Professor Jacqueline Black walked into her classroom with a smile. It had been two years since she last taught at the school, so she was not familiar with any of the seventh year students. She sat on the edge of her desk until all of her students arrived. "Welcome back to Transfiguration. I am Professor Black. I know you have your NEWTs looming at the end of the year and my goal is to make sure you are ready for them. We will cover a few new topics, but in the process of covering these, you will be revising for your exam." Professor Black smiled at the class then continued. "Today we are going to start with Untrasfiguration and reversal spells. Untransfiguration is returning something to its proper form. Untransfiguration is essentially a reversal spell. We will learn more about these types of spells this term," she said pausing for a moment. Giving the students a once over, she realized that was enough talk for the day. Application of the lecture was more interesting for students. "Today we are going to work on conjuring chairs." With three taps in the air, Professor Black conjured a simple wooden chair as a demonstration for the class. "It is not necessary to do anything complex. Just imagine a plain wooden chair. The more complicated the chair the harder it is to create," she said. There were a few she knew would want to try a more complex chair, but she hoped they would wait until they at least have a simple wooden chair first. "This is a nonverbal spell, but it is important to use the three-tap method with your wand. Now, once you have a standard wooden chair, bring it up to me, and we will test your work. Any questions?" she asked. Seeing none, she waved her hand at them. "Have at it! You have the rest of the class to practice. I will be here if you need any help." Professor Black moved to sit on top of her desk, watching their work intently. RP the Lesson. Feel free to include an image. Transfiguration,7,1 |

After an eventful break Matthew was glad to be back at Hogwarts, mostly because it meant he was so much closer to graduating and leaving the castle behind for good. The thought of freedom was the only thing going as he left the common for his first class of the semester. At least Transfiguration was a class he enjoyed somewhat so there were worst places to begin the new semester. Matthew made the trip down to the fifth floor and entered the classroom taking his usual seat. He could count the number of times he would need to sit hear for the rest of the semester with his fingers and that was a comforting fact. Over the years Transfiguration had become increasingly difficult and Matthew knew that it would be at its peak and the next few weeks would feature some of the most difficult magic he would ever learn. He was certainly intrigued to know what they would be learning. Professor Black began the lesson and told the class that they would be learning about untransfiguration and reversal spells. So they would be learning how to undo everything they learnt up to this point. Finally Matthew thought as he took out his wand and laid it on his desk. For the lesson at hand they would be using non verbal conjuring spells and their task was to conjure a simple wooden chair. It appeared that introductory lessons weren't a thing in seventh year. When Professor Black sat on top of her desk that was the sign that they could get up and practice. Matthew retreated into a corner of the classroom and held his wand out in front of him. He pictured in his head a simple wooden chair, something like the rocking chair his grandfather used to have. He pictured the chair in his head, removed every other mental image of himself sitting in it, or his mother telling him not to. Everything else was gone leaving only the chair. He held out his wand and tapped it in the air three times and focused everything on conjuring the chair in his mind in front of him. Matthew was amazed, although in truth not all that surprised when he saw the chair appear in front of his eyes. He had simplified the design of the chair somewhat to make it easier to conjure but for intense of purpose it was the chair he used to sit on as a child. Matthew grabbed the chair and took it over to Professor Black, once she had tested it he was able to grab his bag and leave the classroom. |
