Summers sat on the edge of his desk as he waited for the first years to enter and gestured for them to take their seats once they did. As soon as everyone was ready, he did a quick roll call before flicking his wad toward the blackboard that hung along the back of the room. The inanimate piece of chalk sprang to life and wrote up a short, simple sentence. Transfiguration and the Ministry of Magic "Let's get started. Now, Transfiguration is a powerful branch of magic, as I'm sure you've all figured out by now. It's complex, but vast in it's capabilities, which is what makes it dangerous. Some people choose to follow darker paths and use Transfiguration as a weapon. As such, the Ministry of Magic has rules and punishments in place that center around this subject and its misuse. Using transfiguration on another human, or even an animal, being for the purposes of harming them or simply your own entertainment will incur these punishments." Summers paused, casting a glance across the first years present and ensuring they were paying attention. They needed to understand that Transfiguration was not like your usual jinxes and hexes. There were consequences for using it against others. As soon as he was certain everyone was listening, he continued. "This doesn't stop at just using Transfiguration on other people. Using it on yourself has it's own laws as well. As you saw last lesson, I am capable of changing into a canine at will. The few people who have this ability are known as animagi, witches and wizards who have mastered Transfiguration to the point of altering their physical selves into an intelligent creature to most represents them. Animagus must be registered with the Ministry of Magic, with the individuals forms and markings so that they can be identified." Stopping to make sure everyone was still following, Aeon noticed a raised hand. "Yeah?" "Are there even rules for Inanimate to Inanimate Transfiguration?" a student asked. "Mhm. Even for that, as odd as it sounds." "But how could that be used wrongly, professor?" the same student asked, a bit surprised. "There are numerous ways to abuse Transfiguration and each of its branches, which we'll be covering more in-depth in future lessons. Unfortunately, that's all we really have time for today. If you're interested, you can read up on more about it in the Library. As of now, you can focus on homework." He grinned and waved his wand toward the board, the chalk springing back into action and writing up the student's assignment. For extra credit: List for me 3 daily life Transfigurations. As much as Lilyanna tried to turn things around and tell herself that Hogwarts would be a pretty good place for an education, she couldn't really believe herself and it was slowly giving her headaches at night thinking about it. She knew though that there would be no way that she would even be able to think of getting an education elsewhere after she came back from the holidays. Her parents had told her that it would be too hard to separate her and her sister and somehow Lilyanna believed them. She really didn't want to break anyone's hearts by moving away just for her own benefit so she was stuck at Hogwarts until she graduated, much to her disliking. She tried to think positively about the situation but it was just reminding her how hard this all was so she tried to brush it all off as she walked into the transfiguration classroom and took her usual seat at the front of the room. Once everyone had entered the room, the lesson started and Lilyanna sat up straight in her seat, listening to every word the professor was saying whilst noting it down on a piece of parchment. She didn't want to miss a single thing and made she sure understood what she was writing before writing it. What caught her attention was the large number of rules that all types of transfiguration had. It seemed a bit bizarre that there were so many laws on everything but Lilyanna supposed that it was perhaps fair considering how irresponsible many people were. It had made her curious so she quickly raised her hand and spoke as soon as she was acknowledged. "Are there even rules for Inanimate to Inanimate Transfiguration?" she asked in front of the class, hoping that she hadn't cut in at the wrong time. She was shocked at his answer. "But how could that be used wrongly, professor?" Lilyanna scribbled down what he told her for future reference and when the lesson finished she quickly packed everything away and headed straight to the library to find some more books to have a look at about Transfiguration and the Ministry of Magic.

Zared was feeling pretty pleased with himself, more than he'd spent the time doing what he wanted which included watching the duelling tournament, he hadn't thought he'd like it, mostly because he hated crowds and hated people, but he felt like it was better to watch others fight and he was very happy to at long last know there was something good for him to do and he'd been convincing Lestat that he should sign up with him in the following year. When they could at long last sign up. However, this was just one thing that he had to think about when he had much more to think about given that he had classes to think about. The first week of classes had passed without too much happening and he was glad when the second week rolled around. Zared gathered up his things as he got ready for the day of classes he was having to face and was feeling pretty good about it, mostly because classes were for the most part silent things that he could just spend time in, standing in silence. While the first transfiguration classroom had been much like the other first week classes, now that they were in the second week of classes, he was feeling pretty excited about the prospect of doing something more, though excited on Zared was just a little hint of eagerness in his eyes, not much more of a hint. He took a seat in the transfiguration class and looked to the man at the front of the room. He saved the seat beside him as he always did for Lestat. Although as soon as the professor began his lesson he realised that it wasn't going to be an interesting lesson just a lesson in which they had to sit and listen to the man drone one about something they could all get in a book. Having prior to hogwarts learned from a tutor, the boy didn't like having to learn at this slow pace. The slytherin just sat listening to the mundane questions posed to to the professor by the students around them. He was glad however when at long last the class was wrapped up and they were allowed to leave. |
