Canine Animagus ☼ Spell Inventor Magical Menagerie Proprietor Transfiguration Professor 1-4 Brodie's Familiar

Most of the students sat down in their desks upon entering the classroom, not bothering with the plastic jar on the Professor's desk. There was nothing special about the jar, but there were many colorful things inside it. A few of them kept standing and staring at the jar, while most just ignored it. Professor Summers waved away the few students that gawked, gesturing towards their desks.

"Sit down everyone," said Professor Summers, grinning. "Today we are going to work on our first transfiguration spell of this year." He said, walking in front of the class. He could see excitement on students' faces at doing some practical work. He himself was excited, as he preferred spellcasting over writing constantly. As a student, using magic in class would always give him a rush, as if nothing could stop him now that he could turn turtles into tortoises.

"In the last lesson we learned about Animate to Inanimate Transfiguration, and that's what we are going to do today." He said and held up the colourful jar from the table.

"Beetles," He announced, raising the jar just above his chest so everyone could see the small insects scittering around inside. "We are going to transfigure them into coat buttons. Small objects especially insects are easiest to transfigure, because you don't have as much detail to worry about," He said, handing the jar to a girl in the front row. "Keep one beetle with you, and pass out the others among the rest."

The students took a long time to choose a beetle of their choice. There was quite the variety, colours, spots, sizes. Finally, after the last student had selected a beetle, Aeon continued the lesson. "Hold onto your beetles, don't let them escape; be gentle though, we don't want them dead. Please try not to kill them. Now, you will find that in transfiguration that it is easier to change items that are closer in size to each other. Matchsticks and needles are of the same size, shape, and weight. Essentially all you had to transfigure was the material and color. The same with beetles. They are small and similar in size to buttons, so all you need to do is to change the shape. Remember, that doesn't mean that it's easy. You still need the proper wand movement and concentration. Now," Professor Summers flourished his wand, "as I told you in the last lesson, Animate to Inanimate Transfiguration uses the 'three tap' method of wand waving. Make sure you use that or the spell will not work properly. Visualize the outcome."

"The incantation for this transfiguration is 'Praepilatus'. repeat it after me."
Aeon said, and waited until they were finished. "Now, first you must picture a button in your mind. I want all of you to picture a button with the same coloring as your beetle. That will make it a lot easier for you. As I said, we're mostly focusing on the shape. Once you're comfortable, you may attempt to alter other features. After that raise your wand, visualize the beetle turning into the button. When you are ready, tap the beetle three times with your wand, and swish the wand through the air, saying the incantation. Praepilatus!"

At his words, the chunky beetle on his desk flattened into a round, glittering button.

"Now perform the transfiguration on your beetle. I want to see buttons good enough to line my coat with." He beamed. "If you have any problems, feel free to ask. And don't worry - this won't hurt the beetles."
Homework: RP transfiguring beetles into buttons. Feel free to rp myself helping you.

[justify]Tholomyes had attended the quidditch game, since he was growing more interested overall in the sport, and trying to pick up on other techniques, it was a good thing, he was working a little harder at something inside the magical world which he would not have otherwise done. The teen was feeling pretty sad when Slytherin had won, since his sister and the girl who was definitely his closest friend at the school. The young ravenclaw was however not looking forward to the next game he was supposed to play, mostly fearing that he might actually have to play again, he'd enjoyed being a beater after getting into the swing of it, but given that he hadn't had to worry about playing in the second game he now was fearing the game a little bit again. There wasn't anything he could do about it, and he was taking himself to the quidditch pitch at the end of every day so that if he did have to play it would all go fine for him, however for now, there were classes he needed to focus on.

Tholomyes wandered into the transfiguration classroom and looked to the professor at the front who began his lesson. Theo, being still new to magic understood how important transfiguration was but he also thought that it was a little strange, they did a lot of odd things in the classroom that he would've never imagined ever doing, but as the professor began talking and then said the word beetles he knew it would be one of the weirder lessons. The teen made a grimace as he continued listening to what he was saying, and with a big frown on his face he picked on of the beetles hating the scurrying feeling he had in his hands at it's little feet. He couldn't help the shudder which took over his body. The teen sighed heavily, continuing to listen to what the professor was saying, barely handling the feeling in his hands as in his opinion the professor gave a far too long lecture. However, finally he was able to try the spell. He placed the beetle down, pointing his wand at it, and imagining the creature as a button, of the same colour as the beetle. He waved the wand and then said, "Praepilatus," the beetle changed almost instantly much to the ravenclaw's relief and as soon as this happened he gathered up his things and them left the room.
