Professor Kingston had to admit that everyone took the last lesson much better than Effie had thought they would, thing kids must have been a lot brighter than most people have them credit for. She ushered them into the classroom and stood in front of her desk, Effie was not worried about these kids and their OWLS, well at least for this class anyways, how they did in their other classes wasn’t really her problem. Professor Kingston smiled softly at them and pointed her wand her wand at the chalkboard and watched some sort of chart appear as the students continued to seat themselves, hopefully this would signal them to hurry up a little.

”Welcome back guys, you guys all did well last week.” She laughed a little at their tired and annoyed faces, she just loved kids in the morning. They reminded her too much of how much fun she thought school was when she was a child, well…not really, Effie hated school so much even if she did well in classes. ”Today, we will be looking more closely at individual letters to see whether your name contains any trends that differ from the typical normality.” She smiled, this lesson was easier than the last one so she had no fear about the students grasping it. This was personally one of her favorite lessons as well, especially seeing as she could understand it much more easily than other stuff she taught, she knew it all, but it sometimes still managed to fly over her head as well.

This table reveals the frequencies that particular combinations of letters appear when studying names with the Pythagorean Number Chart.

Number Letter ---- Averages
1 -------AJS ------- Usually occurs three or four times
2 -------BKT ------- Usually occurs once
3 -------CLU ------- Usually occurs once
4 -------DMV ------ Usually occurs once
5 -------ENW ------ Usually occurs three or four times
6 -------FOX ------- Usually occurs once
7 -------GPY ------- Usually zero
8 -------HQZ ------ Usually occurs once or be missing
9 ------- IR --------Usually occurs three times

An Example of how it Works

Effie Monique Snow

Number Letter --- Tally
1 -------AJS ------ 1
2 -------BKT ------ 0
3 -------CLU ------- 0
4 -------DMV ------- 1
5 -------ENW ------- 5
6 -------FOX ------- 4
7 -------GPY ------- 0
8 -------HQZ ------- 0
9 -------IR --------- 2

“I am under the normative values for the majority of the numbers. However, for the Numbers 1 and 6 I have excess letters norm. I would therefore consult my Number Chart to see that I likely have hidden talents. And since there are some numbers where I was significantly below the normality, then I might consider this an area where I may need to develop my talents more fully. These would be areas where one does not likely have a natural affinity for.” Effie blinked, taking a moment to let this sink into her students heads. It was still a pretty easy, but there were always stragglers who took a bit more time to get the idea then others. Glancing at the clock, she noticed it was time for her to dismiss the class and gave them a wave, telling them they could leave.

I N S T R U C T I O N S:
1) Roleplay the lesson
2) Complete the tally chart for your full given name, compare your results to the provided averages, mention if any of them are greatly below or above the normality.

Rhiannon headed towards the arithmangt classroom for her second week of classes. whilst she found numbers interesting she wasnt sure if she would continue this course to NEWT level. though she did like the professor and felt bad fro leaving professor Snows classes so she had decided give them the best shot she had when she was here. she took her seat and took out her pen ready for the class to begin. today there were looking at averages. she had also recently been covering averaged in maths but she was sure that this would be something different.
As the professor spoke she looked at the umbers. and mentally tried to fit her letters to the name. she knew she had a lot of n's in her name. and would surly surpass the average for those letters and she also noticed the G's were meant to be zero when she had a couple of them.
She copied down the chart and then added an extra column for her own letters to see how she evened up but not before the professor described that letters the had more of showed their strengths and those they were lacking were areas they could improve on. as she noted the G's and the N's were both letters that she was strong on, but she did not expect to have a strong O game as well. One this was done the class was dismissed. she packed up her things and went over to the professor. Thank you for class this morning it was really interesting" she said before she left the room to head to her common room and look what each of those numbers meant and fit them into her life.

today is looking at trends of numbers and how they differ from normal life.

Number Letter ---- Averages -----me
1 -------AJS ------- four times ----3
2 -------BKT ------- one ------------0
3 -------CLU ------- one ------------1
4 -------DMV ------ one ------------2
5 -------ENW ------ three or four -5
6 -------FOX ------- one -----------3
7 -------GPY ------- zero -----------2
8 -------HQZ ------ zero or one ---1
9 ------- IR -------- three ----------3

numbers that are above average are areas you have strengths in, those that are below are areas that can be developed.

Rhiannon Morag McGowan

numbers above par 4, 5 6(notably), 7(notably)
numbers on par 3, 8, 9
numbers below par 1, 2
