Everyone was well engaged in conversations of their own. Smaller groups huddle around the table, the largest were spreading within the crowd. But the small groups didn't interest him enough to move closer, neither the larger ones as well. His sister had wonder off, probably to sign an autograph or two. He let her be. As fascinating being famous and recognize in the public, it's not the sort of attention he wanted on him. Eros kept moving, weaving in and out of the crowd when he spotted the minister and he assumed was his wife and children? Deputy minister oversight the fair, he noticed the man as well speaking to one of his peers. He wonder when the Minister will speak? It'd be lovely to hear a speech, maybe some encouraging words for the future of the wizarding world. He hope to at least get the chance to hear him speak.

stop staring ... I had spattergroit, ok!

This vacation had been the best in her entire existence, she had never had a friend to share her holidays with before but this time ... Norton had come to stay at her home and she had gone to the muggle world to experience that by staying at his home. She had felt like the worst friend imaginable because in all the time they had spent with one another at school, she had never really asked about his family or his home life other than her fascination with all things muggle. She hadn't even known that he had a twin sister who attended the school and was also in their year. Minerva had felt utterly stupid about that because she had seen the girl in their shared classes with Gilly's house but had obviously been so wrapped up in herself and her studies that it had passed her by. But it was also the fact that Norton had lost his mother, she had put her foot in it the very first few minutes of being in his home asking when his mom would be back, thinking she was simply at work or something.

That entire visit had been a complete eye opener for her and she had promised that no matter how important her studies were to her, that her best friend was just as important, if not more so and she would do all she could to make sure she really took an interest in him life and family outside of Hogwarts, after all if it weren't for Norton, she wouldn't have stepped out from her under her shell and attempted to make other friends. She had written to Elly a few times and she had written to Alistair as well, not wanting to lose touch with either of them over the holidays.

Today however herself and Norton had decided to go to the career's fair at obsidian, it promised to be very exciting and she hoped that it would give him ideas on what he wanted to do with his future career. When they got there it was already busy and she gave a cursory look at all the stands about them, healers, magical creatures, ministry officials of all departments seemed to be about but she saw nothing about books or about quidditch. She thought surely there would be a few professional players to talk to students who were interested in taking the game on as a career. Minerva had thought that if there was, Norton would be a shoe in for sure.

"I don't mind" she told him honestly, this was after all mainly for him and wherever he wanted to go she would follow, "absolutely, there's quite a few stalls so maybe take a few brochures or pamphlets from each, have a nose through to see what you might like the most and return to that stand. They have a magical creature one ... I bet Steve Irwin would have loved to have had a nose at that!"

He had introduced her to the wonders of television and shown her footage of old television shows where this really amazing man got himself into all manner of scrapes with some deadly animals. She could see where the stand was but there seemed to be a group of people before it, so shrugged and waited for Norton to take the lead.

Leon had met many people over the years who had expressed an interest in working with dragons but quite a few of these had ended up meaning to gut the creatures for body parts while others had thought it would be a cool career until he had told them details. Interest usually waned after that but he wasn't going to go and blow this girls enthusiasm for the sake of it, she was starting young which he thought commendable. By the time she was old enough to apply for any job involving dragons, she'd have a fair bit of knowledge under her belt.

"I wouldn't say protect them exactly, but yeah they take care of them. You have dragon feeders and dragon keepers mainly at reserves" he chuckled lightly as he shoved his hands into his pockets, "dragon keepers is just the less fancy name for a dragonologist to be honest. You have those that specialize in certain dragons but at a reserve you can have lots of different ones, so they usually just call themselves keepers."

He noted the stubborn tone in her voice and wiped the smile off his own, he hadn't meant to make it sound like he was condescending no matter how young she was. Someone else might just have easily patted her on the head and told her to run along and let the hard work to the boys but that wasn't Leon's way. When she began telling him about her reason for her interest in dragons, he listened carefully to her, nodding his head in acknowledgement. She genuinely had the bug alright.

"Mine?" he exhaled slowly, no one had asked him that in a long time. Glancing momentarily at his niece who was still deep in conversation with a few other students and Marcel, Leon turned his attention back to the girl, "You know ... there's one explanation I give to everyone because ... well, people don't often like hearing ... bad things. It's the easy explanation, that I excelled at my care of magical creatures class in school and my brother pushed me to do something in relation to that when I left."

Was he really going to tell this child, this total stranger his story? He looked at her face and sighed softly before rubbing at his beard, "real story ..." the pause wasn't for effect, it was needed, only himself and his brother and two others knew the story and they were all dead now, "I was thirteen ... my brother was my sole guardian at the time and busy ... I lived in England then and found myself with nothing to do one day, bored out of my tree on my summer holidays, so ... I went wandering, just hiking off into mountain country about four miles from where we lived. Mist rolled in about an hour into my hike and I could barely see in front of me. I took a fall on my way down and broke my leg, I couldn't move and couldn't use my wand. I was there for a few hours, it was getting dark and I was in and out of consciousness. At one point when I woke, there was a dragon" he looked skyward recalling the moment, he had been terrified out of his wits, convinced in that moment that he was going to die, "I thought that was it, I'd never see home again ... the dragon picked me up in it's claw and brought me higher up the mountain, it burnt a tree right before me and I seriously was terrified but he laid me down on the ground and kept his wing about me. He was trying to give me heat, keep me warm and I fell asleep again. The next thing I remember is waking up hearing my brother shouting my name. The dragon let out a roar but ... at the time I thought he was going to swoop down and get him but now I know that he was alerting them to where I was. He waited until they were closer and then he took off into the sky. My brother and a medi-healer and a family friend who was an auror got me and brought me to St. Mungos, all of us completely stunned by what had happened. I knew then that everything I thought I knew up until that point about dragons was a load of crap ... pardon my French, so I applied for the Beast department as soon as I was out of school and had to go through various divisions before I finally got accepted into the dragon division and the rest ... is history" he looked at the girl again, hoping he hadn't bored her senseless.

Glad that the books at least were something more than the simple ministry pamphlet's, Leon nodded his head to reassure her.

"You're welcome ... I'm Leon" he smiled at her then when she asked if he actually did work with dragons, "I work in research and restraint ... which basically means that when a dragon is spotted, I go in to the rescue and I don't mean rescuing muggles or magic folk, I mean I rescue the dragon but that's between you and me, ok?" he chuckled again, "and the research ... well, like I said - most information that I read as a kid about dragons had turned out to be wrong, so I set about documenting and researching what was right" this kid really did ask a lot of questions he mused, trying to keep up with her but it only proved to him exactly how much interest she genuinely had, "favourite breed ... probably one of the most dangerous breeds of all, it's tiny for a dragon I mean it only grows to about 15feet, it's the Peruvian Vipertooth, completely deadly it's fangs are poisonous and it eats just about anything but mainly humans, so researching has been pretty da... hairy. I've been bitten, burnt, scarred, broken limbs ... I end up in Mungo's for a spell and then I'm out again"

He turned to put his back towards her and lifted up the end of his jacket and ti-shirt beneath, the shriveled scarring of what had clearly been a terrible burn was still livid across his back. He lowered his clothing again and turned to face her.

"Every job has it's perks and every job has it's pitfalls, but I love what I do and wouldn't change it for anything. So what is yours ... your favourite dragon?"

The social worker at the healer's table was very friendly and Amber listened to her explanation carefully. "So you help people with their health... but like their mental health?" Amber asked, making sure she got it right. "What sorts of problems do people generally come to you with?" She was curious how serious this job was and how much it entailed. "What sort of subjects would you recommend for this career path? I'm in my fourth year so my OWLs are coming in a little less than two years, and I want to be prepared if I pick this as my future career path." She really didn't know yet what she wanted, but this was at least something to consider.

Sophie listened to the woman's explanation of the department, her eyebrows raising slowly. "You're not really selling me to it." She said with a skeptical look at a pamphlet as she picked it up. "Repetitive, not the greatest job in the world... I mean, it's realistic but aren't you worried you'll crush some poor kids dreams who thinks everyone can get their dream job after school?" She eyed her. "I mean, I assume you weren't dreaming of being ... a ministry transportation floo person, or whatever when you were my age." She looked at the pamphlet one last time before decidedly putting it back on the table. "I'll keep it in mind if all my other options fall through." She said dismissively."Good luck with your gate keeping and fireplace sweeping or whatever."

Former Gryffindor ❀ℛ❀ The Three Broomsticks Proprietress ❀ℛ❀ Always Yours

It was a lovely morning and the Career Fair was in full swing. Rhi decided to take a walk around the said event to see what her former colleagues were up to. She had not worked there but was in acquaintance with some of them when she still worked as a librarian for Hogwarts. She sighed as she recalled those years. Shaking off her head, she started walking around, stopping once in a while to look into some pamphlets and stuff they had in their booths.

Five minutes into her stroll, she came across the Beast Division of the Ministry, particularly the Dragon Research and Restraint Bureau. She stopped at the side of the booth just as the man manning the booth showed the student his scars from the dragons, or so she just heard. She was interested in dragons as well, even had one miniature when she was a student. Thinking it would be rude to just stand there idly, she cleared her throat and asked, "How does it feel working with dragons?", Simple question, she admitted but enough to start a conversation. Boy, she needed to get out often and make friendships again.

Since it was the holidays, Irene decided to go around Obsidian Harbour for some shopping for herself and maybe had her lunch there. She was just about to enter one of the shops she frequented when she noticed the bustling activity. She forgot that it was the Career Fair and she was actually planning to join in.

Letting go of the shop door, she decided to have a look at the fair. She had worked at the Ministry of Magic before, training to be an auror then became one of the employees for one of the departments. She was hoping to bump into anybody whom she had acquainted before. She was just walking around, stopping once in a while when she heard her name being called. She looked around, trying to find the source of the voice.

Anyone working for at the Ministry can reply to this. I was hoping that this would be a way for Irene to develop her character now.[/ooc]

Shite. Rowan worked hard on her displayed and all the information she gather, only for it to be thrown right in her face. She would curse the snotty little shite if she could. But she won't, respectively, that kinda behavior unacceptable. And because the work she did was just as important as any other in whichever department you looked at. "You know, you're right. But that's the kinda thing those with privilege status would say!" Rowan shot back, thought she smiled even laughed taking back the pamphlet. "Maybe it's time you stop being the oppressor and get me a dream job as some singer in a witches band?" Rowan went on. It was to be expected, not everyone was going to value or like the work she did. She could only do so much to make it sound interesting. At the end if the day, it is, what it is. "Cheers! Good luck in your life adventures! Hope it gets you far!" Rowan called after the snotty little shite. Mouthy as that one was, Rowan would laugh and remember that kid someday. Now, all she wanted was to have a long break and enjoy some chips. Argh! She was beginning to feel hungry as the day went on.

[ooc=no worries] she was funny, i laughed![/ooc]

Fleur eagerly absorbed all the information he threw at her, wishing she had brought something to take notes with. She nodded as he spoke, transfixed by his words. What she liked most about this was that he was taking her seriously. Or at least doing a very good impression of it if he wasn't. Her eyes widened when the man started telling her a very personal story, her mouth hanging open slightly as she listened. He had met a real dragon? And it had helped him? It made her own story look incredibly weak in comparison, but she didn't even care. She was enthralled. She covered her mouth with her hand, speechless for a moment. "Wow." She said softly. "Makes my book story sound sorta lame, doesn't it? Wow... that's pretty incredible." She said softly, clearly awed.

Listening to more information about the man's job, she really started to like him. He was doing pretty much exactly what she wanted to do later, and she was so very happy she had convinced her parents to make the trip here today. She was glad he answered all her questions, it made her feel like he wasn't just brushing her off by handing her some books and letting her do the research herself. She grinned when he mentioned the Peruvian Vipertooth, it was a pretty awesome one. Her eyes widened again at the scar he showed her, but it didn't change her mind about what she wanted. She understood that he wanted her to know the real consequences of the job and what it entailed, and she was glad he didn't sugarcoat it.

She had rarely been this quiet, but everything she had heard now made her want to think and read the books he had given her. She definitely wanted to seek him out again when she had graduated. He asked her a question again and she suddenly felt a little shy, like her answer was silly compared to everything he had said. It wasn't something she felt often and it took her a moment to find her words. "Uhm, I like the Swedish Short-Snout." She said after a moment. "Their fire is supposed to be super powerful and blue, and it can reduce trees to ash in seconds! They're also beautiful." She had read their nice skins were often used to make gloves and shields of, which was part of what made want to work with these creatures. "Um, I should probably go now I've been sort of hogging the table." She said, glancing self consciously at the woman that walked up and asked him a question as well. "Thank you so so much! You've really helped me a ton." She said, nodding earnestly.

It was definitely pleasing to see such an interest in the topic of his department. Konstantin hadn't been so sure anyone would take enough notice, compared to the other, more popular occupations [resent. There were never any shortages of youth wanting to be healers or magizoologists. "It's difficult to say. New charms may be invented more often than we think, but not shared by the inventors to be recorded by the Ministry. As for what we do record, new charms aren't invented on a weekly basis, but they're created often enough. It's difficult to put an exact frame of time to them, they all take different lengths of time to be tested and recorded down. Some are never refined enough to be considered usable, either." The man tried to explain as best he could. "New charms are created generally out of necessity. Most of the important spells you'll need to know were already created early on, so we continue using a lot of them to this day, which is why they're taught generation after generation. New spells are added to the schools curriculum from time to time, but it very much depends on how important it will be for your age group, and how much content is already in the course. If you're looking for spells that might not have made it into any revised editions of your textbooks, you might be more interested in coming by the Ministry and having a look at our public records. As for how it works, we it goes back to necessity. The idea comes first. The severing charm for example was created by a seamstress, and her want to cut fabrics more accurately. As more becomes necessary to do, spells are created to fulfill that necessity."

A second youth popped up to the table with questions of his own, and Konstantin was grateful none of them bore him repeating himself. "The most relevant classes would be charms, of course, and any other subject that applies magic practically. Knowing history is also beneficial to working in the department." Compared to some other occupations, the committee didn't have a great deal of prerequisites, but those that were needed required a lot of effort in order to ensure safety. "The length of time to create a spell depends on the individual and their own skill, as well as the complexity of the goal they're looking to achieve. Its not an easy process in anyones case. Its all varied between the witches and wizards we work with. I believe there have likely been times that a spell has been pulled to be further refined and tested in the past, but not since I've worked there. It's not a common case, we research and trial extensively. Bear in mind that all spells, even the ones you've learned now, have the potential to backfire if used wrong."

The first boy spoke up again, and Konstantin nodded his head. "There are quite a few laws on what can or can't be created, most you'll learn about in school. There's also limitations to magic and how far it can be pushed. Its impossible for us to create a spell to resurrect a person for example - body and soul, so we don't pursue what we know can't be done. To my knowledge, there aren't any charms being worked on by the department itself at this current time, though we are working to assist others attempting to do so, which I can't speak about due to breaching their personal privacy and patent laws."

Tristan listened with interest to the man's response, mentally noting some of the things he said so he could look them up later. He wondered what he meant with a spell being 'refined enough', but didn't want to look like an idiot by asking. The idea to look around at the ministry sometime at their public records was a good one. "I think I will do that." He said with a smile. It made sense that he couldn't tell him about any charms in particular at this time, though it disappointed him. "Thank you very much for your time." He told the man politely. "Good luck with the rest of the fair." He had grabbed some pamphlets and then with a last nod at both the man and his friend, he headed off. He wasn't sure if Jerara would want to ask more questions, but Tristan had more he wanted to see here. He kept an eye out for the deputy minister, but felt like he probably wouldn't feel confident enough to go to him today.

[ Social worker at ST Mungo ]

The fact that the girl was actually interested in the job made Paige more excited. The girl seemed really nice and that was a plus for a social worker. ''Yes, that is exactly what I do'' Paige smiled broadly,
the girl knew what she meant. ''Well, we get people suffering from mental illnesses and other mental problems'' Paige couldn't go into too much details, but she could always tell the girl the broad lining. ''We also get people that want to talk about traumatic happenings in their lives.'' Paige muttered slowly. She loved her work, but sometimes people had witnessed a lot in their lives.

''Let's see, you will need Muggle studies to really know the psyche of people and sometimes potions is handy, but I think the best subject is one that can't be learned its knowledge of human nature. Paige said happily, it was something that this girl wanted to follow her footsteps and maybe become her future colleague.
