Jonathon always felt queasy teaching his seventh years about Muggle dating, and the sickness that was lingering in his body only made it worse. Muggle dating still seemed like a pointless topic to teach seventh year students, because they were old enough to understand the concept of dating and smart enough to envision how dating could change between the magical and muggle worlds. However he knew that regardless how irrelevant or inappropriate he thought the subject was, he was required to bite the bullet, ignore the nausea in his stomach, and teach with a smile on his face as he always did. "Before I say anything else, I would like to apologize for my absence last week. I did want to be here and teach, but I was very sick and couldn't make it to class." He smiled at the class, nodded, then introduced the subject of the lesson. "This lesson is about Muggle dating, and should be relatively easy for you guys to understand. We will be going on a field trip to a movie theater, which I hope will be a way for everyone to experience Muggle social customs first hand." He said, rocking back and forward on his feet as he continued speaking. "Some common 'dates' that Muggles go on involve, seeing a movie, going out to dinner, or really, anything you can think of that involves two people getting to know each other." Jon would have rolled his eyes when he heard a snigger from the back of the class, but he instead chose to reiterate the fact this was a lesson and supposed to be taken seriously. "One important thing I need to say, is that we're only going to mention things that are appropriate here. We are all old enough to act mature." He attempted to make light of the lesson and continued with a polite yet bemused smile on his face. "But, anyway, my understanding is that the point of going on a date is to spend time with a person you're interested in so you can get to know who they are." He shrugged. "I guess it will make more sense for me to say that it's like hanging out with a friend, except the person is usually more than a friend." "Now everyone, partner up!" He stepped forward from his desk so he could reveal the portkey the class was going to use. "If we have an odd number there can always be a group of three." He waited for the class to pair up and gather around the portkey. "Each pair have a forty dollar budget so they can see whatever movie they like within our time-frame, I'll hand each pair their money when we arrive." Jonathon waited for the class to gather round before he touched the portkey and was whisked to outskirts of a New Zealand town a second time. When everyone had gotten their bearings, he handed out forty dollars to each pair so they could enjoy their movie. "Again, the reason for this lesson is so we can understand the social customs of the muggle world. So have fun, and learn lots!" He said before taking a step back and allowing the group of students to enter the movie theater and go on their mock dates. Jon watched from afar for the remainder of the lesson to supervise and ensure everyone returned to the castle safely. Homework: Roleplay the lesson.Muggle Studies,7,2 |

Desislav was thrilled to see Professor Phillips and almost told him as much before remembering the man was a professor and he couldn't do that. Sure, the sub had taken them on a trip, but he was happy to see his regular professor. Desislav didn't like change much. Stretching his legs out as far as he could while having his bum still remain on the seat, Desislav listened to what the professor had to say, pretending to be nonchalant even though he was extremely interested in this lesson. He'd only just realized that he and Kayleigh were in an actual relationship and not just casually dating, so it was obvious to him that there was a lot he needed to learn in this department. Hearing that they'd be going to a movie theater put a smile on the teens face. He'd been to an outdoor movie once before, his sister having taken him when he was young, so he actually knew what this was. As the man spoke about them only discussing things that were appropriate, Desislav let out a loud snigger, knowing exactly what the man was referring to. He didn't know firsthand, of course, but he knew from stories he'd heard around the common room. Desislav raised his hand. "Can we get an example of what might be inappropriate to discuss?" he asked, trying to keep a straight face as he asked the question. He was just trying to get a laugh and maybe see Professor Phillips blush his way through an awkward conversation. Joining the class to get his forty dollars, Desislav wished that Kayleigh was here too. Then, he could really practice. Instead, he was glad to be placed with someone he knew. He pointed to a movie that looked like it would have a ton of action, knowing that's what he'd want to see. With a large supply of snacks on his lap, Desi did just that, glad for the chance to get out of the castle. He kept a few sweets, knowing that Kayleigh would want to enjoy some too and when he returned to the castle, the teenager thought for a moment to remember what class she'd been in and then headed in that direction. |
