Allowing everyone to enter and take their seats, Aeon quickly got started on the lesson. "This might not have been evident before, but Transfigurations are not everlasting. The strength of a spell is heavily dependent upon the actual power within the wizard. If the caster is strong then the transfiguration will last for quite a long time. If the caster is weak then the transfiguration lasts for just a short time." To demonstrate, Summers opened the drawer to his desk and withdrew the jar that had been present in the previous class. The jar was full of all the beetles that they had transfigured into buttons. "These were your buttons." Professor Summers announced, turning the jar in the air for them all to see. "So the beetles returned to their original shape after only a few hours, but some of them actually took days," He said with no attempt to hide his pride. He glanced briefly at the students who's beetles had taken the longest to reform and smiled."I can see that some of you are developing your capabilities wonderfully. Now who remembers covering the lesson in which transfiguration was discussed as a punishment used to turn offending wizards into statues?" It came with no surprise that most of the class raised their hands. "We are going to perform something quite similar to this today." Professor Summers remarked, to some shocked faces of the students. He bent down, pulling up a cage containing a large amount of chipmunks confined inside. "There is one difference. These animals will not be left as a statue for a length of time. As soon as I have graded your work, I will transfigure them back. This will not harm the chipmunks, as these are the same animals we use year after year for this practice. They are well fed and cared for here within the school, many of them actually having lived longer than if they were in the wild." He explained to them, knowing some students might feel the need to protest animal cruelty or some other such bull excuse. The chipmunks were raised for the purpose of Transfiguration classes, being subjected to magic didn't much faze them. He quickly began to pass the small creatures out after casting impedimenta on them so they would move much slower and become easier for everyone to handle. They were still just animals and weren't going to sit on a desk peacefully. He couldn't have students chasing them around all lesson, possibly harming the animal or themselves. "Be careful and treat them with care. We don't want either of you harmed." "The wand moment is the same we did last week," said Aeon as he wandered around the room. "Visualize your chipmunk turning into a statue of any material, the easiest and most common being wood, stone, or metal, then cast the spell. The incantation is 'Statua'. Have fun and if you have any problems, I will be around to help you out." He wandered back to his desk at the front, tapping the remaining chipmunk with the tip of his wand. It lost its brown colour, instead shifting into a statue of white marble. Homework: RP transfiguring chipmunks into statues. Transfiguration,2,3 |

Maddie walked into the Transfiguration classroom rather reluctantly, this was not her favourite class. She took her usual seat near the back of the classroom and waited for the Professor to introduce the lesson. Maddie was surprised to see that all the buttons were back into beetles, she hadn't realised that the transfiguration was only temporary, which was probably foolish of her. Maddie was completely shocked to hear that they would be turning something into a statue, to make it worse the Professor held up a cage full of little chipmunks. She did not believe that this would not hurt the chipmunks, not matter what the Professor insisted. Instead of performing the spell, Maddie refused and walked out of the classroom, she wasn't going to be a part of the class that insisted on turning chipmunks into statues. |

[justify]Rome's experiences of school were certainly different from her brothers, though they shared a lot of the same qualities, Rome woke up in the mornings dreading the day of classes which awaited her, she didn't like having to drag herself out of bed and get dressed for what would surely be boring lessons. She didn't much enjoy what she'd had to do so far, and doubted that she would enjoy any of what was to come, and yet she had vowed to try harder with lessons, it just turned out that the professors made it pretty damn hard for her to do so without wanted to just leave in the middle of them. However she couldn't exactly do that, she'd left as soon as she could from the herbology classroom, unwilling to subject herself or her ears to any more of it, and while she'd told Cairo and her parents that she would try harder she had had enough of that class to last her all year, and she didn't intend to really return to it. It would take a lot for Rome to want to spend any more time with those horrid horrid creatures. After the last fun class, the teen was definitely looking forward to this, she loved the last spell they'd learned, not an evidently evil spell but used in the right ways definitely something, the teen was listening to the professor as he began to explain what happened to tthey would be doing and informing them of what had become of the beetles in the last lesson, which made her wonder about if ever it could be permanent, however that was not the matter of the day and as the question was asked without hestitating the girl raised her hand like the rest of them, and was very pleased when it turned out they'd be doing it to chipmunks. She was very excited at the prospect although a little disheartened by the fact it wasn't going to last and as soon as she had the chipmunk in her hands and knew the spell she began. Muttering the curse a few times before pointing her want at it, and following the same motion like before and then said the spell, "Statua," she said happily and the creature froze become a statue, and the girl almost squealed for joy, and suddenly, the question popped into her head, so she raised her hand, "Sir, what happens to the creatures if we were to say accidentally smash the statue?" she asked, waiting for an answer as he turned her chipmunk back and then the lesson was over and she left the room, intent clear on her face. Rudolf hurried down to the Transfiguration classroom with an air of glee. He loved the subject, and Professor Summers was great fun, too. As he entered the room and took his seat by his friends, he wondered hopefully what they would be transfiguring today. Beetles to buttons had been fun, but rumour had it they would be allowed to practise on some larger animals soon, and Rudolf couldn't wait. Soon enough, the Professor produced a cage of chipmunks, and Rudolf split into a wide grin. Not everybody looked so enthusiastic about transfiguring such cute little animals, but the young Gryffindor was confident that Professor Summers knew what he was talking about. He wouldn't possibly have allowed the creatures to come to any harm, would he? Rudolf retrieved his chipmunk, petting it happily as he strode back to his desk and sat down. "Hey, little buddy!" he said, sitting it in front of him and getting out his wand. "I promise you'll be turned back soon, OK? Statua!" Nothing happened. It took a moment for Rudolf to realise that in his excitement he hadn't tapped his wand. After correcting himself, he recited the incantation again, and the chipmunk transfigured into a grey stone statue before his very eyes. Feeling very proud of himself, he handed his statue in and waited for the lesson to be dismissed. |
