Professor Orbon smiled as his students walked in, this would be a fun lesson for them and he knew they needed a good amount of fun so this would be perfect for them. Hopefully it would bring his class closer together. "Evening, students. My apologies for being away the past two weeks. I had personal matters to attend to. Anyway... Today we are going to be looking at famous wizarding astronomers. These pioneers of astronomy have helped us understand fact from fiction." There was the briefest of pauses before he went on. "Does anybody know of any famous wizarding astronomers?" There was one hand that went up and the man nodded to the student to hear their answer. "I've heard of one; Harmony Salvatore." the student replied. Impressed he smiled and said, "Correct." "Now, let us discuss Harmony Salvatore: Salvatore was born in 1743 and she attended Hogwarts Scotland. Thanks to her father's large income, Salvatore bought her way into getting good grades... except for astronomy. Salvatore discovered that the 'solar flares' coming from the sun are in fact magic that we use. She had a brother called Francis, and he tried to cover up these accusations because he envied her magical abilities- him being a squib." Eduardo never really understood squibs despite his own mother being a muggle. It still felt a bit strange so while he did feel bad, he never quite understood it but this was not up for discussion now or ever in front of his students. "Now, Another astronomer was Romedius Gilmour. He had lead the first society of Cosmolidia- which is an organization that investigates extra-terrestrial beings in the magical world. As we learnt earlier this semester, extra-terrestrials do, in fact, exist. These people are still around today, protecting our magical world. Not to mention they work in conjunction with the British MI5." Professor Orbon smiled at the students and then pressed on. "And the last person is Annabelle Beavis who was the founder of the Mortmyron Observatory." This was what next brought him to pointing towards an old spyglass, large and sturdy but old. "Come, touch the port key. We must be off," he said and with that they all left. By now he hoped all would land as easily as he did although it was not the best form of transportation. Professor Orbon smiled at the class and said, "This, students, is Bishop's Rock." It was very loud with water crashing on the rocky shore. "This is the Mortmyron Observatory, which was built by..?" He paused, waiting for an answer. "Annabelle Beavis." A student called back. He was relieved that someone was listening. "We are going to have a look inside. It's completely abandoned now." The man hoped his seventh years had some sort of adventurous spirit as he led them to a trapdoor on the ground and cast a spell to release the padlock which kept out anyone without a wand. Of course most things kept them out. Eduardo cast Lumos Maxima and the whole room lit for them to see, shortly thereafter they entered, magical telescopes, long abandoned and out of use, a large glass dome roof and sketchings of their solar system and many others. As far as was seeable. There were many doorways leading elsewhere but their time was limited so he said, "You have twenty minutes to explore but please have sense. If it looks delicate to touch, please do not touch. Otherwise be kind to the objects here." Eduardo was glad that seventh years were at least a little more mature in this sense. However twenty minutes past and they returned the same way they came, once more without homework. EC to the first two people to answer the questions.Astronomy,7,4 |

Seeing Professor Orbon in the classroom that week was a sight for sore eyes. Pia was glad to see him again and smiled to him as she walked in the room and sat down at a desk. The subject of magical astronomers was one that had been in Pia's mind since her previous astronomy lesson that was focused on astronomers that were muggle. She had read into it after class, wondering why only muggle astronomers were mentioned during that lesson, so she was relieved to know that she would be learning about magical astronomers that day. When the professor asked the class if they knew of any wizarding astronomers, Pia raised her hand, glad that her reading meant she knew of at least one astronomer. "I've heard of one; Harmony Salvatore." She said, nodding when she was told she was correct. Pia then began to take notes on each of the astronomers mentioned, finding their stories interesting and understanding their relevance. She was particularly interested in the work of Romedius Gilmour since it focused on extra terrestrials. She hadn't known anything about 'aliens' prior to studying astronomy that year so it was refreshing information and something she was sure to remember for her exams due to her interest in it. She continued writing notes until the class gathered around a port key. Pia followed suit and observed her surroundings after she'd adjusted to the new environment. It was cold and windy yet the observatory the class was there to see held her interest. She entered the creaky, abandoned building alongside Orwell and unconsciously reached to touch his arm as the floor creaked beneath them. Despite how unstable the place was, and the feelings of dread Pia felt that it would collapse at any minute, she enjoyed the field trip and felt like looking at all the abandoned telescopes and equipment were worth the trouble. She returned to Hogwarts feeling enlightened and excited to see what her next astronomy lesson would hold. |

Since they had lost the quidditch game and that meant the season was over, Isaiah had a little more of his time to focus upon classes. That particularly day he had astronomy and where the last two lesson had been taught by a substitute teacher he wondered if this week would be the same. Isaiah wasn't too fussed about it really, he just wanted to do well in them, and it didn't matter who the person was at the front. The teen smiled to himself as he got to the room, finding his usual spot in the room, it was odd that soon this spot would be anyone but his. Leaving the school meant leaving whole parts of what had become his life behind, but Isaiah wasn't really complaining about it, he was looking forward to leaving, it would be the land of new opportunity for him. He would finally make the decision as to what he wanted to do. Isaiah found his seat in the room as the professor got started, explaining why he hadn't been at the lessons, but Isaiah saw no reason for the man to do so, though he was their professor it didn't really matter why he wasn't there. However, Isaiah just ignored it and instead focused on what the man was saying, they seemed to be continuing on from the last lecture and talking about wizarding astronomers rather than the muggle ones, but he didn't really mind either or, being still relatively clueless about both. The teen nodded as the professor continued his lecture after having asked a question. Isaiah was glad it had been a ravenclaw who had correctly answered, it was better than the house points went to them. However, it seemed they wouldn't be staying in the room, instead they were to grab the portkey and be taken to a new place. He did as he was supposed to and as soon as they got to it, wrapped his robe and jumper more tightly around himself as the cold wind kept little warmth in the abandoned observatory. He nodded at the information about who had built it and then as soon as they could he wondered around, it was certainly creepy, he didn't like much about it but the overriding feeling from it was creepy and that was sorta ridiculous since Isaiah had plenty of experiences with ghosts a place like this should be easy. However after spending every moment of the twenty minutes wondering around it was finally time to return to class. |

The king of flowers had moved from one task to the over it seemed and he'd gone from having to look after the roses for the rose event to the pride event which he held. The boy was looking forward to it, he was happy to be running it, but it was a lot of work, work he had to balance on top of the NEWT work that he had. Unlike others however, Orwell was glad he didn't really need to worry about the exams, he wanted to do well for his own sake but it wouldn't really matter if he didn't, his parents and community would not mind and it would not stop his job prospects. The boy was pretty happy really, even though he was busy and stressed, he was happy. The pride event was his biggest joy and he was running through everything he needed for the day as he stepped into the astronomy class. Orwell took his seat with a soft expression sitting on his face and he looked to the man at the front who had clearly returned from where ever he had been for this class. Orwell didn't mind and was more keen to just get right to the lesson part of it. he was glad when that did actually happen. He nodded along with what was being said, taking careful notes of the magic astronomers and was glad that the first two were both female. However the lesson was far more than a class based lecture, he soon found himself touching a portkey and being transported somewhere completely different, as it turned out, Bishop's Rock, and that name rung a bell for Orwell who then raised his hand to answer the question, "Annabelle Beavis," he said, happy to be right, it was then they were allowed to just go on their own, and he walked with Pia, his friend in the class and wasn't too surprised when she touched his arm. Orwell took her hand in his and remained close to her as they wandered around the building, the empty cold, run down building. It was certainly different from a lot of the other places they visited and not a place he really wanted to come back to ever, but it was something to see. He looked down at Pia and gave her an encouraging smile as they wandered back to the professor, letting go of her hand only when they reached the class again. |
