Professor Aeon Summers

Canine Animagus ☼ Spell Inventor Magical Menagerie Proprietor Transfiguration Professor 1-4 Brodie's Familiar

Allowing everyone to enter and take their seats, Aeon quickly got started on the lesson. "This might not have been evident before, but Transfigurations are not everlasting. The strength of a spell is heavily dependent upon the actual power within the wizard. If the caster is strong then the transfiguration will last for quite a long time. If the caster is weak then the transfiguration lasts for just a short time."

To demonstrate, Summers opened the drawer to his desk and withdrew the jar that had been present in the previous class. The jar was full of all the beetles that they had transfigured into buttons. "These were your buttons." Professor Summers announced, turning the jar in the air for them all to see. "So the beetles returned to their original shape after only a few hours, but some of them actually took days," He said with no attempt to hide his pride. He glanced briefly at the students who's beetles had taken the longest to reform and smiled."I can see that some of you are developing your capabilities wonderfully. Now who remembers covering the lesson in which transfiguration was discussed as a punishment used to turn offending wizards into statues?"

It came with no surprise that most of the class raised their hands.

"We are going to perform something quite similar to this today." Professor Summers remarked, to some shocked faces of the students. He bent down, pulling up a cage containing a large amount of chipmunks confined inside. "There is one difference. These animals will not be left as a statue for a length of time. As soon as I have graded your work, I will transfigure them back. This will not harm the chipmunks, as these are the same animals we use year after year for this practice. They are well fed and cared for here within the school, many of them actually having lived longer than if they were in the wild." He explained to them, knowing some students might feel the need to protest animal cruelty or some other such bull excuse. The chipmunks were raised for the purpose of Transfiguration classes, being subjected to magic didn't much faze them.

He quickly began to pass the small creatures out after casting impedimenta on them so they would move much slower and become easier for everyone to handle. They were still just animals and weren't going to sit on a desk peacefully. He couldn't have students chasing them around all lesson, possibly harming the animal or themselves. "Be careful and treat them with care. We don't want either of you harmed."

"The wand moment is the same we did last week," said Aeon as he wandered around the room. "Visualize your chipmunk turning into a statue of any material, the easiest and most common being wood, stone, or metal, then cast the spell. The incantation is 'Statua'. Have fun and if you have any problems, I will be around to help you out." He wandered back to his desk at the front, tapping the remaining chipmunk with the tip of his wand. It lost its brown colour, instead shifting into a statue of white marble.

struggling artiste | class of 2046, former head boy

[justify]The young ravenclaw had his head behind a book he'd found in the library, the teen had been hoping to continue his art studies at school even though there were was no teacher and very little instruction overall, but the teen was feeling like he could definitely manage on his own, he just wanted the books and boy did he gather all the books that he could on the subject. Though teaching Lilyanna about pencils and pencil sharpeners in the last term had definitely proved fun and Theo liked the idea of teaching, he also didn't like the pressure and he truly believed he would make an awful teacher so to him as much as it had been fun it was not a good option. The boy was focusing on the skills he thought he had, the ones he deemed himself not awful at and were focusing on that. However this did mean that when classes rolled around that day, the boy was nose deep in a book that made him run late. He was running around the dorm room gathering the items he needed to be able to go to class, which he did so at the first possible moment.

Tholomyes took a seat in the transfiguration classroom, and let his gaze settle upon the professor at the front of the room with a small lingering smile that professor who let them cast magic. He had no issues in the theory in this class as long as there was a little bit of practical at the end. He liked that more than anything and the boy looked to the professor who began his class, and the boy had his notes ready to be added to the notes he had from previous classes. He was listening along with it, and on the question on the other lesson, the Ravenclaw raised his hand, before listening to what the professor was saying, and then was surprised by what they would doing, and he didn't want to harm it, but he didn't exactly want to go against the professor's wishes, and then he just took one of the chipmunks and began the spell. He did the same motion as the last lesson, "Statua," he cast and the chipmunk before him turned into a statue. Pretty pleased with his work the boy then handed it to the professor to inspect before gathering it up his belongings and leaving the room.
