Professor Adelia took a look at the lesson plan, her eyebrow raised at the length of the lesson she'd be covering today. "I'll be covering until Professor Stark returns. Please take your seats. This week we'll be discussing electricity. Electricity is a very common part of muggle life. Most items that muggles use consume some type of electricity. Wizards aren't able to use it since it doesn't work properly in the presence of magic." She cleared her throat, scanned the notes and continued. "Electricity is a complicated matter at hand. Electricity is the flow of electrical power or charge. It's generated from conversion of another source of energy. Some ways of getting this conversion are to burn coal or natural gas." Tapping the board, writing continued to appear. "Nuclear reactions are another source of electricity along with water and batteries. Now, the basis of electricity lies in Electrons." An image of an atom appeared on the board; "This is an atom. Those little dots are electrons." Professor Adelia used her wand to make the areas she was discussing light up as necessary. "Everything in the world contains atoms. There are both electrons and protons within an atom. The electrons are negatively charged and the protons are positively charged. When there are more electrons than protons within the atom, the atom has a negative charge. Electrons are able to detach from their atoms within certain materials when they outnumber the protons. These particular electrons are able to conduct electricity." Stopping for a sip of tea, Trina continued. "Materials that are able to conduct electricity include metals, where those materials that are not able to conduct electricity include wood, glass, and rubber." She tapped the board again. "Muggles harness electricity and use it to power items within their homes. I'm sure some of you used the refrigerator or television last week. The picture and cooling ability are dependent on the use of electricity. Walking between the aisles to make sure the students stayed awake, Trina spoke on. "One problem with moving back and forth from the magical world to the muggle world is that electricity doesn't work in the magical world. Electricity has, what I can only call, a bad reaction around the use of magic. As some of you may have noticed, I have been using my wand on the board today." She waved her wand a little for a slight demonstration. "In a muggle classroom, I would be using a computer and a program called powerpoint to project the images you see on the board right now. Computers don't work within the walls of the castle." Trina glanced at the next piece and widened her eyes before continuing on. "Before we end, please note that electricity can be deadly. So please be careful if you are going to use anything with electricity." Homework: RP the lesson, and take some notes.Muggle Studies,3,4 |

The use of electricity and the so called 'science' behind it had intrigued Flavio when he read ahead in his assigned textbook. He was happy to learn that his Muggle Studies lesson that day would be focused around electricity, and immediately got to note taking as the substitute professor began to highlight information on the board with her wand. He drew a diagram of an atom and labelled each of it's components, then listed different metals that conduct and resist electricity. He then noted that electricity was used to power things in Muggle homes, like the refrigerator, television and even the radio he interacted with during his previous lesson. As a wizard, Flavio found the way electricity worked to be completely fascinating, and wanted to learn more even though some of the theory perplexed him. Some things he had read about did not make sense without the use of a wand, but he figured this was only a result of him growing up around magic, and also figured that learning more about Muggles was the obvious point of the subject of Muggle studies being taught in schools. Flavio made one last note that the use of electricity could be deadly, then closed his book, looking up to the professor curiously now that he had the opportunity. It was weird to see a substitute instead of the professor that was supposed to be teaching the class. But he tried not to make his confusion obvious. Most professors changed frequently after all and he should be used to seeing a different face taking over many of his lessons. The lesson was soon dismissed, and homework assigned. Flavio made a mental note of what he was supposed to do before the next lesson as he left the room. |

Evelyn was excited for another Muggle Studies lesson. She experianced the television last week and it was pretty handy to watch fashion runway shows on that tiny screen. As the blonde walked in she wanted to greet Professor Stark but noticed another Professor she had saw before. So the blonde gave the other Professor a smile and decided to sit next to Flavio. She started to like the boy, he was nice and a good friend of Amber she knew. When the lesson started the blonde made sure she paid attention to make some notes of the upcoming lecture. Electricity would be the subject and Evelyn had heard of it, because she knew the muggle used it to put their hair into model and that kinda stuff. She had a straightener at home for her hair so could give a example but she used magic for it and no electricity. It was stupid to learn about the effects of Electricity because Evelyn didn't want to be a mechanic in the future so she sighted for a moment but made sure she writed everything down in case it would be important for the exam. As Professor Adelia mentioned that they sure had used something like the television Evelyn nodded excited. Still hearing all this was interesting that muggles had things like this, magic was way easier the blonde thought. When the lesson was coming to a end, Evelyn looked at Flavio that was paying good attention just like her. She was wondering which classes he followed. The blonde herself was glad that she could drop some, because this semester was busy enough. When she had made a note of her homework for next week she grabbed all her stuff and walked out of the room next to Flavio. |
