Professor Spenser stood just inside the door of the classroom, waiting for the students to arrive. He had been in the room for some time, going over his marking. The students entered right on time and took their seats. "Hello class! I am back to full health so I would like all of you to prepare for taking notes. I will lecture you about a not-so-famous magician, and then you will be assigned an essay on another." He waited until he was sure that everyone was prepared to begin taking notes. "Okay, today I am going to speak about Morgan La Fey, or also known as 'Morgana'. Morgana was a powerful enchantress of British history, especially gifted in the healing arts. Merlin was her tutor. She was the half-sister of King Arthur, though often they were rivals. Among some of her terrible deeds was stealing King Arthur's sword, Excalibur, and plotting his death. According to some documents she lived in the Straits of Messina, off Italy. An unusual current in that area often draws phosphorescent creatures from the depths to the surface of the water, creating the impression of strange lights of objects floating above the water. These are called Fata Morgana." Jonathan stopped and looked around at the students, making sure they were taking notes. "Right, well, I will end the lecture now. For your homework, I'd like you to write an essay on Paracelsus. "A History of Magic" is an excellent source. You can find this book in the Library. Have a great week! Class Dismissed!" Homework Assignment: RP: 10 Essay: EC Write an essay on Paracelsus, a minimum of 100 words. You may RP the lecture or your thoughts on the lecture for extra credit. |

It was that time again for lessons, and this was going into the third week. That meant something to Matt Greene, the second year Gryffindor, but he was unsure what. He only had a few more lessons to go to. There were six or seven, right? He lost track last semester. There was just some talk about it being the holidays soon, and he could finally relax and not worry about exams and homework. Soon enough the second year arrived to the class. Matt looked around until he found Belladonna and went to sit next to her. Sometimes he felt that it would be safer with her since she was one of the only stones holding him stable and sane. He would have lost it by now if it were not for her and he owed her so much, she would never know it. Matt looked over at her and grinned before looking at the professor to see when the lessons would start up. The lesson began and they were greeted by the cheerful Professor Spenser. Looking up with his tired eyes about the fact that they were going to be learning about the not as famous magician, it just made him think of muggles and stuff. He got out his parchment, ink and quill out. They were going to be speaking over a woman named Morgan La Fey. He remembered her. The half-sister of Arthur, from what he could recall. Merlin apparently taught her. She was rivals with King Arthur too. That was fairly interesting, but he did not really see someone that plotted someone’s death but did not go through with it. He wondered why that happened. And finally, the lecture was finished and they were free to go. Matt gathered his things and he left the classroom with no plans of doing the homework, immediately anyway. Matt wanted to find Mason first. |

It was the middle of the semester and the first years racked up lots of points for the houses. Blaine Matthias, a Ravenclaw, did not care what the points were for. Instead, he continued to learn for his own benefit, and went to a select number of classes just to prove himself. Blaine had several brothers he had to outmatch one day. Troxa would be the highest to beat, with being a prefect and Head Boy in his years of school. If he tried hard enough, Blaine could receive that title one day too. Well, maybe prefect if he tried hard enough. Blaine would get himself there, and he was sure that Pandora would not. Well, he hoped that she would not since he wanted to be the only twin sporting the prefect look. Blaine sighed as he walked into the History of Magic classroom, ready for another lesson, hopefully one that would be worth his while. It seemed like Professor Spenser was back to his usual self, since now he was saying that he was, and they had to prepare to take some notes. And that was what he was doing. He got out some parchment, ink and a quill so he would be prepared. The previous lesson was not that bad, but the lecture was starting. Now they were going over Morgan La Fey. Did they not just have one but with the Le instead of a La be here? That was what he was thinking anyway. He shrugged and wrote down the information that was given to them over the woman that was known as Morgana as well, and she was an enchantress. She was also rivals of King Arthur. That was interesting enough! To him anyway. He did not really care for much when it came to history. Soon enough, they were dismissed. He gathered his things and his notes, and he left the classroom. Skye bolted down the staircases of Hogwarts, flashing round corners, skipping steps and leaping through doorways. She was going to be late for class if she didn't hurry. It was her own fault, she had been up late in the Owlery again, ever since she got a new Owl during the holidays she had been spending most of her free time in the Owlery, and her late nights were causing havoc with her sleeping pattern and her punctuality for her early classes. Skye sighed in relief as she rounded the corner onto the first floor and saw Professor Spencer still standing just inside the classroom door. She straightened herself up and entered the classroom taking one of the few empty seats. Her mood swiftly turned in the right direction as Professor Spencer greeted his class as cheerful as he always did, he was one of those Professors who never failed to cheer Skye up. She knew the lesson would be interesting, History of Magic always was. She took out her quill and began taking notes as Professor Spencer began the lesson. Skye was fascinated by Merlin, King Arthur and their other magical contemporaries which is why she was happy to be learning about Morgan La Fey. After the lecture was finished, Skye quickly scribbled down a last few pieces of information before the class was dismissed. She then packed up her things and headed out the door almost as quickly as she had come in.

Lorin hurried down the many flights of stairs leading from the Ravenclaw tower to the first floor corridor where his History of Magic class was held. He did not want to make a habit of being late to any of his lessons, and certainly not one of such personal interest. Entering the classroom right on time amongst the other students as the lot of them swilled in through the open doors, Lorin took his usual seat and removed from his bag all of his writing essentials, and his textbook. Now he was prepared to learn. Lorin began making a flurry of notes on the witch known as Morgan La Fey. He recognised the name from its famous place in wizarding history, but he couldn't honestly say that the opportunity had ever sprouted to extend this puddle of knowledge into a well of wisdom until now. The boy was eagerly brushing the tip of his inked quill against the fresh bundle of parchment, making sure he took down as much information as was humanly possible. The Professor was a quick speaker and the Ravenclaw did not want to miss a thing. Lorin finished up his notes, neatening his scrawled handwriting and correcting his few spelling mistakes. That was one thing, if nothing else, that seemed to have improved within his previous year of schooling at Hogwarts; no longer did the Ravenclaw boy require the use of an extra bottle of ink to blot out many a spelling mistake. Lorin was also quick to take careful note of the homework and, once he had done this, the boy packed away his writing utensils, textbook, and scribblings, before standing from his seat and taking leave from the classroom.
