Professor Jacqueline Black stood at the front of the class, waiting for her students to arrive. This was an important year for them. It was the year they sat their OWL exams. The were going to be under the most pressure that they will have had at school so far. "Welcome back to Transfiguration. I am Professor Black, and I will be your professor for the next three years." Jacqueline said, introducing herself. "This year we will be learning yet another new type of spell.. You need to be ready to sit your OWLs later on this year and these are going to be on the exam." She flicked her wand at the board and the words Vanishing Spells appeared in block printing. "Vanishing Spells are an interesting sort of magic. They are used to make something disappear, just like their name says." She gave the class a look that let them know that she knew just how obvious she was being. "Now, we are going to discuss a bit of theory, then get into the pronunciation of the spell and how to use it." Professor Black took a few steps forward, walking to the front of her desk. "Now, Vanished items are gone. They are moved into nothingness. They are not just made to be invisible, but instead actually disappear. There is some discussion on whether they are actually transferred to another plane of existence, but that is still being researched through the Ministry, and we won't dwell on it. My Transfiguration Professor when I was in school used to say that the items go into non-being, which is everything. So you may choose to believe that the items we will vanish this term are now part of everything, or you may believe they are simply gone. That I will leave up to you to decide what makes most sense for you until the Ministry tells us otherwise." She smiled at her students, then walked back to the board. She tapped the board and the words disappeared and new words appeared.
"This is the spell we will be using this term. I would like everyone to say it with me." The class repeated the spell with Professor Black three times. "Wonderful. I do believe you are all saying it correctly. Now, we will be starting out small next week, moving on to larger and more difficult objects for vanishing as the term progresses. As always, if there are any questions, feel free to contact me. My office door is always open." She smiled at the students, then motioned to them they were dismissed. "No homework this week. You are dismissed. We will get right to work next time so make sure you bring your wands." With that, Professor Black moved to sit down at her desk, preparing her lesson for the next class. Please rp the lesson. Most of this year's class points will be based on your rpsTransfiguration,5,1 |

Prudence was first to arrive at her Transfiguration class, and took a front row seat. The woman was interested to learn some more theory, and some more spells. More than anything though she was ready to learn her transformation skills and eventually become a true Animagi - as she felt she was destined to be. The petite woman looked around the class, searching for Nate to see if the boy had registered for Transfiguration, as the interest was something the two of them had in common. However he was no where to be found, and thus the girl sighed and turned around to take notes. The new spell was quite the interesting one. Vanishing - something that would have come in handy after she'd kissed her sister's best friend. Or even in the instance of a prank. "Ev-an-ES-ko." Prudence spoke with the professor. The woman couldn't help but smile as her pronunciations sounded right on key. Elated that there was no homework, when the class was over the blonde woman left with a smile on her face- perhaps she'd find Nate later that day and they could have a chat about his avoiding her. |

Paige thought she was running late so she power walked her way to Transfiguration. Now she was a prefect she could not be late her first week of class, it wouldn't look good for the Ravenclaw. She ducked into the classroom and was surprised to see it quite empty. She clearly had got it wrong about running late. Paige took a seat and waited for the class to begin. As Professor Black began to speak Paige pulled out a roll of parchment and took notes as she began to talk to the class about vanishing spells. Paige took extra care when writting down the incantation so she wouldn't get it wrong later. She repeated the spell aloud with the rest of the class until she got it right. Soon the class came to an end and Paige backed away her notes and left the classroom. |

Orwell was a busy person, he kept himself active and he kept himself working, the teen had a lot of plans for the year and he'd been meeting with Jean most recently helping him with what he needed, but on top of that Orwell had been thinking about the wild patch, and what they could do, he'd been at the club fair which had definitely proved good for the club and he was just so pleased with everything, he knew that the classes he was about to do wouldn't help him much when it came to the easing the work load, but one of the things he'd really grown to love about Hogwarts was the fact that he never had a dull moment, he never had a moment of nothing to do, he was always doing something, reading something, in his community school had been optional and really after the age of fourteen most left the formal education they had to pursue work, and orwell knew in that environment he would never be satisfied, here he was doing better. The only thing he didn't like, or would ever like was the rude awakening by his alarm which forced him out of bed in the morning. Orwell was feeling pretty mixed about Transfiguration, he had a love, hate relationship with the class, it was annoyingly so, that they had to do spells on animals and he really didn't like doing that, preforming spells on animals to him was like the craziest thing because what ever did those animals do to deserve such treatment, but he knew that not doing it would affect his grades. The teen took a seat in the classroom and looked to the front to see that there was a different professor at the front of the room, not the professor Orwell had gotten used to and openly hated, this was a woman he didn't know and apparently who would be their professor until seventh year, if they continued the class for that long. Orwell had his notes out and began listening to what she was saying they'd be doing vanishing spells, which filled him with dread, vanishing spells, that would definitely involve animals. orwell just continued to listen to the theory, taking the notes that he could and wondering if he could take his concerns to the headmistress. Before then however the teen just repeated how to say the spell, and was pretty glad that the lesson was over shortly after, he left the room in favour of the library where he had planned to do as much research as he could on the subject matter of vanishing spells and the involvement of animals in magic. Isaiah's life had never been more perfect in his mind, he had his brothers, he was a prefect and he was looking to do well in his OWLs, if his previous grades were anything to go by he was sure that he would not fair too badly in any of them. The boy was a hard worker and the more he was studying and growing, the more he seemed to leave behind what he'd once been like, he didn't tell as many stories, his mind filled with questions and a desire to answer them, he'd begun to think of the spells they cast to the idea of where things were vanished to, which he knew was something he'd be learning to do at some point. The teen had everything falling into place and it brought him so much happiness, even his slight spell with Archie he could now look more favourably upon his feelings towards the were mostly gone, though seeing him occasionally complicated things, but largely he was done with kissing the boy. Isaiah packed up what he would need for the class and put his bag on his back with his quidditch gear in hand. Isaiah took a seat in the Transfiguration classroom as the professor began her lesson, he didn't even question the new professor at the front of the room at all, instead he just smiled happily to himself and then listened along to what they would be doing during the semester. He thought the vanishing spells would be a lot of fun, and clearly Isaiah was looking forward to them, he didn't know what it would really mean or how easy it would be but he was looking forward to it. The boy took a few notes of what was being said, listening to the professor explain it and he began to wonder about where they went, especially if you couldn't bring them back, where could things go after you wiped them out from existence, it wasn't like food where you knew where that went. Isaiah repeated the spell with the rest of the class and was pretty pleased that was the end of the lesson. He was also pleased that he didn't have any homework, it meant he had far more time for quidditch. |

Carlotta Love To Give

It was the first week of classes, and Carlotta was quite excited for Transfiguration. She rather liked the subject, as much as the other ones, anyway. It was a shame that she couldn't convince Emily to come with her, though. She had come here in order to be close to her - leaving her home behind and her sister and doves. But now that she was here, she didn't feel any closer at all. It seemed easier to write to her than it was to get close enough to her in order to speak to her. She felt more than useless, but like a waste of space, and it just wasn't fair to anyone, really. She took a seat near the front of the class, always finding it to be the ideal spot, and smiled at the professor. OWLs were mentioned, and Carlotta was sure to begin her note taking. She knew of OWLs, obviously, and had relatives that sat through them. The environment was slightly different, however - there were a lot more people here to work with and study beside. She was still adapting. She began her notes neatly, as they were to be looking at vanishing spells today. Coming from a magical household, she had seen vanishing spells used and knew what happened - well, about as far as the items disappearing, rather than actually knowing where they went. It seemed no-one else knew, either. As the spell appeared, she read it along with everyone else, and took notes regardless. It was, after all, the OWL year and she wanted to make sure she was a prepared as she possibly could be. Taking note to bring her wand next lesson, she packed up her things, and left the classroom. OWLs. OWLs. OWLs. Zach had heard more about them than he cared to before he had even stepped inside a classroom. One of the disadvantages of having a book worm who cared more for her homework than a life for a best friend. God forbid Zach tried to breeze past his OWL year with a friend like Levy watching his every move. He walked into the classroom in what felt like the first free moment he had from Levy. He loved her but boy did she drive him crazy. Zach took a seat in the classroom and listened while Professor Black began the lesson on vanishing spells. He thought it sounded pretty cool that you could make things disappear into nothing. He couldn't wait to try it out. After being told the incantation Zach spoke it aloud withthe class until he was convinced he had it down. With no homework he packed up his things and left the classroom. |

Alex was tired of his professors reminding him that it was OWL year every single time he saw them. It was beginning to sound like a broken record, and it just gave him more stress and made him feel anxious. Alex had been spending a lot of time struggling to read up on the course work for his classes. Alex smiled as he took a seat and then listened as the professor explained their lesson. It was pretty simple, he'd heard of the spell before. "Ev-an-ES-co." He said, having already practiced the spell beforehand. When he was done, he left the classroom and headed off to the common room. |
