward the professor as the man got started. He was rather eager to find out what they would be covering in this class. He looked at the potted plant and nodded, writing down what it was when the professor told them what it was. It was interesting to note that it was perfectly fine if it was well treated and if not then it wasn't. That made the boy smile as he copied down more of what the professor was saying about the plant and though it was dangerous until like the last plant that ate people or the one that squeezed folk to death this probably didn't kill unless it hit an artery with its bites. he didn't particularly want to touch the plant, but was happy to just look at it from afar. The ravenclaw was not a very adventurous person, he preferred things he knew wouldn't potentially hurt him, so he just happily noted they had no homework and left the classroom. Certainly these dangerous plants were interesting. They could enjoy how they looked from afar, and there was something fun in his art when he was able to add dangerous plants to it. With that however he went back to the great hall to get a little lunch before the rest of the day.

lesson 5
Since the yuleball was quickly approaching, the boy had been spending a great deal of time getting things he would need for the event together. It didn’t even matter that he had classes and exams to get through before then. But with Emma, he had lost so much time with her, he really wanted this. He wanted the date to go well. He needed it to. The boy was getting ready for the day ahead of him. Since their next game wasn’t until the next semester he was feeling pretty excited about it, this semester felt so different than all the ones that came before it, he felt happier, he liked this school for once, the colour seemed to return to the world to him. He was smiling more easily, and he actually wanted to spend time with others. The teen pinned the prefect to his uniform as he put the last bits and pieces together. He gathered up the books he would need, the completed homework and walked out of the dorm room, heading to the class of the day.

Tholomyes was surprised when upon arriving at the greenhouse the professor told them they wouldn't be learning anything rather they would be heading to the some diner to talk about plants and relax. It would be an odd lesson sure, but he was all for it. As much as he liked the classes, he was happy to spend some time out of the room and just relaxing. He took a hold of the portkey with the others in the class and was taken by it to the diner. The boy took the drink he was offered, and just sat mostly listening to what others were saying, enjoying the drink and the fact they were even there. It had been an interesting semester, dangerous plants were an odd bunch, like most magical plants, since he hd always known plants as really just non-moving, non-sentient things, but magical plants changed so much of that for him. Instead he was faced with plants that moved, that did things, that could communicate with other plants. He loved it. The boy gave his opinion on things if the topic peaked his interest enough but mostly he just enjoyed being there. All too soon the class came to an end and they left the diner, going back to the school. He thanked the professor for the lesson, and the drink before leaving the greenhouse.

Wilfred had always rather liked plants, and it was for this reason that he was so excited for Herbology. It was outdoors (sort of, at least), and required him to run across the grounds to get there. This was perfect. The professor seemed rather friendly when the Hufflepuff entered, and he took a seat near Patrick. He greeted his fellow Hufflepuff with a smile, and unpacked his things to prepare for the lesson to begin taking notes of the lecture.

Wilfred started his notes immediately, though he had a decent grasp of Herbology simply because of his upbringing – though he suspected he had never seen a proper magical plant. His papi was rather harsh towards them, and every plant he had seen was completely tamed into near-lifelessness. Wilfred accepted the piece of paper that came around for him and looked at it, finding it to be rather straight forward. Once he filled it out and the class came to a close, he handed it in and left the classroom.

What are you looking most forward to about Herbology?: Getting to look at plants and maybe growing some.
Do you prefer lectures or going outside?: Going outside!
If you have any questions, please write them here and I will answer them to the best of my ability: Nothing of note c:

After the success of the first week, and several letters back home already written and sent, Wilfred was in a bright and dazzling mood today. The greenhouse looked slightly different today, as there were numerous tops (some of which he was able to identify), which there were loads of dirt and sand on one side. Wilfred looked around for the closest pallet, and stood beside it with a considerable amount of curiousity bubbling within him. This was sounding more and more like a cool, interactive lecture when he also got to play with dirt - this was going to be awesome.

Wilfred struggled to his excitement at the mere mention of a treasure hunt - Trevor would be all over this like a dragonpox rash. This was the best thing ever. He didn't really need money, but maybe he could convince the professor to let him keep the egg and put a smiley face on it. The Hufflepuff began as soon as he was allowed, digging carefully through the different soil types, finding that the mattock certainly worked better with the clay - if he were delicate. If he swung too hard, the clay simply clung to the mattock and he almost developed a hernia trying to free it. The draw how helped with retrieving stuck mattocks, at least. Wilfred basically decided that the rake was useless - it was somewhat useful with the drier soil, but he found that basically everything else worked better than the rake. The hardest sample he found was the sand, as it reburied everything if he didn't pat it down correctly. The Hufflepuff found several knits and sickles, but he wasn't really interested in those at all. He wanted an egg. With a face.

The eggs were being gathered all around him, but the Hufflepuff knew that there were not all twelve found (or destroyed) yet. He needed to either work faster or harder if he wanted a chance to find one successfully before the end of class, but doing either in the wrong balance would surely end in a cracked egg that would be completely useless to him. He couldn't send a cracked egg home, not only would his papi disown him, but it couldn't successfully have a face on it if it were leaking. The Hufflepuff was almost leaning right into the pallets searching, and dirtying his uniform quite substantially, but at the end of it his wishes were realised - there was a discernible white shell-like object within his part of clay, just waiting to be excavated.

Wilfred employed maximum delicacy, scraping away with the side of the mallock bit by bit so that the clingy clay peeled off naturally. One last flake was removed, and his glorious egg was ready for harvest! The egg was treated like gold as Wilfred fished it out, and immediately he went to the professor with his work - but on the way, disaster struck. Wilfred slipped, and he lacked the paternal instincts to guard his egg with his life, and fell on it, crushing the poor thing. Time stood still as the Hufflepuff assessed the damage. He was wearing his egg on his chest, in about a million different pieces, and the goop that belonged inside his egg was all over the outside, and him, too. Wilfred took a deep breath and picked himself up, eyes getting glassy but not beading quite yet. He felt as if all of his ambitions were completely ruined, and he waited until after the rest of his classmates had left before approaching the professor with his (devastating) story. There was some crying involved, and after being comforted by the professor (as well as cleaned up, which was nice of him), Wilfred was gifted his own egg to send home. Professor Carter was instantly promoted to Wilfred's all-time favourite professor (and definitely warranted being written home about) and would now become the subject of his egg (except with a moustache, because moustaches were cool).
Since the events of last lesson, Wilfred had been inspired to adore Herbology. How couldn't he love it? The professor was the best, and Herbology had a lot of active participation that Wilfred just couldn't get enough of. Wilfred had a completely different answer for the question, so he was rather glad he wasn't called upon, but as soon as the professor explained that they would be dealing with pumpkins, Wilfred clued on to what they would be doing today.

Planting pumpkins sounded like fun. He pulled out his quill and ink to take notes on the pumpkins, before following the professor outside excitedly. There were many stations to work at, which was great. They were then given the instructions, which sounded fairly simple. He dropped the seed in the hole and began refilling the hole, before watering it generously. Then it was time for a spell! Wilfred made sure to remember the spell so that he could write it down in his book, and once the professor showed it to them, he burned the scene into his memory, before using it on his own pumpkin seed.
Wilfred had his gloves on so fast that he almost ripped holes at the tips. he was completely ready to fetch his pumpkin this lesson, and once he could his pumpkin, he had his pruning shears and was ready for work. It was disappointing that his usual professor was not present during the class (and he did hope that he was okay), but this was slightly too interesting to cause Wilfred to think too much on why his professor might not be at the class. The Hufflepuff had some strength behind his robust body, and so he carefully cut his pumpkin from its vine and it was ready to be transported.

He wasn't sure why they would have to levitate the pumpkins, however, as he was sure he could probably carry his pumpkin up to the castle. But, he never wasted a chance rouse more magic! The Hufflepuff eventually had his pumpkin levitating comfortably eventually, and it was time to get going towards the castle. Wilfred then lowered his pumpkin down at the entrance hall and returned to the greenhouse with his classmates after informing the house elves what he wanted his pumpkin to be.

EC: https://4everstatic.com/pictures/674xX/holidays/halloween-pumpkin,-jack-o-lantern,-autumn-leaves-162681.jpg
It was coming towards the end of the year, and Wilfred had butterflies in his stomach. The pumpkins had been amazing, and he had greatly enjoyed the entire thing. He was quite confused as to why they were going to the forbidden forest, however - considering its name, and all. He followed the professor after having put on his gloves, grabbed his back and a pair of pruning shears. Mistletoe sounded okay, but he really didn't care all that much about it. Either way, it was an adventure during class, so he would accept it regardless, and skipped along behind the professor without a worry in the world.

Wilfred didn't have his parchment and quill available to take notes, so he just listened and nodded align to the pforessor's explanation of mistletoe. When they reached the mistletoe, he put on his gloves and approached some mistletoe to start pruning it and placing it into his bag. Once he was eventually done, after gathering quite a bit of mistletoe, he returned to the greenhouse with the professor and started cutting them as the professor demonstrated. Once the classroom came to an end, the young Hufflepuff left, thinking about his lovely clumps of mistletoe.

Name: Simon Vanity
House/Year: ravenclaw, 1st
Lessons Missed: 2-5

lesson 2
The first week had gone well, but the second week was when things got better, when they got more interesting. The part-veela had found the first week a little odd, they’d done some work, but not a lot, and he knew this had to be because they needed to introduce each of the teachers and each of the subjects, but it had felt a little pointless. Now that they were in the second week he was much more eager and ready about the work they would be doing. Simon was getting ready for the day, he was placing the books into his bag and wondering which of the classes he liked so far, but given they’d barely done any work in any of them, still so far it was none of them. He liked them, but none was a stand out one in the same way that in muggle school he’d enjoyed english. The boy put the last of what he believed he would need for this day. He took his wand, hopeful that they might get to some spell casting, having already learned on in his own time, he was keen to learn another. With that, he left the dorm and went to class.

Simon walked into the herbology green house and automatically took a seat at the front. If he was going to be the best he needed to sit at the front. He wondered what they would be doing. The last lesson had been to teach them a little about the class itself, and all the first classes they were doing seemed to be about the basics of the classes, which he didn't mind, it meant he could learn some of the basics before they got too into it. As the professor began Simon moved as instructed to one of the pallets. He looked at it and then up to the man as he explained what they would be using today and what was inside of the pallet, different types of dirt. This would certainly be an interesting class. He made mental notes of what the man was saying so that he could write the information down later. he might need it for his studying and he really didn't want to be without. He listened to last instructions of what they would be doing that day and nodded. He spent little time before just jumping right into it. Digging as he was supposed to, and searching for some items. he found a few things, not too much but not nothing either. With that the lesson was brought to an end and he was able to leave the room. He washed his hands thoroughly though he hadn't used them to dig before heading back to the castle.

lesson 3
With another week in front of him, Simon was dedicating himself more and more into the school work he was doing. There admittedly wasn’t too much of it, but what there was, he was enjoying. It was a new challenge every day and they were in fact learning a couple of spells. It wasn’t the perfect idea of what he had in mind for classes, but it was shaping up to be a lot of fun, and so far none of the classes had presented him with a challenge he could not do. However, he was only three weeks in and that could be understood by the simplicity of the classes he had. The concentration he could and did muster for them was what usually kept him going. Simon was placing his books into his bag, the little easy bits of homework and his wand. His writing utensils stayed in his bag, since he’d brought two sets. With that he check the time, and checked his time table before leaving the dorm and heading to the class he had that day. He was as ever eager to get to the room and prove himself to others.

Simon smiled at the professor as he waltzed into the greenhouse for another herbology lesson. he was curious about what they would do and was surprised when they'd be covering pumpkins, though with halloween up coming it did make some sense. He took out his notes and began writing down what was written on the board behind the professor about pumpkins. He knew a little about them, not much but enough that he felt that the points were a little dull. Once done, he put away his writing utensils and walked outside to where the professor was. it wasn't long until the entire class was outside and they were able to move on with the lesson. Clearly they would planting them. Simon liked that, it was an element of practical herbology. he liked when there were practical elements in a class. The boy listened to the instructions and then did it. he got down on his hands and knees, took the spade and dug a small hole. He placed the seed inside and refilled the hole, lightly tapping the soil down with his hand. He gave it a good amount of water and waited for the next instructions which was a spell. Simon had his wand on his person and took it out. having it hover above the dirt and where his seed was and said with all his confidence, "Sementis medicates," to his surprise it began growing more rapidly and right in front of his eyes. With that the lesson was over, he cleaned himself up, gathered his things and left to go back to castle.

lesson 4
Simon was so happy for the way the first semester was turning out, he was doing well in it. The young ravenclaw was enjoying all the classes that he currently had. Flying hadn’t been a good idea, it was a bad thing, well, he just didn’t like the classes, but he was trying his best. He was enjoying and working hard at all aspects of this school. He wanted nothing more than to do well, and this first semester was something that would show it, show how he was, show how good the school could be. Show how much he was going to dominate and be simply the best he could. The ravenclaw woke up bright and early, spending the early hours on his usual run, heading back to the dorm room when it was finally time for him to get ready for class. It was then that he got changed, put on his uniform after a quick shower and made sure his bag was fully ready for the day. He grabbed his wand and walked out of the room. The young ravenclaw was excited for every day, for every lesson in this school. He couldn’t wait more of them, he couldn’t wait for all of it. He loved school.

The boy arrived at the greenhouse and noted that it wasn't their usual professor in front of them. The boy didn't mind but he had grown to like the professor they'd had in the prior lessons. But regardless, this professor wasted no time in getting started. In taking them out to the field where they had in the last week planted the pumkins. He walked over to his, finding it with ease, he had a good memory for these things. His gaze went back to the professor as she told them what to do. How to cut the pumpkin down from it. He listened to the instructions and did so. Using all his strength to cut the pumpkin apart from the vine and then following the professor to using the charm to levitate it. Since he hadn't yet had charms, it took him a few attempts before he got it right and was able to support the pumpkin but when he did he was pleased with himself, so much so that he walked with the rest of the class, with swagger of confidence. Though he hadn't gotten it first time and pretty much everyone had gotten it in the end he still felt so happy and pleased with himself that he had gotten it. The boy handed his pumpkin to the elves and then went back to class to gather his things. It hadn't been a long lesson but he had enjoyed it. Even if this was only true because he liked the fact he'd done a spell.

lesson 5
There was so much to do around the school, and Simon was definitely enjoying what the classes were allowing him to do, though this was the first few lessons of his school career and there wasn’t much that they’d learned that he probably could’ve done on his own, he was thoroughly enjoying all of it. The ravenclaw smiled to himself as he got himself ready for the day. Simon had been doing all the homework to the best of his abilities, so he stuffed that into his bag quickly with a wide grin. The ravenclaw knew that he would do well in this semester and he wanted to make a good impression in the first semester to show how serious he was taking this doing the best idea. It wasn’t all talk, it was going to happen, he was going to do well. The ravenclaw put his uniform on, he had grown quite fond of ravenclaw, of being a ravenclaw, despite the fact that prior to sorting he had felt no emotional attachment to any house, but he figure that living in one of the houses did far more for his appreciation and connection to it than actually liking the house. With that thought he gather the last of the things he would need before heading out of the room.

Simon walked into the greenhouse and was really happy to see the professor back in the class. He smiled at the man and welcomed him back. He didn't know what they would be doing with this lesson, but he was eager to get started. He was surprised that they would be collecting mistletoe for the yuleball, but he figured that someone had to, what did it matter if it was them who were doing it. He grabbed his gloves and a pair of shears, he followed the rest of the class and the professor to the area of the forest which had the mistletoe. He had no idea that the plant was parasitic. It was an interesting thing, an interesting piece of information that he was happy to learn. The boy took one of the bags and began to prune the mistletoe as he had been shown to do by the professor, slowly by surely filling up the bag that he had. It was easy work really, nothing too complex, and he was rather happy with it. He wouldn't want to do this sort of thing forever, but for now, it was good, it was easy. He thew the scraps into the compost heap and then handed in the mistletoe to the professor. With that he left the class and headed to ravenclaw dorms.

Name: Noemie Vanity
House/Year: Ravenclaw, 4th
Lessons Missed: 3

Noemie had been happy with her performance in the game, it hadn’t been her best performance, but it certainly had been a good game. They hadn’t won, but she felt good about it. She knew how to try to improve and she felt confident in her own abilities. She was smiling to herself as she walked into the dorm room, she’d spent the early morning on the pitch, doing some quidditch prep, doing some sprints and generally working out, mixing it in with her quidditch. The teen was feeling pretty good about all the work that had gone in, and she was feeling pretty eager about it when she considered that the halloween feast was coming up and she was looking forward to it. She’d put together a rather silly costume well, an easy one. She wanted to make sure it suited her while also just being an easy thing to wear. She took a long shower before getting ready for the day, putting her clothes on, the uniform, getting her books in her bag. She was smiling with ease as she put her hair up changing it into something more manageable and appropriate for school. With that she put her wand in her bag and left.

Noemie walked into the herbology greenhouse knowing exactly what she was going to be getting into. She knew and had done the reading for it. She wore long sleeves and ensure that the clothes she wore weren't anything new. After all she definitely didn't want this puss anywhere. She got to the class and picked up a pair of goggles before heading to where the professor wanted them. Where a field of the disgust plant sat before them. She couldn't help but frown at the sight of it. She listened to the professor's instructions and was glad that they wouldn't be doing too much, just spreading the dirt over them and that would it. The teen did so, not enjoying the feeling but still doing it. It was obvious in the way Noemie was walking that she was intentionally being overly careful. She didn't want to have to spend much time in this class doing this, so when it was all done, the girl gladly left the area, washed her hands thoroughly multiple times and then headed back to school.

Name: Daniel Rosemary
House/Year: Slytherin 6th Year
Lessons Missed: 3-5

Lesson Three

Dan arrived to Herbology and quickly took his seat, assuming he was a bit late, but when he noticed that the professor was not there yet he sighed in relief. Finally, Professor Welch did arrive and apologised for being late but that meant that Daniel wasn't in trouble for arriving slightly later than usual. They weren't going to be using this specific greenhouse however, so after planting the Screechsnap, Dan got up and followed the rest of the class where they would be looking at dangerous plants. Daniel had to admit that although they were dangerous, working with them didn't sound that bad. They were looking at the Devil's Snare, not a plant the sixth year would ever want to deal with in his life, and soon moved on to the next one. The name of the plant sounded ridiculous, was it really that dangerous? Professor Welch mentioned what the plant did, and all thoughts of why the Snargaluff could possibly be dangerous disappeared from his mind. Of course there always had to be a reason if the specific plants they studied were dangerous and not to mess with. Thankfully, they were not going to harvest the pods of the Snargaluff. After they learned about this plant, it was the end of the lesson. The boy went out of the greenhouse, remembered his bag in the other one and fetched it, before heading back up to the castle.

Lesson Four

Herbology that week would be in the classroom as usual, unlike last week's lesson. Dan took his seat as he entered and the lesson began almost as soon as he took out his things in order to take down notes. Dan didn't even flinch when the professor took a piece of wood and the plant they were learning that day immediately snatched it away from Professor Welch's hand, which was a close one. Somehow the Slytherin remembered something about the similar muggle plant - his mother loved to tend to the garden they had back home. It was partly the reason he chose Herbology in the first place, learning about plants could be really useful. Some people went closer to the plant to examine it, but from where he sat Daniel could see just fine and he definitely wasn't in the mood to be at risk. They were dismissed shortly afterwards, Dan packed up and left the classroom.

Lesson Five

When Dan arrived to Herbology that week, and had soon sat down and Professor Welch began the lesson, what he said first was not what the Slytherin expected. In fact, he was happy that at least the professor understood how much a break could boost his energy for the day as he had to study and catch up and do other endless, small tasks. The students followed the man out of the classroom and to the portkey, where they'd be going to a diner. Daniel would have been a bit concerned if some of his classmates didn't know what a portkey was, considering they had been at Hogwarts and were exposed to magic since first year, but because he was tired he didn't necessarily mind or care that much. Once seated and with a drink in hand, Dan listened quietly as some chatted about what they had learned this semester. Then before the hour was up they were back at school and Daniel thanked the professor as he headed out of the classroom for the second last time that semester.

Lessons Missed: 1-5

Lesson One:
Izzy was happy to be back at school, she had more motivation for this year than the previous years she'd been at school and so she hoped that this semester would be a good one. She arrived to the greenhouse, and made a mental note of what they'd be learning this year. Then she grabbed her belongings and left the greenhouse, heading back up to the castle.

Lesson Two:
The upcoming Quidditch game made Izzy a little nervous, she wasn't used to being this nervous before a game but she figured it was because it was the first game of the season and therefore Isabelle needed to make her house proud, with Tholomyes by her side as co-captain she was sure they could do it. They had a wonderful team, new members, hopefully that would allow them to play their best. She blinked once, needing to focus. It was a lecture of one of the dangerous plants they'd be learning about, the Devil's Snare. Izzy was a bit disappointed that they weren't going to be shown the plant, but she understood why. She wrote down the homework as well, then when dismissed she packed up and left the classroom.

Lesson Three:
Last week hadn't been the best week for the Ravenclaw, they lost the Quidditch match even though it had been a tight match, still Izzy pondered over whether the team should practice. It wasn't possible winning every match, but it had been a while since they won one. She shook her head to clear it, entering the classroom and taking a seat. She waited for the professor to arrive, once he did, they got started, planting the Screechsnap by putting the seeds into a pot and giving them enough fertiliser. She got up once done and the class went to see the dangerous plants, finally. Izzy forgot about the Quidditch loss as she took in the plants that were in the greenhouse. Soon, time was up, so Isabelle thanked Professor Welch and left.

Lesson Four:
Izzy arrived to the classroom, wondering what today's lesson would be about. She loved learning, and she needed to do well for the rest of her school career. Izzy couldn't be distracted by anything anymore, she needed to focus. So she took out her things needed to write notes, and sighed. They were dismissed before she knew it, so Izzy packed away and left the classroom.

Lesson Five:
The semester was drawing to an end. The sixth year Prefect had half a mind to write to her father, then remembered about the new family he - and as he made very clear Isabelle too - were part of, and thought better of it. She wasn't in the mood to deal with another problem in her life. She decided she would write to her mother instead. That would surely cheer her up. Isabelle took a seat when she arrived to her next lesson, and waited for the lesson to begin. They weren't to use the classroom, however, and Isabelle shrugged as the class portkeyed to a small diner on the other side of the island, an unfamiliar area to the brunette. Izzy remained quiet while everyone talked about the plants, as she would rather listen than join in the discussion. After a while it was time to go and when they were all safely back at the castle Isabelle smiled at the professor in thanks before heading to the common room.

Name: Alexis Sage Kramer
House/Year:Ravenclaw First Years
Lesson(s) Missed: Lesson 2-5

Lesson 2

Alexis arrived at the greenhouses for their second lesson. Since the introductions were done, she knew they would start learning in this class. True enough, there were rows of pallets with different sand and soil in them. They all stood in front of them as they waited for more instructions from Prof. Carter. The class started with an introduction to learning the different tools needed in this class. It was a bit basic which Alexis noticed from other students might be a bit boring. However, when the teacher announced that they would go on a treasure hunt, everyone was beyond excited, Alexis included.

The hunt started and they were off to trying the tools. Alexis tried a few tools and found them work on the first pallet. She started on the right side, working her way towards the center. To her delight, she found two Knuts and a Sickle. Inspired by the coins she got, she continued digging until she reached the bottom, adding another Sickle to her find. She decided to move on to the second pallet, choosing another tool since the first one was a bit difficult to work with. Upon her first scrape of the dirt, she was ecstatic to find an egg looking up at her. With this,
she carefully removed the soil around it, barely touching the egg with her finger. When it was free from the dirt,
she gingerly picked it up and set it beside the money she dug. She started working on the pallet again, finding two Knuts and one Sickle. The young Ravenclaw moved on her third pallet and began working faster before the time ended. She was able to dig one more Knut before she found another egg. She began working on it faster and was able to fish it out of the pallet before the time ended.

With dirt on her hands, she carefully picked up her find - two eggs, three Sickles and five Knuts - and handed them in to the teacher. She then left the greenhouses and went back to the castle.

Lesson 3

Third class began with a lecture on pumpkins which Alexis was not entirely fond of. She took out her notes and wrote them down.
Notes

After jotting them down, she and her classmates followed Prof. Carter outside where they were going to plant some pumpkins for the Halloween. She followed the directions and was actually enjoying it. Then, she chanted the spell, "Sementis medicates." She watched it grow until a yellow colored melon appeared. When the class was over, she labeled her pot and planned to come back to check on it from time to time.

Lesson 4

In front stood a different professor instead of Prof. Carter. They were all told to suit up and grab their pruning shears and follow her outside. Alexis located her pumpkin and harvested it, following the teacher's instructions. It had grown well and looked heavy to carry herself. Good thing she taught them the levitation spell which she followed. Waving her wand, Alexis said, "Wingardium Leviosa.",making her pumpkin float to her level. Then they went back to the castle where they placed their pumpkins on the ground and was a bit surprised when some house elves came out and carried them away. Then they went back to the greenhouses to get their stuff.

Lesson 5

Alexis couldn't believe that it was their fifth lesson already. They were all gathered and was told by Prof. Carter that they were going to the forest to gather some mistletoe. Alexis was a bit excited since it would be an opportunity, for her, to go there without punishment. They all went out and once there, instructed on what to do. They all set to work and Alexis tried her best to gather as many as she could. She placed them in the trough when the class was finished and waited for her classmates so that they could go back to the castle together.

Mistletoe

Lesson 6

Alexis was in her sixth lesson. She was a bit tired from all the revisions and studying last night. She was tempted to skip class but was afraid to miss on something. So, here she was, seating and quietly observing the class. The class started promptly with a review on their past lessons. It was a matter of getting to give the answer first and earn points for the house. Normally, Alexis would take part in this kind of activities. But not today. She was too tired to join in. So she just watched as Bradley, Nixon and Winchester - all Hufflepuffs- answered and earned the points. After the short review, they all went out with their pruning shears and harvested the flowering bulbs. She located the one with her name and carefully harvested it. She admired its beauty despite the tiredness she felt. After the class, she gave them to Prof. Carter, put back her shears and made her way back to the castle.

Heartfelt gratitude goes to AWESOME ANNALEISE!

Name:Jerara Tapsell
House/Year: Ravenclaw, third year
Lessons Missed: 1

Jerara had even more classes this semester, but the boy didn’t regret a thing. He knew it was a lot of work but he was happy to do it. The last semester had been amazing, he hadn’t done as well as he had hoped but he had pulled pretty good grades and he was definitely ready for this moving forward. He had more classes this semester and he knew it would be just fine. He would continue to put the work in and he would get everything done. The boy had learned how to manage his time, and though he had once thought about joining the quidditch team, he just knew it wasn’t now possible. He couldn’t do it. There was no time for him to. The teen was getting himself ready, knowing that there would be a lot of introductory classes this week, but knowing that he still needed to have the right books for each of them. So once he was sure he had everything, including his wand he left the dorm room. There was no time for him to have any breakfast he would need to have something after so he headed straight for the class.

Jerara walked into the greenhouse, very excited about this class, herbology was probably still one of his favourite classes at school. he had thoroughly enjoyed raising the mandrakes in the year before. The ravenclaw looked up at the professor as the man began his lesson. He looked at the board behind the man and very quickly wrote down the points. He was sure that this information would be vital to the exam and the classes that would follow in this class. He focused on what the professor then went on to say, addressing some of the points, with that the lesson appeared to be over, it wasn't a very long lesson, but it gave Jerara an idea of what they would be covering during this semester in the class. It was certainly going to be interesting. He made sure he had the bullet points on the board copied correctly before he packed up his things and left the herbology greenhouse, heading back inside the school.

Zared Katsaros

independent & distant | sixth year

Name: Zared Katsaros
House/Year: Slytherin, 5th
Lessons Missed: 1&2

Zared stepped into the dorm room, having had breakfast and gotten a little work done. He had high plans for himself which meant doing well in the classes he had. It meant doing well in the upcoming exams, all of which were likely to be very difficult, most of which would involve an element of practical that he would stumble and fail at. After all, it was the practical part of the class that he could not do. The boy brushed a hand through his hair as he got himself ready for the day, washing himself up, getting his bag together, putting on his uniform. Pinning the prefect badge which he loved to his chest. That was the best part of this school, of the hard work he had so far put in. He had high hopes that he would one day become head boy, but he found himself pretty satisfied by just being a prefect. It was difficult enough to achieve and he knew his grades needed to improve for him to get anything else. With that thought on his mind he packed up his things and left the room, heading to class straight away.

Zared was looking to at least one piece of work in the classes he had, but he hadn't yet done any. It appeared that it didn't matter that they were in their OWLs, there was spare time to waste. He stepped into the greenhouse, ignoring the professor at the front of the room who was their new herbology professor until they left school. The teen didn't have to wait long and he was almost thankful that they appeared to be doing a little more in the class, they were actually going over what they would be learning in the upcoming classes of herbology. This year seemed like it could be quite interesting to him. It wasn't the most interesting classes he had currently, but it wasn't as boring as other years of this class had been. The slytherin was surprised when that was the current lesson over, that they wouldn't be learning anything more in this. He packed up his things and left the herbology greenhouse, looking forward to the semester but still annoyed by the lack of work that they'd done so far in this semester. Hopefully they would just get stuck in in the next week.

Lesson 2
Zared had really taken to being a prefect, the extra common room was a godsend for him, he was able to spend time with Elysia as they both studied in silence. It was the one place that they wouldn’t be disturbed by kids looking for prefects to help them with something that they should be working out for themselves. He usually got up fairly early and so to study he often went there. The boy only really returned to the dorm when it was necessary for him to get changed into his uniform and then go to class, which was exactly what he was doing now. Zared smiled to himself as he got ready, the one good thing in his life right now was his relationship with Elysia, that was good, simple and easy. He didn’t have to worry about it at all. He didn’t say much but he was sure his actions spoke exactly how he felt towards her. With that thought, he knew he would see her in class, so he finished getting his things for the day together and left the dorm room, he had everything he would need to attend the class he had and then spent the rest of the time in the prefect’s common room studying.

Zared had higher hopes for this week of herbology as he stepped into the greenhouse. He could help but think this, they had such a boring semester so far and they were supposed to be in their OWL year. He looked at the professor as the man began the lesson showing the plant to them. He watched as the man showed them how to collect the pods, and found it rather silly to have to watch so closely when to him it felt like a given that it would be done like that. He sighed to himself but set to work as soon as they were allowed to. It wasn't very involved and it wasn't particularly interesting but it would do. It would be if this was more difficult or the plant was more dangerous, but Zared found little challenge in it. Instead managing with ease to remove the pods, and breaking not one. He knew how to be careful when the moment required him to be. Eventually the lesson came to an end, and he was able to stop what he was doing. Zared put his books away and left the room. It had been a better lesson than the last week but it still wasn't what he was looking for in a lesson. They were supposed to be learning about dangerous plants.

Ares Jeffreys

day dreamer | Chaser & Captain | Imaginative | trying harder | Brotherhood Social Chair

Name:Ares Jeffreys
House/Year: Hufflepuff, 5th
Lessons Missed: 1&2

Ares had a lot on his plate, he had a lot to be doing, between his OWLs, his quidditch and additional duties else where, there was hardly any time to stop. He now understood why his older brother had never really had the time to spend with them. He was always doing something else, Ares just had to thank his head of house for not giving him extra work in the form of a prefect. He was happier his brother had gotten that. There was however a lot of work to be done in this semester. He had a lot of classes to attend, and he intended to get as good grades as he could in them. He wanted to do well in his OWLs. The quidditch was his favourite thing to do, but he was going to have a back up and that meant studying hard. In the last semester he had slacked off a little, knowing his exams were a little away but now he had to focus. It was why he had drawn up a new timetable for himself to fit everything in. Hopefully he could stick to it, but for now he packed up the things he needed and left the dorm room.

Ares walked into the herbology greenhouse gladly, smiling softly to himself about what they would likely be doing in this class. He had heard good things about this class of herbology, well this professor and this semester, which made him pretty eager to sit and learn about plants. He looked up at the professor at the front of the room as the man got started on what they were doing that day, which was mostly a welcome back to herbology, and how difficult the OWLs were before doing a run down of the stuff they would be covering in the next few lessons, he liked the idea of covering dangerous plants but he wasn't sure how well he was going to be actually faced with them, since he wasn't a gryffindor by any means. In his imagination he would face them with ease, with a gleeful ease. However with that, it was the end of the lesson and he was able to pack up his things and leave the herbology greenhouse, heading straight to the quidditch pitch, for just a little practice. After all it was right there. He could hardly not.

Lesson 2
Ares felt like he had the weight of the world on his back. He didn’t know how anyone who was quidditch captain didn’t. He didn’t want to let his team down, they were a good team, they worked well, and they all worked hard. He was hopeful that the upcoming quidditch game would go better than the last. In the end he knew that this would either show him to be a good captain or not, and then he’d have to decide if he kept at it. He liked doing it yes, but he didn’t think he was good at it, which was a different more serious problem. If he wasn’t good he couldn’t lead the team, and he would just always be destined to play and not lead. Which wasn’t really a bad thing. Ares pushed those thoughts out of his head, since he had his school work to focus on, he knew this semester was important and he knew he needed to do well in it. The teen was hopeful of his chances of getting good grades, he just had to work for them. The teen put the last of the things he would need into his bag before he left the room.

Ares was rather eager for the lesson of herbology and so he arrived at the class with plenty of time. He sat down in the room and took out both his books and his wand. He wasn't sure what they would be covering but this question was quickly answered when the professor showed them the plant they would be working with. He looked at it and nodded. It was an odd looking plant but he liked it. They'd be actually working with it, which Ares liked. He watched as the professor showed them how to deal with the plant. He watched very carefully, not wanting to get it wrong when it was over to them. He nodded along until, it was ultimately up to them, then he got the plant and began removing the pods from them as he had been shown how to do by the professor. He was pretty eager to get it right, and so he took his time, working very carefully in dealing with the delicate pods. It didn't seem to be all that dangerous but he just didn't want to drop too many or be the reason that any of them broke. The teen worked carefully until the lesson was over and he was able to pack up his things and leave the greenhouses.
