Summers waited comfortably at his desk for the first years to file in for yet another lesson. Unfortunately, they still wouldn't be doing any wandwork just yet. As they each took their seats, he rose from him and started into the day's topic. "Good morning! Great to see you all back. Wands won't be required today, sorry, but we have some more theory to get through before moving on to the exciting stuff." There were a few groans and other disappointed sounds, but the professor simply rolled his eyes. He wanted to get to spellcasting as much as they did. "We'll try get through this quickly. Your first year is all about introductions and general familiarization, which I'm sure you've found to be the case in other subjects too. While you won't be performing most types of Transfiguration during this year, with the sole focus being Inanimate to Inanimate, you will need to know about what you'll be learning in future to help you prepare for it. Next year you'll be going into Inanimate to Animate, and so on through the list we covered earlier in the year." The wizard gestured toward the board with his wand as he spoke, causing the chalk to come to life, as usual, and write up the list again for those who needed a refresher. "These are your building blocks. Think of Inanimate to Inanimate transfiguration as the foundation for which the others build upon. That being said, Animate to Animate transfiguration will provide the backbone for nearly every advanced transfiguration spell that you will learn in future years. You must capable of transfiguring animals in general before you can hope to learn to switch, vanish, or conjure them, or even put your hands on human transfiguration." He paused to allow the few stragglers to keep up with their note-taking before he continued on, hands moving animatedly as he spoke. "Of course, human transfiguration, as you should know from lesson one, includes the animagus transformation. An animagus, for those of you who weren't paying attention, is a wizard or witch who can transform into a specific animal at will, though they are rare. This school however, has trained more animagi than any other that I'm aware of. Myself and even the Headmistress are both animagi, as have been a few other professors who have taught here. Naturally, with this power comes responsibility, and the Ministry has regulations in place to avoid us causing havoc, if we wanted to." He stopped once more and flicked his wand towards the blackboard. The chalk floated away from the list it had already written up and began working on another.
"And with that we have homework. Nothing too extensive, more just a survey on your opinions that will give you some easy extra credit. That's all, class is dismissed." The Professor finished, conjuring a sheet of parchment on each students desk before they left. Essay: Should there be more or less laws limiting transfiguration spells? Transfiguration,1,3 |

The first year slytherin had no trouble with classes, he found them interesting enough, and he did his very best to not show an interest in any of them. He still didn't say much and he really hated having to do any work with others, it was just so frustrating to him, because beyond blood being an important issue to him, he just generally hated having to spend time with others and more so when he had to do even the smallest task with them, the only exception to the rule was Lestat whom he had grown to very much enjoy the company of. The young slytherin didn't have to do much to keep the friendship going, it wasn't too much effort. With a little sigh the boy pushed himself into gathering up what he needed for the classes he had that day, the bits and bobs that seemed necessary for the day ahead of him. The slytherin took his tie and began doing it as he left the room heading towards the class of the day. Zared stepped into the transfiguration classroom and looked to the professor at the front of the room, the man whom he had yet to form a real opinion about but was pretty sure he didn't like. It was annoying that this man taught one of his favourite lessons, or what he assumed would become one of his favourite lessons over the years. The boy glanced up at him with a neutral expression as he began the lesson, and the words he spoke were not a welcome thing, though theory the boy realised was important it didn't mean that he looked forward to it in the slightest, it didn't mean he liked it. But, given that he couldn't do anything to stop it, the slytherin just sat listening to what was being said, taking the odd important note about something he already knew a little about. He couldn't wait to be able to apparate, and he thought it would be incredibly neat to be able to become an animagus though he was never willing to put in the work, or work with a professor to do it. He ignored the bit on muggles and just made sure he had the rest of it down. It wasn't a particularly interesting or fun lecture, there wasn't much new to learn for those who weren't already magic and he didn't care about the muggleborns he shared this class with. Finally the lesson was wrapped up and Zared gathered his things and then left the room. |

Lilyanna packed her equipment into her bag and made her way straight to her next Transfiguration class. She had been quite interested in the class since the first lesson when the professor told them that they would need to be doing some theory before moving on to the spellcasting. Theory was always much more important to her than anything and she gave the class dirty looks whenever they groaned about it. Without theory you wouldn't really know how to cast the spell or what exactly the spell is going to do before casting it. In Lilyanna's opinion, it was always a vital part in learning. The slytherin walked into her Transfiguration classroom with a smirk and sat down in the very front seat, eager for the lesson to begin. They were still learning about the laws of Transfiguration and Lilyanna tried her best to note down everything that was being said. Being an animagus would be fun but it wasn't really something that interested her one bit. It would be a dangerous thing, especially considering the amount of training you would have to go through to become one. Sometimes the thought of it even sounded silly to her but she brushed it off anyway, not bothering to put her hand up to ask the growing amount of questions that she had on the subject and left the classroom at the end of the lesson, dreading the time when they would have to use their wands in the class. |
