Lesson One: Professor Effie Kingston was seated at her large oak desk pouring over a variety of complicated charts and calculations, already preparing lessons for those students who might be successful at reaching the study of Arithmancy beyond fourth year. Some students just didn't have it in them but she understood that Arithmancy wasn't for everyone. If she remembered correctly a lot of her siblings were really bad at it but she ended being skilled with it. Her soft different colored eyes remained focused intently on the information before him until she heard the sound of footsteps. Softly Effie lifted her face and smiled brightly at the entering students. She had an interesting year of lessons planned for the students and she expected that they would enjoy it as well. The expected silence arrived once she rose from her chair, and softly Professor Kingston began. "As you should recall, your first year of study introduced you to the Pythagorean Number System and the Core Concepts. You were required to make precise calculations, make some inferences based upon your results, and ultimately, draw conclusions based upon your understanding of the subject matter and yourself." Professor Kingston waved her wand and a familiar looking table appeared on the blackboard to the students left.
Professor Kingston lightly surveyed the group around the room and proceeded, assured that she had their undivided attention because they were all quiet and alert. Or so it seemed. "At the end of last year, you were each required to do some preliminary work in the determination of your Life Path and the impact of your Birth Day. The emphasis of this year’s study will be on the latter three elements listed. Today, we will begin with the first element, the Expression." Professor Kingston paused her lecture for a moment. She knew that the students would be disappointed that they would not be afforded the opportunity to actually calculated their Expression Number today, but they needed to possess a thorough understanding of what the Expression meant before they could do any interpretation justice. Clearing her throat softly she sighed and started to talk again. "As alluded to earlier, the name given at birth shares the promise of an untold story. The name contains potential direction and points to qualities you can cultivate during your life. By paying careful attention to this vibration, you will realize a wonderful opportunity and a divine promise." Professor Effie Kingston gave the students an opportunity to finish taking some notes and then continued. "The Expression points to purpose, but it is most typical that young people like yourselves are more aware of other core parts during the early stages of their life. As they become comfortable with their other core parts and find ways to balance them, their Expression becomes more evident. As people mature, the destiny actually transforms. As the Expression becomes more integrated it will deepen the connection with other parts. It is as if the other parts are eager to join in and assist in helping attain life purpose." There was much, much more to the Expression, but it would have to wait until next week. Effie didn't want to put too much through their heads. She didn't want to overwhelm them. The students would need to learn patience and he was precisely the professor to offer this important lesson. "That is all for today." She stated in a caring voice as she waved them all to leave. They all looked tired. But it was their first week back so she understood that they were probably getting used to being back at school. Homework 1) RP the lesson |

Victoire had been enjoying this first week back. She enjoyed learning, so she enjoyed the classes. She knew that the next few years of her education would be much more serious and she would have to pay attention to all of the things that she was taught. The girl had no clue what she wanted to do after school, so she knew she had to do well in many things to keep her options open. Victoire was nervous about the future, she was nervous about those OWLs and NEWTs that she would do. But perhaps as a fourth year she thought she should be worrying about them slightly less than she was. It was just all of her fears because of being back reaching the very front of her mind. She shook the thoughts from her mind as she began getting ready for this very first Astronomy lesson. She was pretty excited about it. Though perhaps it was more that she was just excited to be back in lessons, back learning new and fun things which was the best thing about school. Not the sports or the people really but those fun lessons. She finished off getting ready for the lesson and then headed off to it. Victoire liked Ancient Runes a lot, which was why she was excited to be back in the class. She hurried in and took a seat near the front of the room. Waiting the few moments that she had to before the lesson just got started. She had her notes out from the last semester and was waiting for the few moments before the professor got started. Victoire remembered the last year of what they had learned in that class. She looked at what the writing on the board and copied it down. She was very excited about what the coming lessons had in store for her. She was definitely looking forward to all of it. She thought this class was endlessly interesting. Looking back at the professor rather than the board she listened to what was being said, making small notes as the professor spoke. When Victoire took notes the words were half in English and half in french depending on if she remembered how to spell the word. With the lesson seemingly over the young girl gathered up her things and then left the room. This would be pretty good year. All of her classes so far had proved to be very interesting, so Victoire was really looking forward to them. |
