Professor Aeon Summers

Canine Animagus ☼ Spell Inventor Magical Menagerie Proprietor Transfiguration Professor 1-4 Brodie's Familiar

To the first years entering the Transfiguration Classroom for the first time, the room appeared devoid of any authoritive presence. No professor waited to greet them by the door, which had instead been left open with a note telling them to enter and take their seats, nor did any await them at the desk located toward the back of the room when they walked in. Instead, a large husky sat in the center of the room, tail wagging as it happily watched the students file in. Once it seemed like everyone was present, the canine got to its feet and leapt toward the professor's desk, it's body shifting in the air to take on a more humanoid form. Professor Summers landed on the edge of his desk, now himself once more. "Transfiguration." He started, looking across the sea of eleven year olds with a bright smile. "Is a very powerful branch of magic capable of changing almost anything from one thing to another, whether it be a quill into a spoon, or a person into a dog. Like you've just seen."

Aeon got to his feet and wandered back to the center of the classroom. "Good morning and welcome to Transfiguration. I am Professor Aeon Summers, your teacher for the next few years. I will be providing you with the tools and abilities that are an absolute necessity for each and everyone one of you as capable witches and wizards. The other subjects pale in comparison to the power transfiguration holds. Your only limits here is your imagination. You will learn everything from manipulating, conjuring and even vanishing the very matter that makes up our physical world." Summers stopped to withdraw his wand, whipping it toward the blackboard behind him. Immediately, the inanimate chalk was imbued with magical life and floated up to start scrawling across the board.

Types of Transfiguration
  • Inanimate to Inanimate
  • Inanimate to Animate
  • Animate to Inanimate
  • Animate to Animate
  • Switching
  • Conjuring
  • Vanishing

"Now, some of you may not be familiar with all of the terms written here, so we'll begin the day with some vocabulary. Take notes if you feel you need to, but it's all very easy to remember. Let's start with inanimate. Inanimate means that something is not living, for example a rock, or a chair. Buildings, furniture, it's all inanimate. Animate on the other hand, is the opposite. Anything living. You, me, your pet goldfish. Even the grass we walk on. Simple, right?" Summers looked across the rows of faces, hoping they were keeping up. It wasn't a difficult concept.

"Now that we have those key terms out of the way I can explain what the combinations on the board mean. Let me know if you need me to slow down at all. It's all just really exciting stuff, even for me. I'd honestly be surprised if any of you got bored by this subject. It's amazing. First of all, we have inanimate to inanimate transfiguration. Simply put, it's changing one thing that isn't living, into another thing that also lacks life. This is easiest to do regarding objects of the same size to begin with, like so." Summers waved his wand once more, transforming a random students seat into a comfortable armchair. Waving his wand again, a vase in the corner of the room became a small teacup. "As you gain more experience, you won't need to worry about retaining the same general size. Inanimate is the best to start off with, as the target does not move and lacks the complexity of living creatures. Which brings us to inanimate to animate."

Another wave of his wand, and the cyan quill sitting in its inkpot on Aeon's desk transformed into a chirping blue bird, its feet coated in black ink. It fluttered its wings a few times before taking flight, circling the room a few times. "As you see here, we are capable of changing something without life into something living. Don't be fooled by it though. The living creature you create lacks a soul and is only alive through you. True life is something we cannot give." As he finished speaking, the bird reverted to a quill and floated slowly back down toward the floor. "That there is simply untransfiguration, something returning to what it once was. But it is indeed possible to turn something such as a bird into a quill through animate to inanimate transfiguration. I'm sure you all know by now that it means turning something alive into something that isn't. Of course you don't kill the targeted creature, but merely halt its life for a short time."

The wizard stepped forward and retrieved the quill from the floor, glancing at the clock overhead as he straightened back up. "And finally, animate to animate changes a living thing into another living thing, such as a guinea pig into a rabbit, or a human into a toad. A favourite among fans of muggle stereotyped witches. Unfortunately, that's all we have time for today. In the following lessons we'll be doing actual wandwork, so look forward to that. If you turn your attention to the board, Mr Chalk has gone ahead and kindly left you all some easy homework to do before our next class. Make sure you write it down and do it for some easy house points. See you guys later." Summers finished, gesturing for them to leave once they were done.
Homework:
Choose one of the types of transfiguration and write about either a real myth or a legend where one thing was transformed into another (or you can make a story up.)

[justify]And so classes were beginning, and Sianna had one goal in mind for this semester and that was just beating her brother, so the young ravenclaw prior to the lesson had been up all night before reading up on what she needed to be good at this coming lesson, though perhaps given how tired she was that morning didn't exactly bode well for her. Sianna yawned loudly as she put on her ravenclaw uniform, tying her hair up into a low ponytail, resting the strands of hair on her shoulder, there wasn't much she could do to get rid of the tiredness in her look, Sianna didn't like make up really just yet, she always applied a little, of what she could actually manage with make up but she didn't really like it, not yet at least. The girl double checked her school bag before heading out of the dorm room and down towards her class, she knew that she had to at least be at the room before him, and beat him in every other way, but she had to first locate the classroom to be able to do this.

Sianna had been looking forward to the transfiguration class, she didn't know what kind of things would be involved in it, but of all the classes that she was to take this semester the transfiguration class was the one she was most looking forward to. Sianna expected like most of the other first classrooms for it to just be another exceedingly dull lecture, and when she sat down in the room, spotting just the dog at the front she had to think that it was going to be that, although watching the dog transform made her smile greatly. The professor got started on the lesson and the young Ravenclaw listened along to what he was saying, looking at the board as the different words appear and she did her best to copy all of them down, as the professor continued speaking. She continued in the lesson to take notes of what the man was saying, and watching as he demonstrated the spells or kinds of spells they would learn over the next few years. She was very excited about this process and as soon as they homework was set and they were allowed to leave the room Sianna gathered up her things and left the room.

[justify]Ares was excited, he was so excited about classes and this was the first time in his life that he was actually looking forward to his education, Ares wasn't the type of boy who did well within classrooms, they just made him fall asleep or let his mind wander to lands greater than this, and the boy wasn't therefore the most academically driven person no matter how much his older brother was, or how curious and grounded in reality Xavier was. Ares was for the first time really genuinely excited to learn, he didn't know how long it would last, but for now that was all that mattered and the young hufflepuff who woke up a little later than normal, hurriedly put on his clothes and ran his way to the classroom, he didn't run because he was running late but getting ready in his dorm room had made Ares just so very excited about the lesson and he had wanted to be there as promptly as he could.

Ares had heard from Isaiah that transfiguration was pretty lecture heavy so the young boy didn't have high hopes as to what this might bring for him, instead he felt like this would be one of the lessons he'd probably get really very bored during. The young hufflepuff took his seat in the room and glanced to the front of the classroom where instead of a professor there stood a dog, he sort of wanted to go over to pet the dog, but resist the urge to, opting instead to just wait, and it was likely a good thing that Ares had waited given that the dog turned out to be the professor and a pretty cool way of introducing transfiguration to them all. Ares listened along and then read the types of transfigurations currently written on the board behind the professor, and the boy just smiled at this, as his mind zoned out at the professor just droning on. He could imagine his own form if he was to be an animal, the way it would feel, they way life would appear when not human but still mentally human. The hufflepuff came back to when the professor at the front finished the lesson and they were able to leave. He gathered up his pretty empty notes and then left the room.

Eleanor wasn't quite sure what to think of transfiguration. Neither of her parents were very good at it but she had still seen them perform it better than what Eleanor believes she'll ever be. Magic was used regularly at her home so she had already seen many of the household spells being performed, despite not being able to perform them herself. Classes were a bit daunting during the first week considering Eleanor didn't know how well she was going to be at them, but she was still quite excited to see how everything worked. Learning as much as she could about the different types of spells was Eleanor's goal this year and hopefully she'd be able to achieve that by the end of it.

As Eleanor walked into the Transfiguration class, she was quite disappointed to see that it was a theory lesson. "At least we don't have to introduce ourselves again." Eleanor thought as she took a seat at the back of the room and took out her quill and parchment, ready to begin. She would much rather if she'd be able to learn a new spell every lesson but it wasn't usually like Eleanor to get her way, even if she really wanted to. She knew that she'd hopefully be able to learn new spells in this class and would wait patiently for when that time would come. For now, she'd have to suffer with all the boring lectures. She was quite pleased when the lesson ended and quickly packed away her things before exiting the classroom. She hadn't really managed to get anything out of the lesson, it was all just words to her, but hopefully next lesson they'd be able to do something much more interesting.

Transfiguration sounded fascinating to Miya. She'd seen it used a lot at home, mostly for things when her mother didn't want to go to the store and buy more kitchen utensils. It was useful in that way, but Miya was sure there were more interesting things transfiguration could be used for. She entered the classroom after seeing some students already seated and took a spot in the back of the class. Miya found herself less surprised than she'd expected upon seeing a dog sitting in the classroom, calmly accepting that Transfiguration class would be taught by a canine teacher. She was only slightly disappointed when the dog turned into a human.

She listened to the lecture, scribbling down notes on a scrap of parchment to make sure she didn't miss anything. She couldn't stop the small smile on her face from forming as she listened. Miya didn't mind the theory lesson at all, but the act of turning a quill into a bird unnerved her slightly. The strangely philosophical side of Transfiguration was something she hadn't considered before, but she was curious. She gathered her things together and left the classroom as the lesson was over, wondering if she'd be able to learn to turn into a dog like the professor had.

Transfiguration class finally happened. Bleaire didn't look forward to this class much but she had been thinking that maybe she wasn't included in it for a long time. So when it appeared in her schedule, she sighed with relief.

The classroom's door was open when she arrived so Bleaire immediately went in. Her professor isn't present yet but she noticed a cute dog wagging his tail by the door. Ahhww... I want a dog just like that one, she thought. She wanted to pet it but she feared it might not be trained to not bite students, so she refrained from getting close it..

As all her classmates arrived, the dog stood up and walked towards the teacher's table. Immediately, it changed to a man...

Oh thank fate I got scared being bit by the dog or else I would have been petting my professor! I don't think he'd take something like that very kindly, I might even be the one to be turned to a pet myself for such an action. These words flowed out of Bleaire's mind as she saw the transformation.

Transfiguration their professor said. Is awesome, Bleaire added in her head. She then took down some notes as their teacher proceeded to make examples and stuff. Afterwards they were dismissed, she then turned in her assignment before leaving the room.

Lesson 1, Assignment

There was a powerful wizard who was gay, and he never knew he was powerful. But he told nobody that he was gay, he even became recluse. But then one day, he met someone who became close to him. She was skilled at war but she was just a slave and she told him her life. But still, he didn't tell her his secret...

Eventually, the two of them encountered the girl's captor. The wizard knew that the captor inflicted harsh punishments upon the girl, so he asked if he could buy the freedom of his friend. But the captor would not permit and started to say such bad things about his very first friend which he knew isn't true. Anger welled up inside the wizard, and in his anger, he released all his hate and complains about the world in one spell... The captor began to turn into dark thin air and eventually became a shadow.

The wizard and the girl became the best of friends while the captor remained a shadow all his life, the wizard's spell never losing power.

The first week of classes were incredibly exciting for a newer witch. Though Aminia had been well aware of her Veela status, and her ability to create the spells, she was now going to be casting spells and doing her own magic, much like her older sister. Sure she was disappointed that her dance training had to be cut down, it didn't stop her from gleaming with educational determination as she entered the class. Of course she knew that the first lessons would just be lectures, but it didn't mean she needed to be grumpy - that would only happen if she never got a chance to practice.

As the professor, a rather tall blonde, spoke his lectures, Aminia tried her best to pay attention and take notes. Though her homework would be done at another point in time, as she was itching to practice dance rather than magic at that moment. Besides that she hadn't learned anything to practice magic with. Sighing slightly in contentment she left the class to find the perfect place to practice.
