Jamie sat ready and waiting for the students to file into the classroom. He had been running a tad late and left the door open on his way in. He had fallen asleep reading the night before and forgot to set his alarm and as a consequence he had over slept a tad bit. Pacing at the front of the room till the last student walked in James smiled at a few of the students as last ones entered the room. Taking attendance quickly James flicked his wand so the door would close. "Now, today we will be learning another spell to your arsenal. You guys have been doing really great with your charms work this year and so you need to pat yourselves on the back. Today is another very useful spell. But it can also be very dangerous if you're not careful, just like the last. Accio. In Latin it means 'I summon', does anyone know what this spell does by that?" James asked the classroom, he hadn't told them in advance like with the first charms they learned, but he had pretty much given away the answer. A few students raised their hands and she pointed to the first one she saw. "A charm which you summon things to you," the student said, not very sure of themselves as to whether or not the question was a trick one or not. James smiled brightly at the student. "How did you ever guess!?" James smirked in attempted to ease the tense which seemed to work. “By the way take five points for your house.” He made a mental note to remember to look at his grade chart to add a few extra house points to the student's house for answering the question correctly.

"The summoning charm, often referred to as Accio, is another useful charm to know and most wizards use this when feeling extremely lazy, or are otherwise tied up and unable to retrieve the thing they want manually. This charm comes in handy when you need to reach something at a distance. You need to focus on what is being summoned. You must also state clearly what you want to summon." James paused in his lecture for those students who were writing everything down. "Now before taking out your wands I want you to repeat after me to get the pronunciation down correctly. Accio. Accio." James said the spell and listened as the student repeated after him. Pulling out his wand James look about the room for something which wasn't very dangerous that he could have fly across the class to him and not hurt anyone in the process. Jamie spotted a book on one of the back shelves that was not in the proper place and so with his target in mind as well as sight he raised his wand. "Accio book," he said clearly, flicking his wand. The book came buzzing towards him and once it was within grasping distance, he caught it in his free hand. "You must think clearly about what it is you want. If you want your sweater, be sure to add in my sweater, that way you won't be charged with a swarm of everyone else sweaters," James said with a smile as he imagined some poor first year being buried under a mountain of sweaters. He had seen what happened when someone did not take the spell as seriously as they should and focused on what they were doing. It was not always a pretty sight. Of course he would make sure that they all learned how to use the spell responsibly as well as make sure no one was hurt in the process to boot.

Walking through the aisle he dropped the book off in the proper shelf as he also made note of who was paying attention as he continued his instructions. "Now I want you all to get up, pick one thing of yours which is not very harmful. I suggest your textbook or maybe your robes. Place them along the wall with the windows. Then move across the class and stand at the wall opposite. You won't need to be directly across from your object. Once you get the hang of it then you can move about the classroom and try and summon things at odd angles but be mindful of those around you," James said as he saw that a few of his students would find the spell a little boring if he did not challenge them. Moving back to the front of the room he waited until the students were positioned before he continued. "Today's spell will just need a simple flick of your wand, please copy my movements without saying anything," he said before demonstrating the flicking of the wand a few times, he stepped in and helped those who were struggling. Once he was confident that everyone had mastered the wand movement he picked up once more with his instructions "Good now face your item, where ever it may be, and say Accio while doing the proper wand movement. Once you've mastered the spell at least twice you may go. Homework will be written on the board by the door, please be sure to complete it by the next class. Good luck and I'll be around to help." James watched for a few moments as the students began to practice the spell. He Walked around and helped those who needed it or asked for while keeping an eye on those who were now moving about the room to challenge themselves. By the end of the class it seemed that the air was abuzz with various objects of interesting designs and sizes. When the bell rang he wrote the assignment on the board and ushered his kids out the door as he waited for the next class to begin.
