Professor Black was busy working with a case on her desk as the students filed into the room. She began to walk around as she greeted them, handing each a snail. "Welcome, welcome. Please sit down quickly. We need to get right to work. This week we are going to work with something a bit more difficult. Snails are invertebrates, which will help make this a bit easier, but you do still need to concentrate more than with the erasers from last week." Moving to the front, she put the extras in the case again, and turned to the class. "The method will be the same as always. However, with a living creature, you do need to remember that splinching is possible. Who knows what splinching is?" She looked around, and noted that a few hands were raised. She called on one, and listened to the answer. "Exactly. Thank you. Now we need to make sure that we are vanishing the entire creature, not just part of it." she smiled, then moved to take a snail out of the case. Setting it on her desk, she smiled at the class. "Now, I want to mention that it is important to remember a bit of safety with vanishing spells. Never use them on another human being. It is not safe to do. You may land yourself in trouble with the Ministry if you do. Now, back to our little friend here." She smiled and then raised her wand, and with three taps in the air above the snail she said the spell and the snail was gone. "There. Nothing horrible. Now I want you all to try. I will be walking around as always if you need help." RP attending the lesson. Practicing is optional The first poster respond to the question posed. Transfiguration,5,3 |

Isaiah was feeling pretty stiff, the quidditch game could've admittedly gone better, it also could've gone worse, but largely when he thought about it, it could've gone better. He was still suffering from the bludger attacks, though he was no longer in any pain and his arm was healed at the advice of the school nurses, his arm remained in a sling and bandaged up for the week, and he wasn't allowed to fly during this time, not that he thought he would be able to, Keye would likely rip his throat out if he even tried to do such a thing, but of course the teen wasn't thinking too much about that, he was more surprised at the amount of time it freed up for him to not have to worry about quidditch practice, to not have to always be doing that, he couldn't even go running in the mornings, he was left with a lot of time because he was mindful to not injure his arm any more than he had already following the game. It was however pretty awful to get ready currently, with his arm in a sling and stern instructions to not strain it, it was a little difficult to do general things. Isaiah took a seat in the room and looked to the professor at the front of the classroom, just smiling to himself knowing they'd be doing some real spell work, and Isaiah was definitely happy about this fact. He spent the time focusing on his work, the written part of it and it was always good to do a little practical. The teen also figured from the last two lesson of this Transfiguration class what they would be doing. he looked to the front where the professor told them they'd be working on snails, and he stole a glance at the resident animal lover who was sure to have a problem with this. The teen focus on what she was saying and then was glad when the lesson was turned over to them. He was able to point his wand at the creature and tap three times before muttering the spell, "Evanesco" he said and the snail disappeared almost instantly in front of his eyes. He was able to practice a few more times before the lesson was over, having a lot of success in doing so, even with the arm in a sling. With that the teen left the room to find something to occupy his hours until the day was over. |

Things for Orwell were definitely interesting, there was not a week that went by that he didn't have something to do. The last few weeks had been hard, and he had stood with Archie as he faced off against the tyranny of the quidditch captain, in fact Orwell had done as much as he could to help them, to help Archie and the other gryffindor players, imparting what knowledge he had of strikes to allow them to try to maximise what they were doing, he was feeling pretty pleased that he'd been able to help in such a way that he had, he was pleased that while he likely was the butt of many jokes, that his knowledge had been of use to someone, had been good to people around him. The king of flowers knew that likely most people just treated him like a crazy, overly opinionated child, but it was good to know that he was somewhat valued. On top of this, Orwell was still working towards his plan of being having a lantern festival, and it was a lot of work, but he was more than happy to do it. Orwell walked into the transfiguration class nervous as anything knowing what would await them in these coming lesson but he didn't know how much he could afford being kicked out of another class. The teen took a seat and was greeted with the sight of snails and he knew what he would have to do. It didn't matter where the creatures had come from it mattered to him that he was taking advantage of his power to make one of them disappear. So when the professor began, he just shut out all the noise and just sat looking at the snail on his desk feeling so guilty for what he was about to do, and really thing was only the beginning. He spent most of the class talking to the creature explaining the situation what he had to do, and how unhappy he was about it, not that that made it any easier or better, but eventually as he knew time was dwindling down, he just pointed the wand at the creature muttering an apology, or several as he then after three taps made the snail disappear. The moment it was gone, it took all of Orwell's might to not break down into tears over his actions and all he could do was lean on Archie for support and allow Archie to drag him out of the room at the end of the lesson. Not wanting to say anything or do anything after what he'd just done. |

It was half-way through the term and Carlotta took her seat in Transfiguration. It was an interesting class, and much like her other classes, the Hufflepuff took great enjoyment in attending - even if she had yet to convince Emily of the benefits. She was less pushy these days, seeing as the blonde girl seemed a little high strung. She didn't want to worry the poor girl, everyone had their things to do, OWLs just wasn't high up on Emily's list of things to do. Whilst with Carlotta, it was right up the top of everything. She wanted to do as best as she could, after all, and academic success couldn't exist too easily if she went about socialising all the time. It was all about priorities. They would be working on living creatures today, and that was pretty exciting. She couldn't wait for the lesson to hurry along, and gripped her wand in excited preparation. They were given the warning on the appropriate use of vanishing spells - don't use them on people. Got it. Now for the fun stuff! Carlotta steeled the nerves bubbling in her stomach and, being sure to focus and intone the spell correctly, the tapped the air above the snail thrice. The snail vanished before her eyes, and Carlotta smiled at her success. After returning her belongings to their rightful place, the Hufflepuff left upon dismissal. |

Last lesson, Alex had been able to pretty spectacularly vanish his dusters. Today, he was pretty much certain that he would struggle a lot since they were moving onto something new. He knew that it wouldn't be easy if they had to hide something living, and he already had enough trouble with even the simplest of things. Taking his seat in the classroom, he sighed to himself as the professor explained the lesson and told them what it was that they would be vanishing. He was almost certain that he would fail, but he drew his wand and tapped the snail thrice, at the same time repeating the incantation. As he had expected, nothing happened the first time. On his second attempt, with a lot more determination, he managed to vanish it. He smiled to himself, and when they were dismissed he left the classroom. |
