Professor Aeon Summers

Canine Animagus ☼ Spell Inventor Magical Menagerie Proprietor Transfiguration Professor 1-4 Brodie's Familiar

Professor Summers was excited to begin today's lesson, eyeing the biscuit tin pushed to the side of his desk. He recalled going through the same lesson in his fourth year, and it had been a lot of fun. Things were a little different now than they were in the old days, however.

Aeon leaned back in his chair as the students walked in, some immediately noticing the tin sitting in plain view. Items on his desk, other than paper and quills, usually pertained to the day's subject. He waited for them to take their seats, some curious, others oblivious, until finally he stood up to address them. "Good morning and welcome back. Today's lesson is going to involve transfiguration and food." He explained, picking up the tin and shaking it between his hands, the biscuits rattled around inside until he withdrew one. In appearance, it resembled a mundane custard cream.

"This is called a canary cream. Not many people eat them on a regular basis, though. Can any of you tell me why?" He pointed at a student with their hand up in the back row.

"...Because we'll turn into canaries?" They said.

Professor Summers smiled again at the answers accuracy. "Exactly. Once upon a time, transfiguration spells were placed into objects so that when they were touched; or in this case, ingested, a transfiguration spell was triggered."

"Back in Ireland in the 1300's, a man by the name of Aksel cast a spell into a rock in the middle of a wooded area that caused everyone that touched it to have their fingers turned into sausages. To this day, no one knows why a wizard would cast such a randomly malicious spell, but for some reason or another, use of the spell fell into sharp decline shortly after. Today's wizards seem to only imbue objects with magic to fulfill the youth's unquenchable thirst practical jokes."

Professor Summers picked the little biscuit up and continued to speak. "These little treats look tasty and small, but the spells that go into them to turn the eater into a canary are some of the difficult to cast. First you've got to cast a spell to turn the object itself into an enchanted object, much like you would to create a portkey. Then you've got to cast a transfiguration spell--a switching spell, to be precise, into it in such a manner that it will radiate outward to affect another object or person."

"One would think that such a complicated spell would draw the most intelligent and powerful wizards to think of creative and useful ways to use it but so far we have joke items."
He looked around the room with a devilish smirk on his face. When he was a student, the professor had convinced him to eat one, then promptly transfigured herself into a cat to chase him around the classroom as a canary. Fun times. "So. Is there anyone brave enough to eat this?"
Homework: None. Extra credit to the first one to try the canary cream ;)

[justify]Lydia had watched the quidditch game with a low feeling, knowing that it really didn't matter what happened to Hufflepuff, they could not grab a win, even before with the other game when Gryffindors should by all accounts have lost, they hadn't and this was the most frustrating thing ever to her. Lydia knew or definitely thought that her team, the proud hufflepuff team could do better. But, as it turned out, what she wanted wasn't always what happened. The girl just had to focus and at the very least she could sit with her boyfriend in their classes together and focus on that. Everything in her life was perfectly fine and she knew that her relationship with Felix was the best sort she could ask for, he was great and she thoroughly enjoyed spending the time with him. The teen got her things together as she left for the classroom, her quidditch things in her bag as she left for the classroom, while they didn't have a game any time soon really she was still eager to get practicing, which she would be able to do as long as the classes didn't run too long.

Lydia sat down in the classroom, and just looked to the front of the room where the professor stood ready to give his lesson. She wasn't sure what they'd end up doing in this lesson but was feeling pretty excited about it nonetheless, the teen didn't think it would be that interesting but was proved wrong when the professor began talking about transfiguration and food. She easily listened along and then upon the question she tentatively rose her hand, exceedingly surprised when he spoke, "Because we'll turn into canaries?" she said, though the question in her tone was because she was completely uncertain about how right she was. The teen was pretty pleased when the professor just began talking about what it was he meant, and what the nature of the canary creams were. It seemed almost funny that a joke like that was such a huge importance to transfiguration but perhaps it was more about just the nature of it. The teen however as they were asked to go to the front to try it, she decided to not, she didn't want to eat one, and so just waited, watching others do it until the class was over.

Part Veela/ Part Owner of Zuries

Entering the transfiguration classroom, the teenager sighed heavily knowing it would probably be another boring lesson. Transfiguration was one of his more interesting classes, but that didn’t necessarily make it fun. They had to do a lot of work, and then they’d get homework and Desislav never could get himself focused enough to complete all of his assignments. He tried to explain that to his mom and dad, but they never seemed to understand why he couldn’t sit still long enough to read a book quietly or even do more active activities like fly a broom for long. He was a great flyer and could probably have made his house team if he wanted to, but Desi didn’t think he could stay up in the air for hours on end like his dad did for the Thunderers. After a while, he grew bored. Taking his seat, Desi waited for the lesson to begin, his fingers playing with his parchment, making it into different shapes. It was too bad that he didn’t know some kind of an enchantment to bring the parchment to life as he made a piece into a plane and another in the shape of a frog.

As Professor Summers began the lesson, Desi perked up. Transfiguration and Food? Perhaps this was something he could actually get behind. The teenager recognized the treat that was put on the table right away, a knowing smile growing on his face. He had a stash of them in his chest upstairs. The boy didn’t answer the question the professor asked, but he was definitely interested in this lesson. Listening to the magic involved in the spell, Desi was surprised to learn that a simple canary cream was actually a pretty powerful piece of magic.

When the professor asked for a volunteer, Desi didn’t hesitate. “I’ll do it!” he blurted out, jumping from his seat. The boy had never been afraid to be the butt of a joke. He was just as good at taking a joke as he was at dishing one out. Besides, he knew that the effects only lasted like a minute or so. Moving to the front of the room, the teenager held out his hand for the canary cream. When it was in his, he looked at the classful of students. With a smile, he stuffed the whole thing in his mouth, chewing and swallowing the treat after a moment. By the time he’d finished it, the boy was bright yellow and covered in feathers from head to toe. He began laughing loudly himself, knowing the laughter that was going to follow.
