The forest was quiet as Abel's hooves walked stealthily along the hard ground. His bow was clutched tightly in his hand, looking out for any prey. The centaur wanted to make his family proud and bring home something they could all enjoy, but the lack of finding something worth killing was beginning to become frustrating. He wandered even further out of the center of the forest, relying on his bow for if anything was to come for attack. Despite this, he was older now and so hunting required much less caution, even with his lack of experience. He had only been hunting a couple of times before, mostly to his father's discretion, but Abel didn't care. Hunting gave him a sense of freedom that he couldn't quite explain and he was not going to finish until he found something.

The rustling of bushes made the centaur alert. He lowered himself behind a large rock, his bow ready for shooting if need be. After a moment of nothing he realised it could have been the wind and slowly stood back up, continuing on his journey. The centaur made even more of an effort to walk quieter, trying not to scare any potential victims away. His father definitely would have already killed a whole pack of animals by now, but Abel was not giving up and continued to walk further away from the heart of the forest.

Son of Diagoras and Dover + Brother of Abel + Mischievous

"Ick!"

Cain, the hapless centaur, had his front legs stuck in some kind of bog. It wasn't a particularly good look, especially with the other creatures of the forest bounding past leisurely, all seemingly aware of its presence. The young centaur snorted with frustration, rearing backwards in an attempt to shift his balance and break free of its hold. This was not here last time! he insisted internally, already updating his map of the forest, though it was much too late. He should have accounted for the rains they had been having, but upon hearing about some late-blooming plants he just had to rush off in search of them.

Calling for assistance was a possibility - Abel would certainly be nearby - but Cain had his pride to contend with, and with one last pull, he managed to rear upwards... and straight on his backside, with the mud splattering his upper body. He galloped to more stable ground quickly, walking off the slight pain in his forelegs and allowing them to stretch. He smelt like earth, but was otherwise undamaged (and the earth smelt lovely, anyway), and so decided to circle back to see if he could find his brother, and convince him to come to the lake to get all of this off. It wasn't the only source of water, but it was definitely a source he wasn't invested in keeping mud-free, and had slightly more friendly inhabitants.

He found Abel before his brother found him, assisted by the fact that he smelt of 'generic forest', and was travelling uphill with the wind. The centaur wasn't exactly a shining example of his herd, but he had enough skills to play with his kin. Abel looked very busy - he definitely needed to be interrupted. Cain shook a bush here, and snapped a twig there, coaxing his brother along from the heart of the forest towards the stone structure that the students of the school resided in (though he wasn't sure how - it looked terribly boring). When his brother was exactly where he wanted him, Cain erupted out of the greenery to surprise his brother - not even considering the fact he held a bow and arrow.

"Boo!"

It was never often when Camelia Kyle would have ventured off into something forbidden, but there she was. The Gryffindor was chasing a rabbit through the forest. It was just so fluffy and pretty, she wanted to pet it. Plus, she wanted to have it for a pet. Camelia continued to chase after it, cooing and trying to get it to slow down. She didn't know any spells to slow it down otherwise she would have done so. Camelia sighed as she started to lose it through the dense trees. The Samoan girl was definitely not going to let some rabbit beat her! Camelia stopped running when she saw it stop, before she slowly crept on the fluffy animal. She cried out, "Gotcha!" She lept out toward it, before it dove into a hole, leaving Camelia to plow her face right into the dirt. Camelia poked her head up and puffed. Leaves and twigs were now tangled in her hair. And she lost the bunny too. Such a day this was. Camelia felt that she could have used it to make Octavian happier since Halloween. Camelia had a fun time, and felt bad that he did not. Petting bunnies always brought smiles but now she was bunny-less. Camelia looked around to see if she ventured too far, which she felt she might have. Oops.

Abel felt like he was getting closer. He kept his eyes and ears open for any disturbance as he continued to walk along, trying his best not to make too much sound with his hooves. He thought he had really caught something when a large figure jumped out right in front of him, making him jump. Instantly, the centaur let go of his arrow which had missed the figure and hit a tree behind it instead. But it wasn't just a figure and was instead Cain. "Brother!" he exclaimed, frustrated that he had made him lose focus. "What is it you're doing here? There's no need to frighten me. I could've killed you!" Abel gave his brother a dirty look before walking past him to retrieve his arrow, pulling it out of the tree. But when he heard another disturbance, his eyes widened, looking out to see what had made the noise. He crouched down low again and when he saw the human, he kept his eyes on her as she chased a rabbit: the perfect target. Abel put the arrow back into the bow and pulled it back, following the two of them as they ran. But the rabbit had soon escaped, jumping into a rabbit hole. Cursing, Abel, put his bow down. "Did you see that?" he whispered quietly to Cain. "But don't go over there! You never know where the human has been." Abel knew Cain was probably not going to listen to his words, but it was worth a try.
