Ava stood at the front of the class, a grin on her face. Lately, all she had been able to do was smile; although this wasn't much of a change for her. She watched as the Third Year students came in for their second Transfiguration class. "Hello everyone! Today is super exciting, as we are going to start our first Animate to Animate transfiguration spell. But you need to pay close attention to me! If you don't follow my instructions, then there could be some consequences." She said sternly. "Moving on," Professor Davershire said with a smile, lifting the mood as well as a small tank full of frogs from behind her desk, "Today, you are each to take one of these frogs and turn it to a grasshopper. Don't worry - these will not hurt the frogs. Such transformations are called cross-species transformations. Cross-species transformations require a lot more concentration and visualization in order to be successful. They have the potential to become very dangerous. For example, if you mistakenly turn your frog into a lion; a very small one, but a still a lion; then he may attack you." Students turned pale. "Remember that this frog may realize what it could do in lion form, although it still has the nature of a frog. So if at any point you feel that your mind is wandering, please refrain from performing the spell! Empty your mind from every thought and just concentrate on this spell. It is better to be safe and do it when you are ready than to try it when you are thinking about something else. Everyone understand?" There was a small murmur of agreement. Professor Davershire took one of the frogs from the tank and set it on her desk. It started to hop around, moving towards the edge. She caught it, and quickly put it back while she spoke. "So first the wand movement: you'll need to point your wand at the frog, with your arm completely extended, like this," She stood a good arms length away from the frog and straightened her arm with the wand pointing at the frog. She was quite a bit away, but with her wand extended the way it was, the tip hovered mere inches away from the animal. "Visualize the frog turning into a grasshopper, and say the incantation. Locusta!" The slimy thing made a little 'poof' noise and turned into a thin, pale green grasshopper. It immediately took one mighty leap off of her desk. She grinned at the students. "Now, it's your turn. Come up one by one and take a frog. You've got..." She looked at the time. "About 20 minutes left. And don't worry guys, should you happen to mess the spell up and turn your frog into something horrendously wrong, I'll be around to fix it." Professor Davershire grinned, making students sigh in relief. RP turning frogs into grasshoppers. Feel free to rp Professor Davershire assisting you if you need help. |
