This lesson was going to be a little more advanced than previously. As Summers entered the room, his nodded at the students already present before taking his own seat, waiting for the stragglers to file inside before closing the door. "Who remembers covering the lesson in which transfiguration was discussed as a punishment used to turn offending wizards into statues?" It came with no surprise that most of the class raised their hands. "We are going to perform something quite similar to this today." Professor Summers remarked, to some shocked faces of the students. He bent down, pulling up a spacious cage containing a handful of chipmunks running around on a leafy habitat inside. "There is one difference. These animals will not be left as a statue for a length of time. As soon as I have graded your work, I will transfigure them back. This process will not harm the chipmunks, physically or otherwise. These are the same animals we use year after year for this practice. They are well fed and cared for here within the school, many of them actually having lived longer than if they were in the wild." He explained to them, knowing some students might feel the need to protest animal cruelty or some other such bull excuse. The chipmunks were raised for the purpose of Transfiguration classes, being subjected to magic didn't much faze them. He quickly began to pass the small creatures out, without it being necessary to use an impeding spell on them as professors had before. His chipmunks were quite docile, and used to a magical learning environment. They were bred for student experience - he couldn't have students chasing them around all lesson, possibly harming the animal or themselves, so they'd been well trained. "Be careful and treat them with care. We don't want either of you harmed." "The wand moment is the same we did last week," said Aeon as he wandered around the room. "Visualize your chipmunk turning into a statue of any material, the easiest and most common being wood or stone, then cast the spell. Metals are a little more difficult to do. The incantation is 'Statua'. Have fun and if you have any problems, I will be around to help you out." He wandered back to his desk at the front, tapping the remaining chipmunk with the tip of his wand. It lost its brown colour, instead shifting into a statue of white marble. He didn't linger on that too long, though, taking the professor at his word when he said the animals weren't harmed. He just wanted to try the spell himself, and he wonedered if it only worked on animals or would work on humans as well. Not that he would try it. He got an animal and was surprised by how calm it was. If he were a chipmunk about to be turned into a statue, he was sure he would be making a run for it. But the animal just sat peacefully on his desk. Tristan remembered the wand movement from last week and tried it out. "Statua."He said and he watched his chipmunk turn into a statue of a light wood, just has he had pictured it. He took it to the professor, wondering how much practice it would take to get to do metal instead. |

Jerara had enjoyed the second round of duelling a lot less than the first one, but he had still taken part in it and tried his best to enjoy it. It had proved to him that he definitely needed to do more when actually doing practical magic, his theory was fine perhaps even a little advanced but his practical magic, but he couldn’t do it as well. The boy was keen to therefore improve it, but it meant he had to do a lot more work than he had been doing before, sticking to what he already knew and trying his best to just improve the practical magic. The ravenclaw was going to be trying his best to do that, but he knew it would take more than just the classes, he would need to start practicing his magic as much as he did the theory. This would however start with focusing on the classes a little more. He was getting ready for the day, he was putting the necessary books into his bag and grabbing his wand, then he when he was sure he was set for the day he then set off for the classroom. He was absolutely ready for this day. After such a fun lesson of transfiguration the boy walked into said classroom with an eagerness. He wanted to cast more magic, he wanted to do the spell again. The ravenclaw wanted to do well in the class, and knew this meant he had to pay close attention. He looked to the man at the front of the room, as he waited for the rest of the class to turn up so they could get started. Jerara nodded when the man asked if they remembered, he would be surprised if people in this class didn't it had only been a few weeks before. The fact they would be doing something similar was exciting to the boy. He listened to the man's instructions carefully before taking the chipmunk from him, not caring about the safety of the animal, he just wanted to try it. He listened to what the spell's incantation was and the moment he could get started, pointed his wand at the creature. He took a moment to think about the animal transforming into stone and smiled a little to himself before focusing hard upon the task at hand. He tapped the creature three times and said, "Statua," watching as the creature became somewhat stone before the spell stopped work and the animal was returned to normal. He tried several more times before he actually managed the spell, but he was very happy with his success. |

Signy had had a pretty good experience handing out the roses, the last one had been less than great, given how the girl had acted but she couldn’t exactly judge any of it, she didn’t know what was written in the note or the intent that had been meant by the note, so she couldn’t say anything about it. Te hufflepuff was pleased to have taken part and vowed that she would do it every year following this. She wanted to give out the most amount of roses ever! But, for now, now that that excitement was all over she had to focus on the studies she had. Of course the roses hadn’t taken away from her studies but they had been a slightly distraction which had lasted over several days as she thought about how she would do them but also the aftermath. This meant that for Signy she had felt pretty behind over the last few days, but she was sure that with a little more work during this week she could catch up in no time. The hufflepuff focused on getting ready, gathering up her books and notes for the day ahead and then getting herself ready. Once she was ready the blonde left the dorm and headed straight for the classroom. The blonde was sure that this lesson like the last was going to be involving transfiguring a creature into an inanimate object. Given that this was the entire basis of the class this semester she was sure they would be doing that. She raised her hand at the question and wondered what that had to do with what they were doing. Although it became very clear, when he said so, they would be making temporary statues out of living things. The thought freaked her out a little, but given that the professor was saying it didn't harm them it settled her nerves. She took the chipmunk when it was handed to her, and repeated the spell with the professor, she could get this just fine. She tapped the creature three times and said the incantation. Hardly surprised when it didn't work, her concentration and heart weren't really in it. She took a moment to just breath and remind herself that she wasn't killing it, just suspending it, and that was okay. She trusted the professor, so with a better mind she pointed her wand at the creature and did the spell over. Glad when it worked this time. Very happy that it had worked. |
