Lesson Missed: Lesson 2

Lesson 2
The upcoming quidditch game was primarily on the girl’s mind, she was thinking about pushing her plans to be a professor a little and do a little with the quidditch, it just made sense in her head to do that. Lydia smiled to herself as she got ready for the day, the daily practices she had, took up most of her getting ready time, so she tended to rush things now. The NEWTs in their first week hadn’t proved too hard but she was fairly certain that they would become more difficult as time went on, the last year hadn’t been too tricky but she had had studied a lot which had made it easier for her. This semester too she intended to study, she would study hard, but the teen also very much intended to pursue quidditch. The teen finished getting ready, putting her hair up in a ponytail, pinning the prefect badge to her chest, just making sure she had everything to face the day and then left the dorm for the class, she was rather happy that she and Felix were sharing a good number of classes, it felt good for things to be better than they had before.

Lydia arrived at the room and took her seat within it, there was a lot of thing that needed to be covered during this year in classes as well as the revision they should do, so she was just eager to get started on whatever the Defence against the dark arts professor said. The teen was taking out her books and getting ready for the class. She smiled to herself as the man got started, still so pleased that it was this man, not the other horrible one, this was so much easier she found. Lydia took notes about what lethifolds were, writing down exactly what the professor was saying, it was not a creature she would desire to get involved with, but it was certainly something interesting. she didn't know the answer to his question but noted it down when someone else got it. The lesson moved on to the second creature, the Dementors, and that too was not a creature that she ever wanted to run into. The prefect couldn't help but imagine the unhappiness it would cause. She was surprised when they would be doing the spell in charms rather than Defence against the dark arts, but given that it was called the patronus charm, that was perhaps the given. With that the lessons seemed to be over and the teen packed away her things and left the room.

Lesson Missed: 5

Reuben was growing ever more concerned for his brother; it wasn't at all like Rudolf to be so grumpy all the time. In fact, it was usually difficult to stop him from being cheerful and obnoxious. The Hufflepuff was beginning to wonder whether or not he might be the cause of Rudolf's bad mood, though he couldn't really understand why. Sure, he spent a bit of time with Matthew, but he still hung out with Rudolf, like, all the time. Pushing it to the back of his mind, Reuben took his seat in the Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom and listened intently to the professor, bringing his mind back to the lesson subject whenever it drifted away. He took a few notes, feeling confident that he could remember this spell, and then packed up to leave.

Sianna Djordjevic

Name: Sianna Djordjevic
House: Ravenclaw
Year: 4th
Lesson Missed: 1-3

The recent headache with Lennon aside the ravenclaw was feeling pretty good about what she was facing in this semester. She had done well in the last one, and knew she could do just as well if not better in this one too. Though there was little way to go up from where she was. Sianna did have more on her plate during this semester, though most of the large school events were done there were still a few left and then there was the oh so simple method of picking the pictures to use, and it took a while, Sianna took a lot of pictures, she knew it was better to have too many than too few. The teen was getting ready for the day, she had finished her own little schedule, and she was trying her best to find a place for all of the things she had to do. It was working out just fine, a few things needed moved around but that was about it. Everything else was fine. She was getting ready for the day, brushing her hair carefully, putting it up in a ponytail and then gathering the right books for the lessons that she had that day.

Sianna walked into the defence against the dark arts and took her seat in the room. She had been rather eager to get started on what they would be doing during this semester in that class, since it had been rumoured to be pretty interesting. She took out her books and her notes and looked up to the professor waiting for the professor to begin, which he did as promptly as the man always. The teen was very keen with what the professor said they would be covering unforgivable curses, this was definitely interesting. She was very keen to learn about this. These spells were not ones she would ever get to do, but it would be fun to watch and learn about. The girl raised her hand at every opportunity to give an answer but unfortunately she wasn't picked to answer once. She sighed heavily when she had to lower her hand, but was still very keen on what they would be learning over the passing semester. It would certainly be a good semester. Though Sianna was very keen to learn about the spells, the girl very seriously considered being the guinea pig for the imperius curse but in the end decided that it would be a mistake. With that the teen gathered up her thing and left the room.

Lesson 2
Sianna had more and more work as the weeks went on, knowing that soon at the end of this week she would have to go to the valentines ball without a date and without really anything but her work for accio being the driving force for why she was there. The girl didn’t really want to go, she really didn’t, but it was her job. It was her job to be there. To do it. She was getting ready for the day, taking it slowly, taking the time to slowly brush her hair. Applying to a fine amount of make up and think about her life choices so far. She had sent a rose to Lennon, and she wasn’t sure if she should’ve, but the last show at the yuleball had been enough for her to know she would rather have his friendship than pursue anything romantically with him. She wanted him to know that, she wanted that to be as clear as she could make it and a rose of friendship was how she knew to do it. The girl took her time getting ready, but eventually she was at the very least dressed and ready for the day. She put a few of her books into her bag as she made sure she had everything before leaving the dorm to face the day.

Sianna was exceedingly eager for the lesson, so she arrived at the defence against the dark arts class and sat down in the room, she had been early, and was sitting poised in her chair, ready to watch and see the spell happen. It took only too long for the class to get started, but the teen sat forward in her chair. Sianna looked as the professor brought up the student who was going to be the one that was going to be under the curse. The ravenclaw girl watched as the professor cast the spell and then proceed to get the now imperioed student do several push ups, do as many as they could, although after three the spell was lifted off the student. Sianna was a little disappointed by this, but it had been interesting enough, the student hadn't even questioned it, he'd just done it and that was such a powerful spell, it was no wonder they weren't allowed to do it. She looked up to the person as they then explained what it felt to be under the curse. Sianna wrote down everything she could, and felt almost a little disappointed that she couldn't experience it herself. With this done, the teen took a note of the homework and then left the room.

Lesson 3
Sianna was glad that the festivities of the previous week were finally over, the valentines day things plus the roses hadn’t been an enjoyable experience for her in the slightest, but it was over and she could begin to look forward. This wasn’t going to be the easiest thing for her to do, she wasn’t an expert at her own emotions but she could learn and she would manage within another year. The teen was keen for the year to be over, but she at least was able to keep her mind busy with all the work she had for the Accio, it was a lot and so she had to keep focused upon that. The teen was pretty content, a little frustrated but to her with a brother like she had it was rather normal. She was getting ready for the day, putting aside the work she’d been doing for the accio and began getting herself ready for the work day. She put her books into her bag and then began to get herself ready. She put on her uniform and began to brush her hair, she put her hair up and out of her way and making sure she had her wand before leaving the classroom.

Sianna was pretty eager for the remaining lessons in this defence against the dark arts class. She knew that they would get to see all of the curses, the professor seemed like the type. She walked into the classroom and quickly walked to her seat. She looked to the professor as he got started and wasn't surprised that the man told them what the curse did and how it was punishable, but that wasn't new information this was true for all the curses. She nodded as the professor showed them the curse on the spider from his desk. She couldn't help but watch it carefully, it was certainly something interesting. Dark, but then she thought it would be interesting. Sianna was sure that it was immeasurable pain on a person, but she knew that unless something terrible happened she would never have to experience it. A part of her wanted to know what it was like, but she would settle for having seen it on a spider. She didn't want to cause anyone pain and she hardly really wanted to experience it herself. The girl wrote down all the man was saying, and was glad when the lesson was brought to an end, thankfully this week without homework.

Zared Katsaros-Styx
Member Avatar
independent & distant | seventh year

Name: Zared Katsaros-Styx
House: slytherin
Year: 4th
Lesson Missed: 1-3

While his situation with Elysia was still as unexplained as ever, he felt in a definitely better position moving forward. He was fairly happy that he didn’t have much on his plate so he could spend a bit more time thinking about it. He didn’t usually want to spend his time thinking about girls but this, with her seemed as good a time as any to begin doing so. The teen was getting ready for the day, getting his books in order, organising them so they were right and focusing his attention on what they would be doing in the classes, since it was the first week he assumed that it would be very little that they wouldn’t be focusing on much besides what they would be learning in the class. He had decided once more to do the duelling tournament, certain that he had gotten better and that he would do better overall, he wasn’t going to lose to Elysia, but he knew he was never actually going to win. The teen was just happy to try his skills again. The boy cast those thoughts out of his mind and then gathered the rest of what he would need before leaving for the class.

Zared walked into the defence against the dark arts class and looked toward the professor as he began the lesson. Given how he felt towards Elysia, the slytherin was more than worried about this man might have in store for him if he ever found out. Zared always wanted to do well by Elysia, but he knew that this man would probably intently dislike him despite his pureblood status. The teen had his notes out and was listening intently to what the man was saying about what they'd be doing over this semester. It seemed a little early to be covering the unforgivables cures, they weren't even in their actual OWL year, but he was still interested in learning about them. Zared didn't think he'd ever actually use any of them, but they were a decent thing to learn. He obviously didn't raise his hand to answer any of the questions but was silently answering them in his head. Content upon realising he had gotten all of them right. The fact the following lesson would be about the imperius curse was fascinating, and of course the offer of having to suffer through it was one that interest Zared a lot, but he knew it would probably involve speaking in front of others and he didn't want to do that. Though the temptation to put himself forward for it, to impress him, maybe impress her was so strong within him. But he knew better. So, instead he just packed up his things and left the classroom.

Lesson 2
Zared was in a little bit of disbelief over how things were he couldn’t have imagined winning a duel and much less could he have imagined spending more time with Elysia in preparation for it. He liked Elysia so much, he knew it showed, he had expressed it in a rose that she would get and he hoped that she would want to spend the time with him at the valentine’s day ball, and these things all made the slytherin both so nervous and yet so excited. The boy considered this his last open attempt to see if she liked him back, but he was certainly feeling this moment of fleeting bravery in doing all of it, and if she wanted to go to the valentine’s dance together or express that she liked him a little back, then that would be the best thing to ever happen to him. The teen was getting ready for the day of school, his mind just elsewhere that it took him several attempts before his bag was packed with the right books, but in the end he was ready to go, he had gathered everything he could possibly need for the day, and was just ready to face it.

Zared walked into the defence against the dark arts classroom and as he took his usual seat with Lestat he knew he somewhat regretted not signing up for the curse. He knew it would be only happens once thing, and though he knew that speaking after would be the worst, he thought he might be able to get over it. The boy shook the thoughts from his mind as the professor in front of him got started, of course it didn't matter any more. He didn't have the opportunity to change his mind, and someone else was brought forward and the curse was placed on them. Zared, like most others, watched carefully as the person was placed under the curse, and upon being told to do push up just did it. Following the command straight away with no hesitation. Zared kept his gaze on the person under the curse as it was then taken off them and the person could once more think for themselves. He listened to their explanation of how it felt, writing a little bit of what they said down, for his own personal knowledge but also because it was to Zared pretty interesting. He looked back to the professor as the man continued, wasting no time in beginning to explain more about the spell and how to act against it, which sounded like an impossible task. He thought his mind was strong but he doubted that it would be able to fight against that sort of thing. With that however, Zared took a note of the homework and then left the room.

Lesson 3
The last week had been weirdly amazing, he couldn’t believe what had happened in it. He was trying to wrap his head around the fact that Elysia actually liked him, he wasn’t sure where they currently stood, but at the very least he knew that she liked him. It had been good for him, he was so pleased about this, it was such a good thing to him. The fact he had so much to do with classes was the last thing on the slytherin’s mind but at the very moment he had classes to worry about, he had no more duelling due to the fact he’d lost, but he was still feeling pretty happy with everything else. It was the only bad thing. The teen was getting ready for the day, with perhaps a little more enthusiasm than he would’ve had otherwise had for the classes that he had that day. The boy was gathering up the books that he had for the day, he grabbed his wand and then placed that in his bag as he moved around grabbing the other bits and pieces that he would need before putting on his uniform and heading out of the room.

The torture curse was a more peculiar curse, the controlling curse was of course awful, and the killing curse was final, but there was something particular sinister to want to cause a person harm, torturous harm. The teen walked into the room, knowing what they would be doing and just quickly taking his seat in the room. He didn't much care about the fact they were going to be watching a creature be tortured, in fact he had spent the week leading up to the class surprised that they were allowed to get away with such a thing. The teen looked up to the man at the front of the room and just began listened to what he was saying. He listened to the explanation, not bothering to take any notes about it, since it was all pretty obvious, he'd heard about it before. He'd never seen it obviously but he'd heard about it. The teen watched as the man placed the curse on a spider who seemed to very obviously in pain. The boy had in his time probably brought harm to a few creatures but it was odd to see it so visibly in front of them. To see it and in a way hear it a little too. Zared's expression however remain impassive and he just kept his gaze on the spider until the curse was lifted. Following that the professor described what happened to the people who'd been placed under the curse far too long and he couldn't help but agree that they would be very scarred. he couldn't imagine that sort of pain, he couldn't imagine it left the mind in a sound state. However with that, the homework was written on the board and Zared just took a note of it before leaving the room.

Ares Jeffreys

day dreamer | Chaser & Captain | Imaginative | trying harder | Brotherhood President

Name: Ares Jeffreys
House: hufflepuff
Year: 4th
Lesson Missed: 1-3

The hufflepuff was rather eager to just get started, his grades from the last semester had improved, which was a good thing, he was happy with it, just one A, and the rest EE’s. It wasn’t as good as it could be as others in his years were but he was pretty happy with it regardless. He was trying his best and it was paying off. He had decided to become more involved, with no clue what he wanted to do after school and poor grades he knew he needed to focus. Of course Quidditch was his best option, he knew he could at the very least start at that point, but there was so much more that he could also focus on. He had signed up for duelling which was a first for the hufflepuff and he was just trying his best to put himself truly out there in the world. The teen was happy, he wasn’t doing too badly he thought, he was managing. He had a few more classes during this semester so he was keen to get started on the studying he needed to do for them, keen to just get started on the classes in general.

Ares was always nervous before defence against the dark arts, though duelling had reminded him that he needed to be good at the class, the professor didn't make him feel comfortable at all. He walked into the room and sat down next to his brother. He looked to the man at the front of the room as he began the lesson. Ares was curious about what they would be learning over the semester, and he certainly hadn't imagined that they would be covering the unforgivable curses. it had been rumoured but he hadn't thought they actually would. He listened to what the man was saying about them, to the answers people within the class gave about them. It would be an interesting few weeks, but Ares wasn't sure how much he would enjoy it. The boy was surprised that they would be allowed to see all of the spells in action and as it turned out, the first one on one of the students within the class. That would be endlessly interesting. He took a note of the homework when the class was brought to an end and considered for a very brief moment whether or not to put his name forward. It was the briefest of moments but he decided that it wasn't idiotic to put himself forward for such treatment. With that, the boy packed up his things and left the room.

Lesson 2
The first week had gone a lot better than Ares had thought it would. There was just something that was going well about it. The duelling had been a surprising part of it, but it had been enjoyable, his partner in the first round had been an enjoyable person to compete against and he felt bad with the timing of it, because he would’ve loved to send the girl a rose, just for making the experience good for him, even if she had had no intention of ever doing that for whomever she’d been up against. The teen had a second duel coming up and he had far less hopes for it, but he was looking forward to simply being able to try it again. The boy was happy that he’d decided to try it. It had been a somewhat sudden decision in his mind but if he could fight then he had something more than quidditch going for him. This was why he was trying in classes as well as trying new experiences that would broaden his hogwarts career. With that in his mind it drove him to be motivated for the classes that he had that day. He was just finishing getting ready, when the boy realised he had to get to class.

Ares felt very nervous about this defence against the dark arts class would bring he didn't want to end up in a semester filled with classes that made him so nervous but he knew at this rate he definitely would be. The teen took his seat within the classroom and looked to the professor at the front of the room as he began the lesson. Ares watched with mixed concern and fascination as the spell was preformed on the student. He couldn't help but find it equal parts terrible and fascinating. He wanted no one to ever be control in such a fashion, for their mind to be taken over by someone else so that they could do something, or preform something for them. The boy knew it could be used perhaps for good, but at what cost. The spell was taken off the student and the professor allowed them to tell the class what it had felt like. Which to Ares had been exceedingly interesting. Though he didn't agree with it in the slightest, to have one's mind so empty was such an interesting part of magic. Ares gathered up his things and left the room, feeling even more nervous given what lesson was to come in the following week. This was what he got for wanting to do better in his classes.

Lesson 3
Ares had been practicing hard for quidditch, as he always did, but the fact that he was certain the Tristan might be watching, he wanted to be sure that he was on top form and would be able to show off a little. The hufflepuff was also feeling pretty eager to hopefully help his team to victory of the quidditch cup, that would be a good thing, he knew it, after the abysmal performance in the last year, this year to do this much better was a thing that Ares was most eager for. The teen was getting ready for the day, he had spent most of the time before classes that day studying, he couldn’t lose sight of the fact that this year he had promised himself balance and this meant he had to actually try to balance things to ensure that he did well in his classes, or well, better than he had done before. It was going well so far and he wanted to keep that up. He was putting his books into his bag and getting everything together for the coming day, ensuring that that he had all he needed to face the day and though he didn’t have practice until much later in the day he took his quidditch gear to get in an extra practice. He double checked he had everything before leaving the dorm.

Ares couldn't stop wringing his hands, he couldn't help the way as he sat down in the defence against the dark class that his leg bounced under the table. That he couldn't seem to make settle at all. Instead he just focused his attention to the professor and the class that had been making him so agitated. He had been nervous about what this class might hold and it was visible. He didn't want to see anything get tortured but this professor was likely to make that happen. The teen listened to the explanation and couldn't help but feel exceedingly happy in being reminded that those who used it went to azkaban. However, it didn't settle his nerves, instead he was left watching as the professor made a spider larger and then put it under the curse. He watched it for a moment before just staring directly at his desk. he didn't like it. Ares wanted to be sure that no one would ever have to suffer such pain. he knew he was only a quidditch player and that his grades would never be good enough for him to do anything to allow him the opportunity to help stop people like that, who would use such a curse against others, but it could always be a pipe dream he attempted to work towards. The teen sigh in relief when it ended, but still did not look up front his desk as the professor kept speaking, instead he just waited until the lesson was over. The next week, with the killing curse, Ares just didn't want to go.

Norton Gillespie

kiwi | fascinated by magic | usually excitable | Hufflepuff Beater

Name: Norton Gillespie
House: Hufflepuff
Year: 1st
Lesson Missed: 2&3

Lesson 2
The boy was always excited by what Hogwarts had to offer him. The first week back he’d spent time with Min and this week he was going to be giving out roses on his birthday! He would be spreading LOVE on his birthday! The hufflepuff was so excited by it, he couldn’t wait for it! Norton was getting ready for the day with such excitement, after all he couldn’t really believe it really, that he was at such an amazing party. He had sent his flowers to the people that he loved dearly currently at the school. It had made sense to him to do that! He knew it would be the best thing to do, and he couldn’t wait, he really could not WAIT until he was able to spread the love to all the people in the wizarding school. Norton was getting ready for the day and he was so ready for whatever this day might bring him. He really couldn’t. The boy was putting the books he would need in his bag, he was making sure he had his wand, doing a little dance around the room with it. With his bag all packed, and him ready to leave he gathered up his things and left for the class.

Norton didn't like the defence against the dark arts professor. His answer to Norton's question had been silly, how could someone not have a favourite spell! He didn't trust a person who didn't have a favourite spell. He was however interested in the class itself, so arrived at the room and took his seat within it. He did not envy his sister in having to deal with this man. Surely it was a horrible thing, of which nothing good came. His head of house was lovely. He listened as the man introduced what they would be doing, a little deeper into the dark arts certainly seemed like a good idea. The punishment for it from the ministry, and clearly the picture of the man on the board was one of these people who'd used the spell. The second picture was fairly startling, that was what dark magic did to a person! He couldn't imagine why anyone would want to do anything if this was what it was going look like. it seemed silly to want that at all. He shifted his gaze back to the professor and looked with ease at the man. The man in the picture had tried to purge the wizarding world of people like him? Why? What had he ever done? what had people like him ever done. Norton didn't like this class. He didn't like the dark arts, and though this was defence against it, it seemed very focused in this lecture upon the dark arts. He packed away his things with less excitement than usual and left the room without a word.

Lesson 3
There was just an unending joy which seemed glued to Norton’s face, he was just overjoyed by all that he’d gotten to do over the last few days. It had been such an incredible experience, getting to hand out the roses had been amazing, but receiving them had been INCREDIBLE! He couldn’t get over how amazing it had felt to hand out the roses to people who were due to get them, but the fact that people had wanted to give him roses was even more incredible to him. He had loved the rose from April, from Jessica, from Min, it had been such a great experience. The boy was smiling to himself at the mere thought of it, and then he had gotten to spend time with both April and Min at the valentine’s day ball, it had been incredible to him. He was so happy about it. There was nothing in this week or for at least the next month that could bring him down. Norton was therefore getting ready for the day, he was practically bouncing off the walls as he got himself ready, leaving the room when he had everything together and rushing to the classroom to just really enjoy the day.

Norton was far more hopeful that this would a lecture he'd enjoy. He had told himself he would enjoy it. That regardless of what was said in it, it was a good class, a necessary class for him to be in. He sat himself down in the room and looked towards the man at the front. He definitely didn't like that they would be looking at some of the curses that were used in the dark arts. Why did he need to know them? He didn't want to use them. However, as Min's friend answered he realise he didn't know what they were or what they did. He was hopeful that the man might explain it, well the last one didn't need explaining. He looked to the man as he continued, not actually going into the other two, but setting as homework. Norton respected the aurors, clearly some form of magical police or security service, for what they were obviously doing to protect people, but he knew he'd never have the stomach for it. The lesson was brought to an end and he packed up his things and left the room, he definitely didn't like defence against the dark arts.

Slytherin Grad [2045] | Blunt | Lonely | Mortician | Struggling Artist

Name: Darcy Pratt
House: Slytherin
Year: 6th
Lesson Missed: 1-3

Lesson 1

Darcy was glad to have made an EE in her O.W.L. for Defense Against the Dark Arts even though the test had proved to be very hard. She knew her classes would only get harder in the next two years so she was worried about being able to keep up with them, but she didn't want to drop this class. As she walked into the Advanced Defense class and took a seat, Professor Styx confirmed her thoughts that this would not be easy. She had initially been excited to begin learning how to use non-verbal spells, but hearing Professor Styx lecture only discouraged her. Darcy frowned slightly, she hated feeling that way, especially because she felt her skills were superior so she shouldn't be doubting herself. She didn't like that he'd made her feel that way, and wanted to prove him wrong. She was the type to practice until she aced something so she would make sure to do well in this class. She had managed to talk the Potions professor into letting her take the sixth year class despite not meeting the OWL requirement, but she didn't think she could convince Professor Styx to give her another chance if she failed this class right before NEWT year. Once the class was dismissed, Darcy gathered her things and left to go study immediately so she could get started on this class.

Lesson 2

Darcy walked into class with renewed determination after feeling slightly discouraged from the last lesson, even though they had not even practiced anything. She hoped that reading all about non-verbal magic would help her be prepared for whatever they would be learning today, but was slightly disappointed to hear they wouldn't be practicing non-verbal spells yet. In some ways though she was glad for it because she could at least get better at other types of defensive spells before trying to perform them non-verbally. She listened to Professor Styx lecture on the stronger method of the Protego charm and was glad such a thing existed, even if the thought of needing it was terrifying. She sighed reluctantly when he told them all to pair up but pushed her chair back to stand up. Darcy looked around for someone to pair up with and found someone who didn't have a partner yet so she partnered up with them.

She wondered how they were supposed to practice with someone else if they didn't know any Dark spells to cast at each other to see if the shield worked. But then it became clear that they were only supposed to practice casting the shield at all. She didn't really see the point in partners if they were not throwing spells at each other and only practicing the shield,. But after a few tries of finally getting the shield cast properly, she asked her partner to cast a hex in her direction, just to see if her shield worked well. Thankfully she was able to deflect the spell harmlessly, but it did little to comfort her if the spell being cast her way wasn't actually a Dark spell. There would be no knowing if she really did perfect the spell or not until she was face to face with it, and she didn't like the chances of that. She hoped to avoid that if she could help it. Once class was over, Darcy packed up her things and left, still wondering if she had really perfected the spell or not.

Lesson 3

After not being sure whether or not she had truly mastered the protective charm last week, Darcy was curious as to whether they would be practicing it again, this time with Dark spells being cast at them. Given how demented Professor Styx looked, Darcy didn't rule it out, so she had practiced the spell, just in case. As she walked in, she took a seat at her desk and waited to see what they'd be doing that day. She pulled out her wand as instructed and stood up, bracing herself for having to perform the shield against the professor's advanced Dark spells. But then, when her Head of House cleared the desks and began to lecture them on the spell they'd be learning today, Darcy let out a small sigh of relief. She felt silly now thinking that the professor would actually practice Dark spells on them just to test out their capabilities in performing the shield charm, she knew the school would never allow that.

Instead, Darcy focused on the new spell that he told them about and took quick notes before they were allowed to practice. Darcy liked this spell because it wasn't only protecting her against Dark spells and could be used to keep others safe if she needed it. The Slytherin practiced the spell on her own for a bit, struggling to produce a shield around her. At first nothing happened, but after a while, Darcy could see a small, weak bubble surrounding her. She noted that it was smaller than a few others' bubbles when she looked around the room, but she was glad to have produced anything at all. Darcy tried once more and saw hers a little brighter this time, though the size didn't change. She wasn't too worried about that for now. Then Darcy decided to test out the strength of her protective bubble, and tapped someone on the shoulder. She asked them to cast a spell at her so she could block it and they agreed. When she cast her shield charm, it had managed to block the incoming hex, but it immediately flickered and went away straight afterward. That meant it wasn't very strong to withhold more than one spell. She wanted to give it one more go but before she had a chance, the class was over and Professor Styx was dismissing them. She was only slightly proud of the progress she had made and hoped to improve on it before her exams came up.

Name: Viktor Styx
House: Ravenclaw
Year: 1
Lesson Missed: 1-3

Lesson one:
Viktor Styx was not the best student out there. With his tie and uniform a little less than tidy, but his hair brushed, teeth clean and face washed, Viktor made his way to his class. Things were going to be good. He wanted to learn as much as he could without really worrying about grades. His father did not care about grades as much as he cared about upholding the family tradition. Viktor wanted to be a model student because he was the youngest. Viktor looked ahead while he walked, making sure to avoid people, but looking at them as he walked. He judged and read those that he thought would be interesting, before deeming them not. Was there no one here that he could actually try to get along with? Someone that might be worth him actually speaking to? Viktor doubted it sincerely.

The first year Ravenclaw took out his parchment, ink and a quill, so that he could take some notes. Apparently they were going to be going over the rules. The rules would probably be rather basic, and that was what Viktor was expecting anyhow. He started to copy them down and he wondered who would be stupid enough to disobey any of these rules. A question was asked, and Viktor looked over in the direction that the student answered. Once that answered, Viktor heard that there was homework tonight, and there was no excuse to not do it. He looked up at the board and could see just how easy it was indeed. He packed his things, and he left the classroom after he completed it and turned it in.
Lesson two:
The second week was already here, and Viktor could feel the studies upon him, as he headed toward the classroom. Not that the material was hard, he just found it boring. First year was boring. Once he got older, he imagined that things would be much better. Viktor sighed as he entered the classroom, his mind wondering to things that could not be mentioned aloud. He was on his way to settle into his seat until they were told to do something else, and got ready for the class ahead. Viktor kept his dark eyes ahead, without much of an emotion on his face. This was a little on the down side. School was okay, but other people just annoyed him. There were very few that he could tolerate. The only one that he remained inside of his mind since coming here would be that girl. That one girl. Maybe that Isaac boy would be okay, but time would tell.

Once all of the students had arrived, Viktor looked up to see that the lesson was soon to begin. He could not wait to be honest. He wanted to take care of things, and to get done with the class soon enough. There was not even a greeting, but instead, Professor Styx said that the Dark Arts are not to be meddled with. He knew about Azkaban, and the Dementors involved. Punishment for the Dark Arts was a one way ticket there. Something he never wanted to go through, or at least, get caught with. However the signs of using the Dark Arts were inevitable, and this was brought to his attention. There was a picture of a Slytherin that was a mass murderer, and he knew who he was. Lord Voldemort. Both pictures were somewhat interesting to look at. Not that he cared about some dead guy. The class soon ended, and there was an essay due. They were soon dismissed. Viktor packed up his things and he left the classroom.
Lesson three:
It was the third week into the classes, and Viktor was wondering if he was wasting his time here in the school. Nothing was interesting him so far. No one was really worth his time. He needed to find someone that could take up his boredom. Eventually, he would find that someone. He was only eleven. There would be plenty of time for someone to catch his darkest eye. Viktor walked into the classroom before settling down, curious as to what they were going to do today. Viktor was not looking forward to using magic right now. That would involve talking. He wondered if he could mumble and get the spells working correctly anyway. It was a thought anyway. Viktor would have to try it out on his own at some point. And he would when he could. Just right now, it was time for class.

There was just so much that he could think of when it came to the Dark Arts. He was bothered that they were teaching how to be defensive against them. He thought that the Dark Arts were something to almost worship. Professor Styx started to speak, and they were told that Death Eaters and Aurors both used the Unforgivable Curses. The Aurors were no different than the Death Eaters. The Unforgivables were an interesting topic, and that did actually spark his interest which was rather rare. He would have to look it up more because he did not know everything there was to know about the subject. They were given homework, and then they were dismissed early. He packed his things and soon enough, he got out of his chair. He left the classroom without wanting to linger around longer than necessary.

Lesson 2

Marisol walked into Defense Against the Darks Arts class and sat beside her two best friends. She wanted to pass notes to them because she wanted to talk to them, but she had gotten caught passing notes in Professor Styx's class before so she didn't want to risk it again. As she took out her parchment, ink, and quill to take notes she suddenly remembered what they were supposed to be learning today and hated that she felt intrigued about it. This was an Unforgivable Curse, she hated that Professor Styx was able to perform it on a student, even with a consent form. She had promptly thrown that form away when he'd given it to them last lesson. She watched as a student walked up to be the test dummy and shook her head in disbelief. No amount of extra credit was worth letting Professor Styx, of all professors, have complete control over her mind. She watched as the professor performed the curse on the student and they began to do everything the professor wanted them to do. Marisol felt uneasy about it, even if it seemed funny at first. To what extent could this curse go? She realized the answer as soon as she remembered it was an Unforgivable curse. She continued to watch and listened as the student described what it felt like to be under that spell. She took notes on what they said because there was no way she was going to be under that spell soon - or if she was unknowingly at least maybe she'd recognize the signs. Afterward, Marisol made a note of the homework they were assigned and then class was dismissed. She sighed as she packed up her things, the only thing she'd have to look forward to was her homework but at least she'd get it over with quickly.

The Imperius Curse is one of the three Unforgivable Curses that are not allowed to be used by wizards at all, no matter what. This spell is considered dangerous because it allows the caster to take complete control of their target and that means they can get them to do anything, even the most reckless and dangerous things. They can do their bidding for them or even make them harm themselves, it takes away someone's agency. However, it is not 100% foolproof. Sometimes the person can fight off the spell and stop doing what the caster wants them to do, but it takes a tremendous amount of willpower and strength to do so. When a person is under the Imperius curse, they feel completely blissful, as if they are in a dreamlike state. I think this is so they feel at peace in their mind and they don't question why they're being told to do certain actions.

Lesson 3

Marisol walked into Defense Against the Dark Arts class and took a seat beside Wyatt, wondering what they'd be doing today. She half expected Professor Styx to perform another Unforgivable Curse on a student because he seemed like the time of tortured man who liked that. The fourth year took out her parchment, ink, and quill to take notes with and was relieved to see that the professor wouldn't be using another student as a test dummy. Instead he'd be using a spider, which didn't make her feel any better because she would rather not have to see the curse be performed at all, but she understood why they needed to see it. At least it was a spider and not something cuter, like a bunny. She winced as she saw it writhing in pain and wondered what it would be like, but was glad she would never know, or at least hoped so anyway. Before class she had read about the Cruciatus Curse and wondered how long the victim had to be tortured before being rendered permanently damaged, and figured it varied with each person's strength. She didn't think she'd last as long as the spider did, and even the insect seemed able to scurry back normally, although frightened. She didn't think she as strong enough to be able to withstand something like that even for a second. Once class was dismissed, Marisol packed her things up, deep in thought about how weak she felt. Maybe it was just because of the timing that she had doubts about herself. She intended to do the essay, but the full moon was coming up so she never got around to it.

Lesson One
Geo was somewhat nervous to be headed towards her first Defence Against the Dark Arts, especially after hearing few strange rumours about the Professor. That changed however, the moment she sat down in the classroom and her eyes fell upon the man. He was astonishing, and unlike any other Professor she'd ever seen. He seem to exude power and knowledge with every word he spoke, and Geo was instantly transfixed to his voice. Taking notes as requested, she considered what question she wanted to ask. She wanted to know more about this Professor than of what he taught.

What made you choose such a dark and mysterious subject?

Putting away her things, she followed Elly out the classroom, curious to know whether she felt the same thrill as she had. She was suddenly looking forward to these classes so much more.

Lesson Two
Eager to be in the presence of her second favourite Professor, Geo joyfully made her way back down to her next Defence Against the Dark Arts lesson. It wasn't long before she was sat, head in hand, dreamily staring at the man. Apparently, according to her friends, Geo was absurd to find such a person as attractive as she did, but nevertheless she couldn't help herself, barely even noticing when a picture of Lord Voldemort appeared on the chalkboard. She sighed quietly to herself, well aware that if anyone saw her they would instantly know what she was thinking. By the time the lesson had finished, it had been way, way too fast. She packed up her things very slowly, hoping that she would able to spend some more time with the Professor until she had to depart, however with the Hufflepuff Quidditch game that afternoon, Geo wanted to make sure she was ready in the stands before it began. With a little wave to Professor Styx, she headed out the door.

Lesson Three
It seemed that every lesson they had in DADA they were talking about unforgivable curses, but to the first year Hufflepuff, the only unforgivable curse she cared about what that Professor Styx had not as of yet given her any special one to one tuition. This lesson was alas no different. After taking down the usual notes, he also wanted them to complete an essay. "I thought we'd be at least doing more practical work in these lessons" she mumbled to her Ravenclaw friend beside her. Given that it was her twelfth birthday this week, she really wasn't in the mood for homework. Pushing her glasses further up her nose, she hid herself deep into her book, scribbling out on the page something that would work, even if it wasn't her best.

One of the unforgivable curses is the ignoring cruciatus curse whic makes a victim feel pain. It can be used in torture. Another is the killing curse which basically shoots someone like a gun without wasting a bullet. The third curse is emp impi imperius which can make a victim do whatever you want, like mind control.
