Lesson Missed: Lesson 4

Aliyah smiled at Professor Davershire as passed her in the doorway. It was lesson four and she had grown comfortable in her front row, albeit slightly off-center, seat. She settled in and placed her wand on the desk, eagerly waiting the teacher's instructions. But instead of introducing the spell the headmistress asked them to take out their quills. "I thought she said that we were going to be using our wands today." she mumbled crestfallen to herself. The young witch looked up to see Professor Davershire smiling back at her. Immediately embarrassed, she scrambled to find her grey quill in her tote bag and a spare piece of parchment. Her hurried flurry of activity proved to be for nought as they were instructed to pull out their wands a moment later. Oh my gah these professors and their jokes are gonna give me a heart attack. she thought to herself with a sigh.

Aliyah cocked her head to the side as she watched Professor Davershire explain and perform the spell. She had to admit that it would be pretty nice to change something as simple as quill into something more. The Slytherin took a minute to picture an ornate antique spoon before pointing her wand at her plain grey quill. She tapped it three times and tried to mimic the professor pronunciation of the incantation. "Scriopea!" Her quill turned into antique spoon alright. It was down right ancient looking with rust completely coating it and a small hole right in the center. She lined up with the rest of the class to have her spoon turned back into a quill. When it was it her turn, she stepped up and smiled sheepishly at the headmistress. "Sorry." she said apologizing for her comment earlier and the state of her work. Today was a slightly disappointing day, but maybe if she focused more and opened her mouth less next week would be better.

Name: Rhiannon McGowan
House and Year: Hufflepuff fourth year
Lesson Missed: lesson three

Rhiannon headed to the transfiguration classroom. She was looking forward to the class. she was fairly sure that they would be working on a switching spell today and she was looking forward to it, she had heard that it would be a hard and she loved a challenge, not that she was short of them at the moment. she took out her notebook and started writing notes thinking the more the better.
She listened as the professor explained what they were going to be doing today. and once again it was confirmed that it would be hard. she went up to the from of the room and collected two quills, one a rather sturdy one from a eagle one. and a slightly flamboyant orange one. she returned to her seat and took out her wand. one of the feathers was in front of her, and the other one was on the side of the desk. She focused on the sturdy eagle one and tried to picture it switching places with the other one as she waved her wand. nothing happened. She tried a few more times, not much seemed to happen. she stopped read through her notes again from this weeks and last weeks lesson and gave it another shot. the first time nothing happened but a few times in the shapes of the feathers swapped but the colours didn't so she was left with a simple orange quill and a flamboyant speckled one. she tied again and they unswapped. a few more times later and the whole quill switched. She smiled. proud of her achievements. she practiced a few more times and when she seemed to get it she put one of the quills under her desk on her lap and tried again. It didnt work to begin with but after a while it switched places. however before she could practice any more. She went up to the professor and handed back the quills. "thank you for class today professor, switching spells are actually great fun she said before going to pack up the rest of her things and leaving the classroom.

Name: Prudence Armstead
House and Year: Gryffindor 1st year
Lesson Missed: 2-5

Lesson Two

Prudence had been rather groggy that early morning. She had stayed up the couple nights before reading fairy-tales from the magical realm, which included much more magic than the ones she had grown up with. Some were even reiterations of the muggle tales, but with the factual sections of magic rather than the fanciful. The young Gryffindor couldn't believe that she was nearly halfway through the last semester of her first year. She was so glad every morning when she woke up and wasn't dreaming. With a smile on her face, Prudence slipped into her uniform and then secured her hair into a nappy bun, which was still wet.

The brunette had taken notice that her hair was gradually getting thicker and harder to manage, though she wasn't sure why. it must have been all the nutrients in the food the school served. Whatever the reason, Prudence only allowed those thoughts to permeate her mind until she reached the classroom. Taking a front row seat, she noticed that there seemed to be few of her classmates present. Maybe they were ill? Regardless the reason Prue took out her ink and quill and diligently began writing what was on the board. As the class discussed the ministries involvement in Transfiguration and the consequences, Prue took more and more notes. She was so fascinated by this subject. She was eager, and when the class ended, she took care of her homework right there, turning it in the the professor eagerly.

Lesson Three

Prudence felt so well rested, as if she'd slept forever, rather than just her standard seven hours. Being young it seemed that the girl needed less and less sleep than she would need as an adult. She could remember her fathers' letters telling her to get plenty of rest though. They worried to much, Prue supposed. Of course, she would worry too. Even though she was 3/4 through her time at Hogwarts, magic was new to all of them, and she was sure that they had a lot of questions. Prue would answer all of the one's she could when she got home, but for now she had to have all of her questions answered. Like for instance, why there was a dog in the classroom. A golden retriever - the thought of the dog breed sound familiar though. Did the professor own one? No, that wasn't it. Maybe she knew someone who was an animagus and brought one in? Prue was just starting to figure it out, when right before the class she transformed. The once beautiful dog was now their equally gorgeous teacher.

Prue's eyes widened, and she nearly jumped from her seat in excitement. Her ink well was nearly knocked over, but she caught it, embarrassed a bit by her behavior. It was stunning, and in that moment Prue knew that she wanted to be an animagus one day. She watched the professor in awe, before bringing herself back down to earth and getting out her parchment to take notes. The young lion was eager to do everything she could to become an animagus, and she was sure that it started with her note taking and diligence in transfiguration. She was excited to take her notes, and at points messed up so bad she had to re-write the words. It didn't matter much, as she would be copying them later into a different notebook, with a regular pen. Once all of her notes were done, Prudence got to work on her homeowkr, finding that she was always to excited to stop once she was started on it. With the homework out of the way, Prue said a cheerful goodbye to her professor and left, a skip in her step on the way to the library, eager to learn more about animagi.

Lesson Four

The end of the year was fast approaching. Only a few more weeks and the Gryffindor would be home to see her family again. She had begun to have mixed feelings, leaving wasn't something she was ready for, and perhaps that's why her studying became more than lack luster around this time. The only class she hadn't slipped from had been Transfiguration, and perhaps that was her burning passion to be an animagus driving her forward. She knew it would be hard, and that the creatures were rare, but she'd be darned if she wouldn't try. The brunettes steps were less bouncy, and more determined. Though she had only been at the school for less than a year, she'd already grown so much in her magic, and in her confidence. Entering the class room, Prue was surprised to see the dark haired professor standing by the door. She said a good morning, though it turned to a small groan, wondering why the professor would have told them they'd be using wands, and ten change her mind. She was so excited to start her building blocks for transfiguration, and was honestly frustrated.

However, the frustration faded when she realized they would in fact be using their wands - one their quills no less! Turning a quill into a spoon didn't seem useful, but it was transfiguration no less. She supposed it could be if you were eating while studying, and happened to forget your spoon. Then what would you write with, though? Prue shook her head and smiled at her own thoughts, and then watched the professor showing them how to do the transformation. Prue was eager, more ready than she'd ever been. At first she just sat there, on her knees, tapping the feather to get the tempo right. She wanted this to go well on the first try - though she was sure that it wasn't likely to happen. once she felt she could tap three times in the right rhythm, Prue took a breath, steadying herself, and preformed the spell. One. Two. Three. "Scriopea." She said in a determined, though low tone. Her eyes had been squeezed shut, picturing the spoon - the quill doing what she wanted it to.

Finally the young student couldn't keep her eyes shut any longer. Her crystalline orbs opened to a marvelous site. "I did it?" She asked, her voice not above a whisper. She picked up the spoon, which seemed chipped and rusty - tarnished all over. Prue felt her breath catch in her throat, her excitement obvious on her face as it turned from pure shock to amazement. "I did it!" Her voice was more firm now, turning to a few of her friends to show them her sad excuse for a spoon. The young Gryffindor set it down on her desk. The professor came around and was changing spoons back, but when she reached Prue's desk the brunette spoke up. "Please don't, I want to show my parents. Maybe it'll be in a scrapbook. Thank you." The thank you was warmhearted, thankful there was a teacher that could help Prudence achieve such things. With a smile on her face, and a more childish appearance about her, Prudence left the classroom - ready for next weeks lesson already.

Lesson Five

"No, no, sorry, 'scuse me!" Prudence's feet carried her swiftly down the hallway. Under one arm were her books, and her new quill was in another hand. She was in a mad dash to her classroom, having taken much longer in the shower than she thought she had. Finally the girl reached the door, just in time to snag a front row seat next to her slytherin friend. With a cheeky grin she looked to the curly haired woman, and then back to the board to wait for instructions. She was just in time for the class to be told they could pick up their matches, which meant she hadn't missed instructions yet, she assumed. Being that she was late, Prue allowed others to go in front of her, and was the last to grab her match. Once in hand, she walked back to her seat, eager to make the transformation.

Prue listened carefully for the incantation, repeating it under her breath, her wand laying on her desk so there were no accidents. While Prudence was confident at this point, having been practicing the last incantation they'd learned, she still felt the need to recite and practice. She finished reciting under her breath, and then began tapping as she had done before, trying to find the perfect rhythm again. Once she found it she smiled and said the incantation, keeping her steely blues open this time. Before her eyes the match changed, if she would have blinked she would have missed it. It was a success, and Prue did a small dance, obviously excited. With the class nearing an end, she returned the needle and thanked the professor. What a great way to end the day.

Lesson Missed: All

Lesson 1

Transfiguration was always fun. The young teen was actually really looking forward to it. It could prove to be interesting and informative. Which was really what should be looked for in classes and not something else. Which was why the young teen woke up bright and early that morning, knowing what was waiting for him. He groaned slightly at the earliness, but now that he was awake the teen had no hopes of going back to sleep instead, all he knew was that he needed to get ready for one of the last few classes of the semester. He was excited of course, but he wondered what they could learn in this semester and if his lack of learning from the last semester would in any way affect this class. However, the teen did not let himself linger on those thoughts for long. Instead he just began getting ready, taking a longer than normal shower, and then, getting his school bag ready for the class with a few extras for after so that he would have something to do before lunch. While he was looking forward to the class he was also very aware that this was the first week, and they tended to learn nothing during that time.

The class itself was pretty quiet by the time the young teen arrived. He sat himself in the usual spot at the back of the room. Where he could sit and just listen without giving too much thought to his surroundings. With a small smile, he watched as the rest of the class appeared, and the professor then got started. He found it funny that the professor, introduced herself, and that folks might not know who she was. Perseas couldn't help but find that funny, since she was the head mistress, everyone should know who she is. However, happily they could straight to the lesson, words appeared on the board behind her, and the professor said that they would be focusing on that branch of transfiguration. Ty gave a small nod, raising his hand with the rest of the class when the question was asked, and Perseas was glad when he was called upon, "Switching spells are those spells that switch two objects with each other" He said, with confidence. It was then that another student asked a question and with the answer the professor gave a little more detail and then gave the class homework, which the teen wasn't too pleased with but got straight to. Quickly sketching, a pie that with a small arrow to a second drawing became a crow. He smiled at his work and handed it in before heading to lunch. A good morning, deserved a good lunch.

Lesson 2

The second week was normally a long week for the fourth year Gryffindor. Perseas did not really want to attend anymore classes for a while, but he knew that he did not have much of a choice if he wanted to be able to get the grades that he desired so much. He wanted to have his dad notice him, and he hoped that one day, he would notice the Gryffindor to some extent anyway. Could that really happen though? Could Perseas really become someone that would be worth noticing? If he continued to pick on people, he probably would not but he needed something to soothe over the fact that he was constantly bored. The school did not have much to offer him anymore except a lifetime of utter misery. Well, not a lifetime but seven long years of it. Settling into the seat in the classroom, Perseas hoped that the day would go by quickly.

Looking at the front of the classroom, he could not help but laugh since the class was going to be going over canary cream. Everyone knew what that did. Perseas would love to turn some people into canaries because it would be funny for him, but apparently others would not think that way. Plus, he had to be well behaved, right? A girl answered the question that Professor Davershire asked the class. Then the class was informed of some guy named Aksel that turned people’s fingers into sausages. Now that sounded unfortunate, but also tasty. At least the people would not go hungry. The reason why the spell fell in popularity did not surprise him though. Apparently, the spell that goes into the canary cream was a tricky one. The process seemed to be hard to follow though. He was not brave enough to eat the cream though, so he left upon dismissal.

Lesson 3

The last week of transfiguration had not been great for the teen, however, since he had not wanted to fall back into old routines, the boy had worked extra hard during this semester to ensure that it could not possibly be any worse. He just couldn't wait to see what they would learn about. The last lesson had been interesting enough, that was for sure, the teen was really excited about it. He really couldn't wait to see what the next lesson would teach them. Transfiguration was a subject that to Perseas was just fun. He liked what they learned about, and it could at times be a little tricky but that much didn't bother him. He was sort of glad with a little bit of a challenge, however so far he had not been able to do anything in that class aside listen, and that canary thing of the previous week, which had been fun, but it hadn't been like they'd learn any spells, and Perseas was curious, magic was endlessly possible in his eyes. Restrictions existed, but there were still countless opportunities that he could have, or mess around with. After quickly gathering his things, the teen headed to the classroom.

The boy settled down in his usual spot in the room, and waited as the rest of the students appeared and the professor was able to begin her lesson, showing them two feathers, and Perseas gathered they'd be working with them. She explained that this was non-verbal magic and he was going to need to visualise it. With that, the boy took two feathers from the front when instructed to and got to work. It took almost the full forty minutes, but by the end the teen had managed it, and he was feeling pretty happy about it too. They were dismissed and the teen quickly gathered his things and left.

Lesson 4

The young teen was very happy that another week was coming to a close. Sure, he had dueling matches at the weekend, so he was pretty much only focused on that, but the relaxation and happiness that came from matches would be worth all the practice that he was doing now. It was why, he wasn't exactly interested in having to go to the classes during that day, or even week. It was pretty dull, since he just wanted to be out practicing non-stop. Making sure he was prepared for the match against Rhiannon. He was really looking forward to this one. With those thoughts, the teen packed his school bag for class.

The class was pretty empty when the teen arrived and took his usual spot at the back of the room. There was no doubting in his mind that this would be the class that he really wanted to just be outside. Just anywhere but there. With a small smile the boy pulled out his books for the class and just waited for his professor to start. Which she did as soon as all the students had taken their seats. Perseas looked up as she began speaking. What they'd be doing was a little more complicated than the previous lesson. He took a few notes, and then was puzzled for a brief moment, where were the second set of creatures they'd need for this lesson. So, he raised his hand, "Professor? Where are the guinea fowl that we're supposed to swap with?" he asked, his voice clear with slight confusion. The professor explained, and Perseas realised just how much more difficult this class would be to the others that he had done.

Lesson 5

The week following the duel against Rhiannon, the teen had been bouncing between two moods. Incredibly happy, and just very tired. Neither of which he could really do much about. Instead he just worked through it. Pretending neither was really happening. The morning of the transfiguration lesson, the teen had woken up way too early, and had been way too awake to do anything normal. Despite the fact that the duels were over, Perseas wasn't the kind to let things slide. So he was wasting no opportunity to practice the spells he had been using so far as next year the dueling club was going to operate again. For now he had to focus on his remaining classes for the semester and the forthcoming exams.

The classroom was mostly empty when the teen arrived. He took his usual seat and just waited for the class to get started. He was smiling to himself as he took out his books. It was true that despite the fact that he'd been up a while and had been playing, he was still very awake and had an abundance of energy coursing through him. With that thought, the teen looked up at the professor, and smiled, just as she started her lesson, telling them that all they would be doing would be some studying. Which the teen was happy with, he was a little behind, so he gladly started working in class on the outline. It didn't talk him all that long to finish it. Making sure that things were correct, the right information in the right place. He was just able to read through it a few more times until the class was dismissed and the teen was able to leave. Gathering his things, the teen went to grab some lunch.

When instructed to, the teen went to the front and picked up a guinea pig, and went back to his desk with it. He pictured, as best he could a guinea fowl in his head, wondering if his would come out in black and white, because of his vision, not that Perseas would actually be able to tell the difference. It took most of the lesson, but by the end the teen had managed it. With a bright smile, he handed back the guinea fowl, and grabbed his things, heading straight to the quidditch pitch.

Lesson 6

The final week of classes were finally upon them, and well, despite the start of his fourth year not being too good, he could at least say with some pride that he would be finishing on a much brighter note. It wasn't like he didn't think that he always had it in him, just that the first term had been weird, and he was glad to have gotten something back in this term. Everything had been good fun, and he was looking forward to his break, where he could spend time with his family, and also enjoy a little break before the year of the OWLs. It would be difficult. He was smiling to himself as he headed to the Transfiguration class, he doubted they'd learn much in this week before exams. All they'd do would be study, a little in class, and then he would continue in the common room. He sat down in his usual spot and not too long after the professor began her lesson. As predicted it was short, and just time to study. When the time was over, Perseas felt like he needed to do a lot more work, so he just headed off to the dorm room, for some quiet study time.
