Deputy Minister - Gentleman - Raising Elsa - Kind
![]()

Hosting an event such as a career fair was nothing short of amazing for the deputy minister. The area was cleared out for the afternoon, directing the workers and other wizards and witches in another direction to host the event. Mikhail hung a banner over the entrance to guide the students to the tables, which read 'Welcome to the Career Fair!'. Below the banner, a huge table with snacks and drinks appeared as prepared by the kind elves that he had asked for. The man took great care in organizing the event, from having a few tables out for different areas of the ministry, but not all considering that it would have taken too long, and a few other positions in the wizarding world. Some of the faces he recognized easily while others were a little too new for him to recognize at first. While he was hosting the event, Mikhail was glad that he was able to work with the school to get this underway. Announcements were made for a month on the radios, in the daily prophet, and even owled out some letters to the children of Hogwarts New Zealand. With a pleasant smile on his face, Mikhail looked to the tables, seeing those in the Ministry and giving them a nod off acknowledgement. The time was close to starting, and the deputy prayed that this would be a success. The children needed to see the different jobs there were, and what better way than hosting an event such as this? [ooc]All right, here is our first fair! Only those approved will be able to have their tables and talk to the students. Don't forget this is taking place between Y28 and Y29. So come on in! Any questions, pm me or a member of the site staff. Any in character questions directed to Mikhail will be answered as well. Have fun! [/ooc] |

Dog Lover + Warder

Mikael was rather excited for the Career Fair, as he couldn't think of anything cooler than showing off his occupation for the kids at the local school. He knew he liked it - it had changed his entire life, after all. He wasn't sure what to expect, but the warder was happy to go along to represent his business, and after a long discussion with Leopold, he managed to talk his partner into letting him be the one to attend. He wasn't entirely sure what it would entail, but the entire situation seemed straightforward enough - talk to students, 'inspire' them. He could do that. Warding was awesome anyway, he doubted he'd have much trouble with it. After all, it wasn't like he was trying to convince them how sitting behind a desk and calculating your Life Path was fun. He'd never really met the deputy before, but that didn't save the man from being greeted with a friendly wave and a hearty, "Hey there!" There was plenty of food, and Mikael made sure to stop by them to grab something to eat and a drink to wash it all down, before finding a spoke to sit. He had his name spelled out on a little sign and a bright smile to help break the ice. He was so ready! |

As a healer Tybalt had seen the appeal of doing the career's fair. he'd decided half way through his school what he wanted to do with his life and it had been his mission since then. However it took a lot of work to get to his point and he wanted to tell the students about it. Encourage them to consider becoming a healer despite the amount of work that it could take. The man stood at the table he'd been assigned to, bringing with him information about the various departments within the hospital as well as some of the information about what was required of a person to become a healer, the time it took and those sorts of things. He'd be sharing the stand with a woman called Paige (he thought) and she was a social worker, someone he did work closely with occasionally, or had when he'd been in the emergency department but still occasionally now. He was very curious to meet her and find out what she'd brought. But more so than that the man was definitely very excited about the prospect of telling the students interested about how great and rewarding being a healer was. |

Leonidas was doing everything in his power to make sure that New Zealand felt like a home to Reisha his niece and ward, the family summer home that had once belonged to her mother's side of the family was now their home and he had gone to a lot of effort to make it feel like a home. His job here was different in many aspects from England, it was the same position but there were more dragons in this part of the world that were dangerous but then again, everything this side of the hemisphere was more dangerous, especially their snakes and spiders. The first few months had felt like a rookie again, retraining some of his skill set to deal with more lethal dragons. The advertisement in the ministry to be part of the career fair made a lot of sense to him, there certainly weren't enough people within the department trained in dragon restraint or it's research, in fact most of the beast department could do with more staff but that was only his opinion. Everyone wanted to be an auror or some other career position that sounded cool. Sure dealing with dragons may not have been cool and sure you could get seriously burnt, scarred or killed but it was exciting and it was interesting. He had three books on dragons under his belt, the first one had done reasonably well but the second two had become best sellers and he was still figuring that one out. He was just glad that his application to work a table at the fair had been accepted, he knew he would be manning it with another worker from the beast division but he hadn't been told who. He was actually looking forward to meeting someone else, he knew Lucas and one or two others but that was it really. His job didn't give him much time to befriend people. Leon just hoped he could put a real good spin on the job that he adored doing, new recruits were always needed. |

Ever since Marcel was a kid he dreamed of working with magical creatures, so naturally he thought that it would be a good idea to volunteer for the career fair and hope that more children shared his love for the magical creatures in this world. It wasn't a simple job as it required a lot of knowledge about creatures, plants and sometimes even potions but it was a rather fun one - and you didn't even have to graduate from school to become one, although he wasn't going to tell any of the children that little detail because he didn't want to be responsible for them dropping out of school. Marcel smiled and nodded at the Deputy Minister before walking up to his stand. He had never been with in a room with such an important man so the fact that he was made him feel a little bit nervous. Once at the stand he'd be sharing with someone else to talk about their jobs involving magical creatures, he waited for the fair to start. |

tagging: Marcel Haynes: Magical Creatures table Glancing around him, Leon saw none of the stands with anything with Beast Division on and taking the card from his back pocket, he read through it in more detail. He could have slapped himself on the forehead for making presumptions, Reisha had said to make sure he had every detail down but he had been so tired after hunting down and restraining not only a dragon but some idiots who thought the dragons body parts would be make excellent sales on the dark market. The card had simply said magical creatures and he had of course assumed that it was magical creatures to do with his department, looking at the card now and in the bright light of day with a little more sleep under his belt - it most likely and probably did mean any magical creature at all, which would mean he would be sharing a table with just about anyone really. He found a board that had a lay-out of the stands and ran his finger through it until he found the one he was looking for and headed in that direction. There was already a man standing there and Leon gave a lopsided grin as he moved to stand behind the table also. "Hi there, I'm Leon ... Beast division at the ministry" he said as way of an introduction extending his hand for the man to shake before then unloading the books, pamphlets, application forms, photographs and moving dragon miniatures upon the table. |

[ Social worker at ST Mungo ]

This was way out of Paige her league. Paige loved being around children, but seeing all these people here with big jobs she got kind of scared. The one more dangerous than the other. Paige was glad she shared a table with a healer from St Mungo. At least she had worked with this person and knew what he was about. Paige had enough the deal with at Hogwarts, so her grades had suffered the last couple of years. She became a social worker at St Mungo and loved every day of it. With this day event her goal was to let the kids know that even with lesser grades you could do something with your life. The person who made the tables look all fancy definitely deserved a medal. They looked like a lot of work had gone in them and Paige was ready for the kids to come. |

Though he had not been working in the Ministry of Magic for at long - or at least, New Zealand's branch of the magical government, Konstantin was more than experienced in his field and immediately jumped at the chance to educate and encourage the youth of today with the introduction of a Career's Fair. It was the perfect event for young witches and wizards, both who had ambitions for particular jobs, and those who were still uncertain as to what career they wanted to pursue, to come and talk to people experienced in various occupations. It was an opportunity the Russian wished he had growing up as a child, it had taken him some time to figure out exactly what he wanted to do with his life, even after he had graduated. He knew how daunting it could be for some people trying to figure out what to do with their lives, and though he had found his passion eventually, he would have liked to have been more educated on the subject of careers much sooner. Standing at the table he'd been assigned, Ivanoff politely inclined his head to the few faces he recognised from within the Ministry, before clasping his hands behind his back and waiting for the young witches and wizards to start trickling into the fair, while trying not to look too intimidating. |

He had been busy setting up his side of the stand when an older man approached him, presumably the other person who was here to talk about magical creatures. ''Hello,'' the former Prefect said while shaking the man's hand. ''I'm Marcel, Magizoologist.'' He had never met someone from the Beast Divison before so had tonnes of questions he wanted to ask Leon once he had introduced himself to him. ''So,'' Marxel began, ''Beast Divison, eh? What is that like?'' he asked, thinking he'd start with a simple question. |

When Tristan heard about the career fair, he knew he had to go. He was starting his third year at Hogwarts after the break and that meant picking electives and what classes to drop. He didn't really know exactly what he wanted to do yet but he had figured out he wanted to work at the ministry. It seemed so... official, and important. He wanted to be seen that way too, and he wanted to make a change in the world. He wasn't entirely sure what he wanted to do at the ministry yet, but there would be time to figure that out. The career fair was definitely a good time to get started with that, so he had arranged with his parents that his shopping trip for school supplies was on the same day as the fair. It wasn't hard to find, as there was a huge banner with a table underneath it. Tristan looked around, he knew the Deputy Minister was the one organizing it and part of him really wanted to talk to him, but he didn't feel like he could just walk up to him right away. He passed the table with healers without much interest, as he already knew that wasn't his kind of work. The beast division wasn't it either, though it was closer by being part of the ministry. He finally stopped in front of a table with a single man behind it. 'Experimental Charms Committee', that sounded interesting, Charms was Tristan's favorite subject. He looked up at the man. "Uh, hi." He said, feeling very young suddenly. "I don't know much about wizarding jobs, but I know I want to work at the ministry. This is a ministry job, right?" He paused, thinking of a good question. "What does someone on the experimental charms committee do, exactly? |

Rowan came just about the same time students were arriving. A tiny bit late from her fellow career employers, who were already at their post set up and ready to go. Rowan cursed, rushing towards the spot reserved for her department. Not like she would bait many students at her table if she had come early. What she did, many would never consider doing. But that was the point of well, being here? To enlight them and persuade their little minds into doing so. Rowan wanted to change the very negative perspective they may have already in her job. She herself, thought it was very rewarding. And could be dangerous too. But they will never know if they're never well inform. Rowan setup, even went as far as getting a fireplace magically charm by her booth. She had a big cardboard background on display, and pamphlets with about information of each means of wizarding transportation. She stood in front of the fireplace, handing out information from her table. "In case you want something to read? Here yar go! My name's Rowan, nice to meet cha!" |

Leon glanced around noting how the others at the stands looked downright respectable and he looked his usual insubordinate self, he had chosen to wear his work clothes, his field work clothes - even his thick dragon skin gloves were still tucked in his belt, he had showered at least so didn't smell of dragon dung or anything else, he hoped. Marvel had told him he was a magizoologist and Leon nodded his head contemplating the notion of becoming one for all of five seconds, but as much as he could have gone that way - this is what he loved doing, the danger was what lured him in each and every time. "It's alright, guess it depends on which department in the BD you're in, some are all red tape others are up to your neck in all sorts" he was being vague but he hoped Marcel wouldn't mind, especially as they would probably be repeating themselves all day long when people started showing up. He looked to the entrance and saw that a few already had and shoved his hands into his pockets. "So Magizoologist ... are you going to open a magic zoo here in New Zealand?" he asked the man, hoping the answer was a resounding yes because that would be an amazing place for magical creature trainees to begin. Marcel nodded when Leon began telling him what is was like working for the Beast Division even though he didn't quite understand what he told him but didn't ask about it any further. He had thought about working there before coming to the decision to become a Magizoologist but had eventually decided not to do so because he wanted to work with a wider range of magical creatures. Marcel frowned at Leon's question and shook his head. ''God no, I just started and am still very new to some of it. Besides, I would need to collect creatures which wouldn't be ideal at this stage since I'm still doing research on a lot of them.'' he told the older man truthfully, although the idea of owning his own zoo full of magical creatures did sound like an interesting thing to have at some point during his career. |

Camila knew from her big sister that soon she would have to choose her electives and which direction she would want to go in career-wise but she felt wildly unprepared for that so she was glad to hear that there was a career fair for students like her. She wanted to be pragmatic about her choices and do what she was good at but that only was possible if she knew what options were available and as a muggleborn she knew so little of the opportunities. The girl walked into the fair feeling nervous that she was alone but she walked through the stands until she saw one for St. Mungo's. She knew very little about them except that they had tried to help her sister after the attack but she could never imagine herself as a Doctor. Still she said "Hello" to the man and woman standing there. "So... you're both doctors?" she asked, knowing the term was different for wizards but not caring too terribly about the difference. @Tybalt & Paige. |

It had been slow going getting out of the house today, but eventually they had arrived to Obsidian Harbour. The teenagers were lagging behind their parents, noticeably trying to separate themselves though there would have been no staying home today. It was a Ministry sponsored event and the Kingsleys needed to show up to show their support for the event, though all of the adults had agreed on the importance of the teenagers attending whether they wanted to or not. Cyndi Kingsley was keeping a closer eye than usual on her oldest son during this break, making sure he was keeping focused and not putting too much attention towards his girlfriend. He had his future to worry about, after all. Chatting quietly with Kiera and her husband about something that had been in the paper the night before, Cyndi paused only long enough to shout for Eleanor to slow down. Eleanor had rushed ahead, as she usually did, and was on the verge of getting lost in the crowd. Jacob rushed ahead and grabbed his sister by the hand, patiently leading her back to the group. godmod with permission |
