Aeon lounged in the comfort of a plush armchair that he'd conjured, seated behind the large mahogany desk that overlooked the room. Today, sat upon its wooden surface were two large cages with a thick pipe connecting them. Each cage contained shredded paper from articles in old copies of the Daily Prophet, a few portions of moving pictures still visible to anyone close enough to see. Running amongst the clippings were multiple mice of varying colours; white, brown, black, orange or mixtures of each. The small creatures scurried around their spacious but limited space, making use of the cardboard castles and obstacles that had been skilfully set up inside.

As the fifth years poured in and took their seats, Summers got to his feet and strode around to the front of his desk, calling for their full attention. Nestled on his shoulder was a squat fat mouse with dark, chocolate coloured fur. It peered at the students with curiosity. "Good morning, my budding Transfigurers. Last lesson went well, despite the mildly unpleasant invertebrates we had to work with. Today we'll be focusing on somewhat cuter, though slightly more complex creatures." Professor Summers explained, tapping his wand toward the cages on his desk. The hatches at their tops flew open in response. "We'll be practicing on mice today. Unlike the snails and slugs previously, these guys have more to them; their bones, organs, ears and limbs. But I have faith that each of you will do well. Just make sure you vanish the entire mouse, I don't want to see disembodied tails wiggling around." he continued with a more serious tone. Splinching was not a comfortable outcome.

Lifting his arm toward the ceiling, the mouse on Aeon's shoulder scurried up the sleeve of his robe until it reached his fingertips, leaping into the air was practiced ease. With his wand in his other hand, he pointed toward the airborne mouse, tapping the air thrice. "Evanesco" he intoned. Immediately the small rodent vanished mid-air. Lowering his wand once more, Summers turned his attention back to the class."These are living, breathing creatures I've borrowed from my store, so do be careful and keep an eye on your mouse, I don't want any escaping and freely roaming around. It'll make it especially hard to vanish one if they're on the move."

As soon as he was sure that everyone understood, the Professor took a step back, gesturing toward the cages. "As soon as you're ready, come up and pick a mouse to practice on. There's plenty there, so if you want to try multiple times you're more than welcome to. You may begin."

Rhiannon was not in a good mood today. She wasn't sure why. she had just not felt like herself for quite a few days, and today she had just felt it all bubble over. She actually had felt like crying and had spent a few minutes in the bathroom before class letting a few silent tears roll down her face before dabbing them off and splashing herself with cold water. she headed to class in a slightly more subdued mood than normal. She took her seat and took out her notebook and pen ready for notes. Shewondered what they owuld be vinishing today. she hoped it wuld be something slightly less slimy than slugs and snails. as it turned out it was mice. she smiled. as far as she was concerned there were two kinds of mice in the world, pet mice which were usually cute, like her rand sarah's mouse had been in scotland, and then there were wild mice, thease were a fidderent story, all together, feral as they were they were often not pretty, and seemed to have (albeit njust) connotation of carrying diseases. When the professor showed her the mice she was glad to see they fell into the first class.
Soon it was time to practice the spell. she chose a mouse out of the basket, and it seemed to know what was coming as it squirmed away she put it on the table and stroaked it a couple of times o calm it. stroaking it again she used her other hand tp oick up her wand tapping it three times and saying the incantation first time didn;t do a thing except extract a squeek. She gave it another shot this time focusing really well. still nothing. vowing not to try and cast with her eyes shu, as she didn't think she could do with the teasing she had a third cast. this time somethign did happen, the mouse disapeared, or at leeast most of it did, she seemed to be left with an ear and a patch of fir. she raised her hand. "Professor, i Think i have splinched my mouse sorry" she said a few ters welling up in her eyes again though she faght to hold themm back. professor summars seemed to be able to fix it easy enough, and then he gave her a second mouse. this time she concentrated strongly before even begining to cas, she focused on the mouse not being there and tapped it three times. "Evanesco" she said and there she saw the mouse vanish into thin air, she [laced her hand exactly where it had been before and it was gone. she smiled before looking at the colock and realisingthat the lesson was almost over. she slowly started to pack up her things and was ready when they were dismissed. she went over to the professor. "thank you for class today professor. do you think the mouse i splinched has been hurt. I feel really bad about splinching it." she said "you say it was from your shop, maybe i should buy it if you can get it back, though i dont know how much sushi my cat would like it" she said. after a short discussion they decided that sushi would probably eat it so Splints (the name she had mentally given the muse, would brobably be best off at the menagerie. she then headded off the the great hall to have lunch still feeling bad about the mice.
notes

"Don't worry too much, he'll be fine, just a little shocked is all. If you want to buy him, you're more than welcome to! Though it's probably best if he's kept far from your cat. Have a good week, Miss McGowan."
