Elijah had been enjoying his time at Hogwarts so far, as he had hoped he would. Most days he spent in the library doing homework with Morry, but others he spent looking around trying to discover some of the secrets that the castle held. On this day, thanks to the sun, he and Giddy had managed to convince Morry to come outside and enjoy the fresh air as a family, more or less. The school was magical, for lack of a better word, and each day was definitely a new experience for him. He took a seat at the edge of the lake, and he had worn some shorts that he was comfortable swimming in so that he could really enjoy the sun. Looking at Giddy, he smirked. "You game for a swim?" He asked, challenge clear in his voice and his eyes. He wondered if Morry would join them, but he wasn't sure that she would.

With Winter over and Spring settling in, the lake was a refreshing place to be. The air wasn't blistering cold, and the water was starting to warm back up. Gideon sat with his siblings, looking out across the still water, his toes burrowing beneath the pebbled shore. It wasn't exactly the beach. There was no surf and little sand, but it was nice. He turned his attention to his brother, smiling at his comment. "Really Ravenclaw? You're on." Jumping to his feet, he stretched out his arms and rotated his shoulders. "What about you Morry? I hear they have merfolks out there."

In side the castle it was cool and nice but the warmth of the day just beckoned to her. She did enjoy being outside and it meant that she bumped in to far less people on these vast grounds. Minerva had thought she would hate it here at Hogwarts but it really wasn't all that bad. The Great Hall was the biggest issue for her really, people thought she was desperately shy but she was actually extremely anxious about being in such a large room with so many people and so much noise. The draught her parents had gotten for her did take the edge off of it but she was definitely tempted to start learning how to do a quietening charm on her ears so that they lessened the sound that they heard. She did after all need to hear for lessons which had turned out to be amazing and she couldn't wait each day to get to class.

Her classmates were another thing altogether of course, some classes the first year Hufflepuffs shared with Slytherins, other times Ravenclaws and at other classes Gryffindors. She had no opinion really on anyone, she kept her head down and did her work or listened avidly to the teacher, always sitting herself at the top of any classroom with her hand shooting upwards whenever a question had to be asked. She knew her peers sniggered at her, she could hear some whispering no matter how much she tried to tune them out but there were also a handful that were fairly alright and would smile and say hello to her.

She had left the castle early with a cushion and a book, the book was about magical creatures that she had borrowed from the library and it was a fascinating read. Minerva had sat herself near the lake right behind a tree; sitting upon the cushion and letting the breeze dance upon her skin as she sat cross legged atop the cushion with her back against the tree trunk. So absorbed was she in her book that she hadn't even heard the chatter of those close by.

Morrigan was still adjusting to life at Hogwarts. Even now when she woke up in the morning she was confused why she wasn't at home in her bed. At least she had her brothers with her, and Elijah in Ravenclaw. Gideon being in Gryffindor was slightly troubling. Particularly when she read something in a book she just had to tell him about, but it was past curfew. With winter coming to an end Elijah, and Gideon had convinced Morrigan to come down to the lake with them. She didn't plan on doing any swimming, but wouldn't mind getting some fresh air. She shook her head when Gideon asked if she planned to join in on a swim. "Fairies don't like water." She told him in a airy voice before going to take a seat underneath a near by tree. She had already made herself well acquainted with the library, and had one of the books with her today. When Morrigan got to the three she saw that there was already another girl there. "Oh. Hello." Morrigan greated her, "Do you mind sharing the tree?" She asked as she sat down beside the girl.

Elijah grinned when Giddy was more than happy to go for a swim, and he rolled his eyes when Morry told them that fairies didn't swim. He had expected no less, she had never really been the type of person to get involved like he and Giddy were. She was always living in her books, but she was his sister and Elijah loved her - most of the time at least. Before he had a chance to jump in the lake, he saw Morry talking to a girl on the side and he walked over to introduce himself as well. "Hey there! Who's your friend, Morry?" He asked with a smile on his face. "I'm Elijah, Morry here is my sister." He said, wanting to make as many friends as she could, and at the very least it looked like Morry had found someone that suited her personality.

Unaware of the presence of another student, and the interactions occurring between her and his siblings, Gideon ran forward without Elijah and leapt into the water with a resounding splash. As he surfaced, he threw back his soaking hair and wiped the water from his eyes, only now seeing the newcomer. How was it that his siblings were making friends before he was? "Hey! Who's that?" He called out, paddling on the spot to keep himself afloat. "Do they want to come swim? The water's great, guys. I think I saw a mermaid."

Minerva had not wanted to listen in on their conversation but it was pretty impossible not to when they were such a short distance away from her. She overheard the girl telling the two boys that fairies didn't like water and she bit her lip wanting to counteract that statement. Honestly, people really shouldn't say things that they were not a hundred percent sure of at all. Then as if life just wanted to ruffle her feathers even more the girl moved to where Minerva was seated and on seeing her there, greeted her and asked if she could sit. Minerva wasn't rude by nature, but she did come across that way at times. She looked at the spot the girl sat down on and wondered why this girl had even asked if she could sit when she had just gone right ahead and done it anyway? People her own age would always confuse her, saying one thing, doing another entirely. Why couldn't people just mean what they say and say what they mean?! Was that so difficult.

She gave a brief smile of acknowledgement and murmured a 'hi' back to the girl, looking back at her book again before anyone else could say anymore. Minerva felt relieved that at least the girl had a book with her and would hopefully be entirely engrossed in that. However, she had not counted on the boys greeting her as well and so when they did, she made a great show of placing her book mark in between the pages of the library book and closed it pointedly.

"Hello" she returned, with neither smile nor frown to show her feelings on their interruption, "I am Minerva." she replied to the boy's introduction and looked from the girl Morry beside her to the boy. They didn't look much alike but the same could be said for her own siblings she guessed. She looked to the boy who was paddling now in the lake and shook her head slowly.

"No thank you, I've heard that there is a giant squid or shark of sorts in that lake ... though how it ever got there is beyond me. I haven't come to that particular part in Hogwarts, A History yet but you are right, there are mer people there, not very pleasant apparently."

It was as if a candle had been lit that would not quench now and Minerva could not help herself as she continued.

"Oh ... and there are fairies that are specific to water. The most famous is Nimue who gave the Excalibur to King Arthur but there are many others. Land faeries do not like water much, it is why superstition in Celtic countries have muggles spit on their hands before they make a deal. Faeries will not shake a wetted palm but merpeople are a specie of the water fairy."

She gave a pleasant enough smile, or hoped she did at any rate and with that she paused a moment more before opening her book once again.

Morrigan was about to start enjoying her book when Elijah appeared beside her, and started with that dumb nickname again. She had given up on every getting Gideon, and Elijah to stop using it, but heads would roll if people at school did. "My name is Morrigan, not Morry." Morrigan introduced herself making sure to shoot Elijah the stink eye. Her annoyance with her brothers however soon turned to the girl they had just met. She seemed like she thought she knew everything about everything. "That's nice." Morrigan said flatly before standing up. She would find a better spot to read. The young witch walked over closer to the waters edge. She just hoped Gideon didn't splash too much.

[ooc]Sorry this took so long. I've had no muse for Morrigan. :dead: [/ooc]

Elijah frowned when Minerva said what she did to Morry, knowing that she wouldn't be pleased with it. His fears were soon confirmed when she got up and walked away, and pointed out her full name. Elijah knew that she didn't approve of it, but he'd been doing it for so long that it had become a force of habit. He shrugged to Minerva, not knowing what to say to her. "Be right back!" He said, rushing over to Morry, "Morry are you okay?" He asked, knowing that she had been offended, or at least annoyed, by the other girls comments about fairies.

Forgot about this topic :r

Gideon paddled alone while the others talked to their new friend, only to find out that perhaps assuming they were friendly was the wrong thing to do. Morrigan stormed on over to the shore and Gideon shifted his eyes between his siblings, and the distant girl. "Girl drama already?" He grinned as he floated on closer, enough so that his feet could touch the bottom of the lake, his bare feet sinking into the sand. "What's the goss?"

Minerva heard the girl correct her brother before Morrigan's attention was turned upon herself and all that Minerva got for her enlightening remark was a 'that's nice', after that the young Hufflepuff wasn't sure what happened. The girl got her book and moved away and her brother followed after to see how she was. Minerva stared in bewilderment after them, hearing clearly the boy in the lake's comment about girl drama!

Minerva thought that was harsh, she hadn't done anything wrong, why was there drama? With a sigh she looked back at her book again and even slightly turned her body so that her face was no longer visible to them. A hand reached up and she wiped a single tear drop that infuriated her, why was she crying? She had done nothing wrong?! But this was always the way it went wasn't it? She couldn't help telling people what she knew, it was always nice in her opinion to pass on information, the world would be a far blander place, a far ignorant fearful place if people didn't educate themselves.

The words on the page simply blurred before her now, they had ruined her reading time as well but stubbornly she sat there until the emptiness, the abysmal loneliness that she was awfully used to wrapped itself about her. Why had the hat sorted her into Hufflepuff? Everyone went on and on about how it was the friendliest of houses, how people just assumed you were all sunshine and rainbows when all she wanted to do was smack a few people for being barking mad and unjust.

Well, let the girl have her temper tantrum, what did Minerva care anyway? The three were welcome to one another, she hadn't asked for their company and they would most likely not subject themselves anymore to her. Why would they ... they'd probably consider her a know-it-all and all up in her self like so many other people had over the years. A small sigh escaped her, girl drama indeed!
