Professor Spenser entered the classroom, running slightly late. He saw that most of the students were there already; and as he sat at the desk, quickly looking over his notes, the rest entered. He smiled and stood up, moving in front of her desk to her usual spot before the class. "Welcome back! I read over all of your assignments and am happy to get to know all of you. I am sure we will get along just fine, and I thank you all for taking them time to fill them out. Now, I would like for all of you to take out your quills and some parchment. I am going to give you a very brief lecture and I would like you to take notes."

Jonathan walked between the desks as she continued. "If we go way back, to the beginning of when witches and wizards were first mentioned in history, you will always wind up in the Medieval times. Does anyone know who the most famous wizard of that time is?" He paused and looked around, his eyes setting on a young student with their hand up. "Go ahead," he said, nodding encouragingly. The student replied, "It's Merlin, right?" Jonathan smiled and nodded. "You are absolutely right. Well done." Taking a note of the student who answered, Jonathan continued to pace and continued his lecture.
"Yes, Merlin was the wizard who worked for King Arthur and his father before him. Did you know, however, that Merlin also had a hand in raising the future King? King Arthur was originally put up for adoption when he was just a baby and Merlin found him a foster father and there young Arthur stayed. He also had a half-sister who was named Morgan La Fey. At a young age he unsheathed the sword in the classic sword and the stone tale. I wonder, though, as you all have heard this story I'm sure, if you know that this is a true story. Back in that time that was considered to be a test of strength and power. I won't tell you too much more, but I would like to let you all know that this is all very important and I would make sure to keep all the facts for the exam at the end of the semester." he smiled again at the students, and continued making sure to mind the time. "Right, well, I don't want to cut this lesson as close as I did the last lesson, so I am going to end there. For homework tonight, I would like for all of you write an essay on either King Arthur, Merlin, or the Medieval times. This will be due before next week. "A History of Magic" is an excellent source. You can find this book in the Library."
Homework Assignment:

RP: 10
Essay: EC

I would like an essay on King Arthur, Merlin, or the Medieval times. I would like no less than 150 words and please no more than 500 words on this. I would also like a link to your resources, please. There is also a book called "History of Merlin" available at the library. You also have the option to RP the lesson, taking notes, your thoughts on the lecture and so on for extra credit. Also, first poster, please answer my question. Have a great week!

There was a humming noise coming from the hall outside of the History of Magic classroom, and it wasn't evident until moments later, that that noise belonged to Viviana Nacht. The young Hufflepuff had hummed her entire way from the Hufflepuff dorms to her class, only stopping once at her seat. She took out her books, parchment, and scented ink - she was ready and willing to take notes for this class. At her old school she was required to take notes in all of her classes, as they viewed that ability as valuable. It was really hard to concentrate sometimes though, especially when the view from the windows were so pretty. She loved the outdoors after all - well really she sort of loved everything. Like the lake area in the grounds. When Viviana had met her friend Archie there, she'd wondered if they ever had sail boats out there. It would be wonderful to sail on that lake.

Viv was broken away from her thoughts when the lecture began, and diligently took her notes. Though her proudest moment during the class was when she was able to answer the teacher's question "I'ts Merlin, right?" She asked, remember her father talking about Marlin being a 'father of magic'. After that the lecture continued, and the brunette began taking more notes. She had made sure to sit far away from the window, though occasionally she was still distracted, and her notes appeared broken in many places. She could always fill them in later if she got bored. Viviana didn't tend to use her own notes to study after all. Once she had finished her notes, she decided to pack up. The essay was only extra credit after all, and she had a beautiful day of making friends ahead of her. With a wave and a cheerful "see you next week" Viviana departed her class.
