Some people tend to complain about how rough work was when the coffee shop got busy and there were orders flying at them in all directions. Khalanee, for her part, would take the hustle and bustle of an early Monday morning over the lazy early afternoons when she could practically take a nap behind the counter (if the floors weren't gross and her manager wouldn't flay her alive for it) and that was precisely how the past months had gone for her. All of those things pushed behind her, as he new life begins today. Khalanee had just moved out from her parents tree house in Bali, it took her a couple of weeks to persuade them but they finally gave in with her wishes. It was hard for Khalane''s parents to let go, all those years home-schooled by Aunt Lucinda and now just after getting a job and settling down like the rest; she decides to move to New Zealand. Why do you want to go there anymore? You could have picked Malaysia? Somewhere in Asia, perhaps? Those were the things her mother kept on asking her each day while helping her pack. Khalanee would just laugh it off and answer the same thing, "Destiny." It was something she just knew, and also it was where he index finger lander on when she rotated the globe a few months ago inside an old bookstore. She also knew that she'll miss Earl, the one who handles the cashiers for the bookshop.

As luck would have it, it was around noon when she found an old studio type apartment for lease. A big smile spread across her face, while looking up at the bricked wall building. The swinging door was a familiar sound, along with the prissy tones, from the overhanging bell, that always followed. Khalanee heard it, loud and clear. However, it was something she didn’t need right now and as the noise met her, she huffed between her teeth. The crowd she pass by along the market was enough to make her ears ring. It was something she'll get used to at, since it was quiet and peaceful back at Bali. She scratched her neck and asked herself if this was the right thing to do, stay in New Zealand, find a job and live alone. Different thoughts started to invade her mind, as she stood their waiting to for her feet to drag her out of the building. It was only then that she felt nervous being alone in a place she has never been to until now. Before she could even move, an old lady with while long hair pulled back in a pony tail welcome her. Khalanee asked about the rent, the monthly dues and then went up the building. "The only available room is at the top floor. The elevator has broken down so we'll have to take the stairs. Sorry dear," says the landlady. It wouldn't hurt to have a few stairs as an exercise, right? She thought to herself as she followed the old woman who seems to be used to this kind of lifestyle.

The room was at the 11th floor. Khalanee could already feel her legs burn, like literally burn. Tired and breathing heavily, she continued to follow the land lady. It led them to a room with a number, 11-S painted on the door. The door instantly opened when the lock was removed. It wasn't that bad nor was the room great, it was small but it suited a person like Khalanee who's just about to start her life alone. There was a small single bed by the side, near the window that was covered with plain blue curtains. A table and chair positioned beside the bed and an old antique cabinet beside the door. It wasn't spacious as she imagined it to be but it'll serve as her home for the next months. "I'll take it!" Khalanee said with glee. It was nice to start with something small and move on with the size of a room later on. It took them about an hour for signing papers and paying the rent in advance. Since she didn't have any much stuff, Khalanee placed her luggage by the cabinet and seated at her bed; thinking if she should explore the city first. She stood up and got her cross body orange bag and went down the long winding stairs. It'll really need some using too, the landlady said that the elevator will be fixed at the end of the month or so.

Khalanee left the building and roamed the streets of Dunedin. In her while skirt and floral blouse she made passed by the market that was just a few blocked away from where she'll live. In search of a local coffee shop or perhaps a vintage store full of books or clothes - hoping for job openings as well. Typically, Khalanee wasn't the best at making plans or at least she wasn't good at making plans and also keeping them. She'd forget or something more interesting would come up, or she was just too lazy to put in the effort. it absolutely infuriated her parents that she haven't contacted them yet. She promised she'll call or write a letter once she has found a place. She did her best to still keep in touch with them. Running in anxiousness of a lecture, Khalanee wandered around further and looked for a telephone booth. One thing that annoyed her the most was her mother nagging at her for not listening or contacting her, it was something that would make her lose her sanity. An hour has passed and still no sign of a telephone booth, Khalanee was feeling hopeless and hungry. Really hungry. The nearest shop that she saw was a candy shop, it's either that or nothing. As people started to trail out, she moved inside the store to start looking for anything to chew on.

[OOC]sorry this took so long!! Give or take a month[/OOC]

Hakon Butterfield was wandering the streets that day, getting to know the city more. He had recently moved to this part of New Zealand and somehow managed to find a place to stay for the time being. He needed to find a job soon, however the first thing he needed to do was meet his cousins who apparently went to Hogwarts in New Zealand. He had no idea how on earth to reach them or even what their names were, all he knew was that they were from the same area as him. Hakon sighed as he reflected on what he should do. The sooner he found them, the easier it would be to stay in touch. Maybe his aunt and uncle could take him in. After all it couldn't be that awkward between them, right? Sending a letter seemed weird, he was not going to be viewed as that long lost cousin who somehow found the twins without their parents telling them first. Oh that was it. He should find out what the family name is, contact his aunt and uncle and then if they agreed to meet him, send the letter to the children. That would be much better.

Stopping for a drink and a bite to eat didn't seem bad. Glancing at his watch, Hakon decided it was time for a break. Not that his feet were starting to hurt, in fact all of this walking and getting to know so many useful places - because the twenty two year old was not one to take notice of irrelevant things - made him hungry. After some more walking around, Hakon found a quiet coffee shop around the corner, one that any other normal person would not have noticed otherwise and entered it. A hot chocolate and two doughnuts later, Hakon was back on the streets. He had no idea where he was going and he simply let his feet guide him to - back at the apartment he was staying in for the month. Okay then, clearly he was done for the day. The apartment was pretty far up, so instead of taking the stairs like he was used to, he waited for the elevator because there was no way that he with the aching in his feet was climbing up so many stairs. Eventually, he arrived and as soon as he locked himself in he plopped down on the couch, not bothering to take his shoes off. He could do that later tonight. Besides, he was going to go out again probably a bit later.

Before he knew it, Hakon was bored. Without a job or friends, he was bound to have nothing to do all day. Sighing once more, he got up and switched shoes before actually taking the stairs this time, considering he was descending the stairs instead of ascending. As much as he wanted to get to know his family, how on earth was he meant to do that when he had no job and no money? He'd eventually have to go job seeking and he could not decide whether to have two jobs or either work in the wizarding world, or simply work in like a bookstore or shop or restaurant, or something. He needed to meet people, and that was beginning to bug him. Hakon was starting to lose sight of what he should be doing with his life. As he passed a candy store, a blonde mop of hair caught his eye. Furrowing his eyebrows, the twenty two year old backtracked slowly and glanced inside. He definitely hadn't imagined that. He opened the door and stepped inside, not really interested in the candy itself but more the person he had seen. Hakon's eyes scanned the room. When his eyes landed on the person he had spotted just a second ago, he rolled his eyes. It had just been a child. An exaggeratedly cheerful son. Maybe getting some candy for future wouldn't be so bad, after all who knew when the next time he'd come across a store like this was going to be. He grabbed a handful, put them in a clear bag provided and went over to the counter to pay for them. When it was his turn to pay and he received his sweets, placing the money on the table, he turned around but had foolishly missed the woman behind him causing the two to bump into each other. "
Sorry, my fault," he apologised, pursing his lips at his stupidity. The things he did for food.
