Magizoologist | Reckless

Marcel looked at Leon for a second when another girl approached their stand, hoping that he could deal with her questions since he knew much more about dragons than he did. Shortly after that, another person joined their stand, a boy this time.''I love working as a magizoologist,'' he told the boy before answering the girl's question. ''Like I said earlier, a magizoologist is a person who studies magical creatures. You could either collect magical creatures and study them at a workplace or you could travel around the country, or the world, and study creatures as you come across them. Getting into it isn't difficult at all really, as long as you are studying more than one breed of creatures you are good, so no, it isn't hard to achieve at all.'' he said to the older girl and boy. ''You could also take Potions and Herbology besides Care of Magical Creatures seeing as those would definitely come in handy while you are busy studying them, think of healing creatures with potions or herbs if they need to be healed, or if you are out of food for them mix herbs together to make food that way.'' Marcel told them, excited to answer more questions if the two had them.

Reisha waited for the man Marcel to give her an answer to her question when a young man much about her own age came to the table as well, her uncle was already in the throes of replying to the other girl who wanted to know all about dragons but the boy seemed to simply jump ahead in and ask a question of his own without any head to the possibility that there might have been a queue. She looked at him for a moment, recalling students from her old school who had so often jumped the line but never really for anything like this. She wondered if he was seriously that interested or simply that rude, before she could fathom an answer for either, Marcel the magizoologist replied to the pair of them.

"Collect magical creatures?" she asked, a slight frown marring her brow as she contemplated this, "do you need a permit or license to collect magical creatures? I mean some have specific ratings but ... where would you store them ... a person couldn't very well carry them about in a case now ... can they?"

|| Beast Division:- Dragon Research and Restraint Bureau | Guardian of Reisha ||
[ * ]
Leon was delighted that Reisha had listened to him at least but all her questions from there on were directed at Marcel, he shrugged not minding in the slightest but turned as a much younger girl approached their stand and asked about dragons. Leon gave a soft chuckle and nodded his head.
"Here girl, I work with dragons" he told her, the look on her expectant young face informing him that she was serious about this and not wanting to be fobbed off just because she was really young. As far as he was concerned if she knew at her age what she wanted to do with the rest of her life, fair pay to her but life never played ball quite the way you wanted it to.

"The Ministry has a division in the beast department solely for dragons, for researching and restraining them but there's also dragonologists who research specific types of dragons and make that their life work ... there's also dragon reserves. You need to be strong in subjects like charms and defense against the dark arts because that class gives you the best protection against fire incantations, but Care of Magical Creatures is good to have under your belt too" he told her, "any particular reason why you want to work with dragons? It's not fun and games, it's hard work and not for the faint hearted" there was no point in sugar coating it for her, it was hard work, exhausting to say the least.

He picked up the three books he had written himself, all autographed copies as well - not that it ever really mattered he thought and he gave them to her without any charge. Something he wasn't want to do at all really.

"There's a lot of information in these books about dragons, breeding, spells to help restrain them, dragons native to different countries, which ones are man eating and which ones simply like to blast fire and are vicious but there's also ones that are small and not so bad really. It's best to know what you're up against before taking on the career itself but when you graduate and this is still something you want to do ... look me up. Leon ... Leonidas Messier" he smiled at the girl again and hoped something of what he had said was helpful.

Tristan listened to the man, interested to hear it was actually part of the ministry and what the department did. "Do new charms get invented often?" He asked the man curiously. "I always got the feeling the one's we are learning at school are the same ones the generations before us learned." He didn't have magical parents to ask about this, but the books that contained the spells looked very old. "Do you think of a useful idea for a spell and then try to create it, or does it work differently?" Tristan glanced again at the deputy Minister at the edge of the fair, wondering how the man had gotten his job. As interesting as this all sounded, it did sound very specific and like the sort of department someone worked for their whole life. Not one they used as a stepping stone to greater things. But it was still definitely a job worth considering for his future.

Tristan smiled at Jerara when he joined and asked some questions as well, really practical ones. He had more to ask himself, so he did, hoping the guy could keep up. "I assume there are certain laws about what you can and can't make. Is there anything you're working on now or are you not allowed to say?" He paused. "Or maybe something you have worked on in the past that is now an actual spell?" He was wondering how many new spells were actually made, and how realistic the idea of getting to create one was even if he worked for this department. "Unless I have the wrong idea of what it is you do in the department." He added, the man had said they oversaw the development and application, that didn't necessarily mean he actually worked on making them himself. There were probably different levels within the department, and Tristan had no idea how any of it worked.

Quiet | Snarky | Imaginative | Hogwarts Monthly Reporter

Sophie had separated from her sister as soon as she could, and she watched Amber approach a table where another girl was already waiting. Sophie didn't know why she had bothered to come here. She was twelve years old, why would she need to know what she wanted to do yet? She had hoped at least to meet a journalist or reporter, someone who worked for the Daily Prophet or something. A career in journalism was something she was starting to consider, as she really loved working for Hogwarts Monthly, but she didn't see anyone like that so far.

Instead she found herself in front of a booth where a lady had decided to bring a whole fireplace. Sophie looked at it, nonplussed. "I suppose that's more eye-catching than a poster." She told the woman dryly. "So you're like... someone who works on the floo system or something?" She picked up a pamphlet, privately thinking there wasn't anything that sounded more boring than working for the department of 'wizarding transportation'. But she was here now, she might as well pick up a thing or two. "So what is it you do, exactly?" She asked with a small frown.

[ Social worker at ST Mungo ]

Paige greeted Tybalt happily and looked at him. He was a nice colleague and if you worked with people you couldn't be evil reincarnated. Another girl joined at their table and she was speaking directly to her. ''There are actually lots of other jobs at St. Mungo then being a healer.'' Paige worked together with therapists, psychiatrists and other mental professions. People always needed healing, but not everything could be healed. Even in the magical world untreatable diseases existed. ''As a social worker I talk with people basically'' Paige paused ''People come to me with their problems and then we talk about it'' That was the general idea of her job. ''I hate needles and blood so that isn't involved'' Paige smiled ''We have Tybalt for that part'' pointing at her colleague. ''It is a mentally demanding job, but you get a lot in return'' Paige loved her job and didn't want to be a healer anymore.

[justify]Bee had heard all about the Career Fair on the wizarding wireless radio while at home with her dad, who encouraged her to go to it. She had even seen the ads for it posted all over the street where she worked at Honeydukes. She liked working at the sweets shop but she definitely had big plans for her future. She had already talked about it with her Head of House, who coincidentally happened to be the Minister's wife, so now she hoped for this to be the next big step in her future plans. If the Ministry was hosting this event that had to mean the Minister would be there, right? Bee's father dropped her off and went to a bookstore to keep himself company because she had insisted that she could do this on her own, and she saw the crowd forming at the fair. She walked around looking at everything, already on a mission for someone in particular so she didn't stop at anyone's table really. She kept her eyes out for the Minister but she couldn't seem to find him which upset her. In her observation she saw that one man in particular seemed to be watching over the entire thing and not at his own table, unless the refreshments table was his area of expertise. She made an educated guess and figured he was simply overseeing the entire event, which meant he was in charge. Bee walked right over to him and said, "Excuse me sir, but where is the Minister of Magic?" trying to sound as polite and grown up as she possibly could.

[justify]Flavio was as curious to see what careers were out there for him in the wizarding world, as much as he was interested to see exactly what a 'careers fair' entailed. However he was nervous to attend alone, and too embarrassed to be seen following around one of his siblings after working to be independent from them during the school year. So he had therefore conveniently organized a catch up over ice cream with Rory on the same day the fair was being held, meaning he could drag his friend along with him. Rory wasn't happy to be dragged anywhere but that did not change Flavio's mind one bit and he was glad that with persistence Rory eventually gave in and joined him. At first Flavio simply surveyed his surroundings. He waved to Amber from a distance when he saw her but was soon distracted by an area that was dedicated to careers involving magical creatures. The table looked very occupied, with people already talking to other students, but that didn't stop Flavio from approaching it and looking over the flyers that were there. He didn't need to take part in the conversations or disturb them to ask questions himself and was more than happy to just browse. Eventually a few questions popped into his head but he chose to wait until the right opportunity to ask, instead picking up one of the flyers and showing it to Rory in case he was interested.

Deputy Minister - Gentleman - Raising Elsa - Kind

[justify]Mikhail held a cup of punch at his side, as he watched the event with a gentle smile on his face. This was what he wanted, and the children seemed to be enjoying themselves. However, Mikhail did not really expect anyone to come to him. Not that he didn't want them to, just that he didn't really have a table or anything interesting to say. He served under the Minister, and had his own thing at the same time. A young woman asked him where the Minister was. Mikhail sipped his punch to clear his throat before speaking clearly, "I imagine he is with his wife. Where you find the Gryffindor Head of House, that is where you will find Mr. Kingsley." Mikhail looked around the crowd before spotting him. He gestured gently with one hand, toward the couple, "Right over there, miss."

[justify]Rowan looked up, mind had wander off until someone interrupted. "Got cha covered right here!" Rowan pointed in the direction of the cardboard background. Nothing special on it, just repeated information that you could easily get from the pamphlets alone. "Yeah! Or something!" Rowan rolled her eyes over. No respect. She can't blame the youth. In all honesty, Rowan never imagine herself holding this position until it was time to make an important decision after Hogwarts. It all came down to working at the Ministry, or up an Ireland, doing Merlin knows what.

"A bit of everything, I suppose you could say. You're basically gate keeper to the network! Paying attention to details. Who coming in and out, who using the network legally. Making sure connected network are safe and secure. If there any illegal activity it is to be reported!" Rowan picked up a pamphlet going over, maybe a little more over the basic than needed. "It can be a LITTLE bit, repetitive, it's not the greatest job in the world. But, things do happen. And the Ministry counting on my department to keep everything running smoothly. Things do happen as I've said, you've got to be quick with a wand just in case!"

Marcel nodded his head at the girl's question. ''Often magizoologist collect the magical creatures they come across to study them all at one place.'' he told her. ''You do need a permit, yes. For magical creatures with the classification from 1 X to 3 X's, it's not that difficult to get a permit for, as long as the Ministry knows that you are capable enough to handle those creatures. For creatures with the classification from 4 X's to 5 X's it is difficult to get a permit for since creatures put in those categories are very dangerous.'' Marcel was glad that the girl had so many questions to ask because he loved talking about his job and magical creatures in general. ''Some start a zoo, others use an Extension Charm on trunks, backpacks, tents, anything that can store things really.''

As the Magizoologist spoke, another approached the stand and Reisha stood a little off to the side to make room, at least this one didn't go blustering in the way the other had she mused while taking in what Marcel was telling them about different classifications and extension charms. She didn't know that charm yet but was definitely going to look into it.

"Thanks, thank you" she told him in her almost quaint English accent, glancing to the boys nearby to see if they had anything further to ask. She figured she would mill about and hear just in case it was of interest to her too, there was no point in coming to this thing if you didn't get everything out of it that you needed, she figured. Putting the pamphlets that Marcel Haynes had given her into her bag, she crossed her arms waiting for the next question to be posed to him.

Only once did she glance at her uncle to see how he was doing and couldn't help but give a grin which she attempted to hide when she saw him giving the girl copies of his books.

Fleur looked at the man that said he worked with dragons, her jaw set in case he tried to tell her to move along because of her young age. She listened intently to his words, trying to remember it all. Research, restraining, specific research... it all sounded quite complicated. The mention of reserves caught her attention. "What sorts of jobs are there at reserves? Like people who take care of dragons and protect them?" It sounded silly even to her own ears that she as an eleven year old girl was talking about protecting fire breathing beasts, but some types of dragons were endangered because of hunters. At least, that's what she had heard. She frowned a little. "I know it's not just fun and games." She told him stubbornly. "It's hard work and people get burned and hurt a lot, I know that." She thought for a moment about her reasons, wondering if he would find it adequate as a reason for picking a career. "I have this book that used to be my grandfather's, it's older but has these really big illustrations of dragons in it." She said with a small shrug. "I used to just look at the pictures when I was young, but then when I got older I just got interested in them in general. I learned dragons get killed for their scales or heartstrings or just because they're misunderstood and people are scared of them sometimes and I hate that. They're powerful and I know some things need to be used in potions and whatnot, and I understand why they need to be restrained too but they're still creatures." She wasn't sure if she was explaining herself very well and shrugged. "And they're just really cool. So strong and magical." She added. "What was your reason for working with them?" She asked, looking at him with a slight challenge in her eyes, if he dared to say her reason wasn't good enough she would say the same to him, no matter what it might be.

She watched him pick up three books with some confusion until he handed them to her. Her eyes widened. "Um, are you sure?" She asked, glancing down at the books before clutching them to her chest protectively, as if she wouldn't give them back for anything regardless of his answer. "Thank you!" She said, a grin appearing on her face. "Thank you so much!" She glanced down at the books in her arms once more before looking at him again. "What is it you do exactly? Do you get to work with dragons personally? Did you ever get burned by one? Bitten? What's your favorite breed?" The questions popped into her mind and she barely paused to think before asking them, even though the man had already been generous enough to give her books. Part of her reasoned that if he didn't want questions, he shouldn't be at this career fair. Though she was certainly very grateful that he was here, this was exactly what she had been hoping for.

[justify]Norton was so excited about the career's fair and not just because it was going to be spent with Min. He'd been at her house a few days so far and really had fallen in love with all the aspects of her family. At the beginning he'd been a little jealous of her mother, of wholeness of the family, but her siblings had been so enjoyable to play with it had quickly all filtered away. Now he was stood just at the careers fair with Min at his side. They'd ditched the families and come to this, which he was excited about. He didn't know what he wanted to do, but he certain knew that it had to be magical! He didn't want a dull muggle job, one without the fantasy of this magical world. He glanced at all the faces, spotting so many from the school that he at least knew by face. He glanced at Min and knew that while they were both here, this was mostly for him. He didn't know who to approach first, or what jobs any of them had. He felt suddenly tentative and nervous, "Where shall we go first?" he asked Min, hoping she might have an idea, maybe they should just walk around first, "Can we just wander around first, find out whose here?"

[justify]Rory had not wanted to spend one of his only days off at the fair but it just happened to fall on the day he and Flavio had decided to get ice cream. The slytherin was more than happy to get ice cream, it was spending the time at the fair he didn't want, but given that he figured maybe he should treat Flavio a bit better and the other boy needed to figure out his career path that Rory allowed himself to be dragged along. Rory didn't need some guy or some woman from any of the careers here to entice him. He knew exactly where he would end up after school, there was a reason his father made him work over the break. His future was set, and while he was sort of dating Annabelle, that too was only temporary, something with which to pass the time. The teen stood with Flavio as he glanced over the surroundings and he definitely didn't follow Flavio's example of waving to amber, instead he just narrowed his eyes at the awful girl. Eventually it seemed that something took his friend's fancy so Rory followed behind until the boy stopped. Within this crowd he spotted a few people he knew, one of the other team's players, and another was a girl he had served in ollivanders. Rory stood a little behind Flavio letting him get closer and only took the leaflet when it was handed to him. Rory scoffed slightly since there was no way he would need it, but with nothing else to do, he began to read what was in front of him, reading the leaflet. It actually sounded interesting, far more interesting than what was lined up for him to do, but rory knew with his father's business he would never have to really worry about his grades. The slytherin stuffed the leaflet into his pockets and waited patiently.
